Don't worry he won't get away with it. He was unarmed and trying to flee , he was getting away in his car. The cop pursued him then opened his car door to shoot an unarmed man in the head.

My wife and I knew Michael for 21 years. He was an employee at a business I managed. Always happy, energetic, and a personable person. Years after the business closed, we’d periodically bump into him in Winston Salem and he’d always say “I love you guys and I miss you”. We really hate this happened. Always thought cops were supposed to refrain from shooting as much as possible. Doesn’t sound like that was the case here. Michael was loved by everyone he knew.

Things change when people have been drinking and when off duty, a person's normal inhibitions are suppressed. We don't know the circumstances but it sounds like the officer was entitled and in a mood, and in the wrong. Condolences.
He was fired by the dept. after news blew up the story. The off duty cop entered the victims vechile.
The victim was departing... dude is guilty. Police took a month to charge. Witnesses , video... why so long.

The cop was 64...I'm 69. As a senior too, I have noticed how some of my friends and family members are getting so angry the way the world is going. Back when we were younger there wasn't the violence that is happening all the time everywhere now. You didn't have to worry about road rage or shootings in schools or malls. Listening to what older people are saying ....they are scared and angry that they are loosing the way of life as they knew it. Unfortunately they are taking their anger out on innocent people sometimes. I don't like the violence but what can you do. You have to learn to adapt to this new way of life and not lash out with more anger. We all just need to try to get along better.

The cop was the instigator of the encounter and when the unarmed man tried to leave the cop pursued him and escalated everything. Imagine the people he bullied that couldn't speak out.
