A spirited olympian and awesome person. So glad we have sports and competition and the people who compete treat each other as good human beings. Both her and Shannon Miller were so much fun to watch in their primes...fantastic coaching and heart in them both.
Tatiana is in the Detriot area still doing what she loves! She has recently opened her own gym! She inspires tons of athletes and helps them achieve their goals I wouldn't say that's nothing! I have had the pleasure of working with my daughter.
i remember an interview an article about her in i think it was the times from just before the olympics and on the first page of the spread about her it was printed : "tiny gutsy tatiana gutsu" i thought it was a beautiful way of summing her up this montage is brilliant, well done! xx
I met her when I was 8 doing gymnastics, she came to our gym in New Mexico and did a camp.. gymnast from all over new Mexico came! She picked 10 girlsfrom the optional level to do a team routine with her for a show :) I was picked. And I was the tiny tiny one, so in the beggining of the routine they threw me up multiple times..hahha, and she was always picking me up and holding me..lol good memories :) she was soo nice... she even did a few passes on floor for us :)!!
@rickysting1984 not sure where you got the impression that her body was "traditional middle-age Soviet lady's bodyshape" but a photoshoot was done in January 2010 shows her to be fit and trim!
@linetwolinetwo It may be sad that Roza Galieva was replaced by Goutsou but it was and still is standard practise for a stronger team member to be put into the all around after a bad team competition. Remember the Romanians did it often in the 1980's and 1990's in both Worlds and Olympics.
Miller and Gutsu were superstar athletes in different rights. Shannon didn't get the gold in 1992, but if she did, she never would have been the athlete she was in 96. Gutsu came from a hard world and she persevered to succeed in 92 bringing pride to her country and rewards to her family. The 92 AA was so close and exciting, but I'm glad Gutsu won it.. b/c 1) She needed it. Shannon got so much support after getting silver. Gutsu would not have. 2) I loved watching Shannon win gold on beam in 96!
No one seems to know for sure where she is now, or what she is doing. Shannon Miller, on the other hand went on to win more medals, do commercials, sports commentation, and alot of other stuff. In the end, that's better than just having an old medal lying around and a brief moment of glory. Shannon ended up winning a whole lot more in the long run
You typed the same thing, word for word on another montage about Tatiana....lol, Shannon went on too do a lot of other stuff you type, what, like get a ton of cosmetic surgery? shes barely recognisable - someone had issues clearly with her looks! and I dont think we can judge someone due to the fact she never went on to do commercials, F.F.S, give us a break........

A flawless all-around performance, combined with one of the most daring styles ever practiced merged together to make Tatiana Olympic Queen!!!

I idolized Tatiana when I was a young girl just starting gymnastics. Of course I loved the Magnificent 7 too, but Tatiana was my favorite.

@knighthonours Chusovitina was actually the gold medalist on floor in the 91 worlds.
@EdGringo78 My mistake, took Chusovitina info from a website as wasn't sure about her medalling.
👏🏻👍

@rickysting1984 I think shes Ukrainian I dont think she is Moldovian or Rumanian
@rickysting1984 She's in her early 30s now, I'd hardly call that "middle age"
there were no olympics held in 94
@rickysting1984 Ukrainian citizenship, Moldovan ancestry.
She's Ukrainian but I suspect she has Romanian ethnic, she's living in US but unfortunately has a traditional middle-age Soviet lady's bodyshape :(
