YES!!!! I've been fannying about all day trying to make a tape loop, all to no avail...I thought I could do it without the mighty Ytube. Can't wait to copy this tomorrow! Many thanks 😀
This is great for any DIY folks out there. For those of us who don't have a steady hand (or patience), there are also some high quality pre-made loop cassette sellers on Etsy etc.
You got to have a steady hand mate. I be knackered now lol. Cool work. Use to hate them years ago when they use to snap and same again had to try and get it spot on just to play. I had the pink floyd the wall on long play cassette lol. Great work buddy. ❤
I have the same fostex as you! My track number 4 erase head only erases half the time and not completely. So I unscrewed the eraser and moved it somewhere else in the machine till I can figure out how to fix it. Making the machine a perfect machine for sound on sound music production and tape loops. I only know the regular basic 5 sec loop. That first one is so cool and simple. Thanks!
Wow how about this!!?? I was looking for more info on converting cassettes for looping, and who do I find!? Francesco!!! Great to see you and thank you for the tutorial video!
Without adequate tension how does the loop play? Is this why you specifically chose the 5 and 8 seconds long loops-so it roughly works out according to the two paths you gave the tape? I imagine other lengths are more trouble but fine so long as you create the tension for the spindles to work against.
You just need the tension to let the cassette play. The loop sounds lofi as you can hear, with variations of pitch and speed (wobbles). If it's not what you want you'll probably need a simple looper
Oh I get it now. The looseness creates the organic quality vs a perfectly tensioned loop of tape. I’m new to tape loops haha Thanks for the quick reply!
First of all, thank you very much for your information. 🙏🏻 How many beats with how many bpm is this 24 cm tape loop you made or did you get an average result?
I don't know man, it's hard to know it maybe you can make a proportion with the duration of the loop. But it's never on time because of the wow and flutter effect of the damaged tape. I don't use this kind of loops with rhythmic beats
Probably rhythmic sounds are not contained in it, pad strings bla bla bla ... It looks like I'll have to work with sounds, like arpeggio piano ... I will perform the rhythmic themes live. Thanks for the information

@@untitled746 no worries, check my other tutorials on my channel
Do you use a new (empty) tape or any tape can make the tricks?
Every tape can be used. You must erase all music in the tape, in the ones I've used in the clip there was A Kind of magic by Queen lol
