Great day on the river Scott! Nice finds. Thought you scored that archaic bevel when you said 10K years old lol. I've got a few of those round stones with a flat bottom in my collection as well, and not sure what to make of them. 1 has grooves worked into it to form an "X" across the top, bottom flat no grooves. Most likely an atlatl weight. The others could be gaming stones like you hypothesize. Great vid bro, I'll be watching for the next! Gl/Hh 🖒🏹

@@cleggsadventures From my experience in california working with archaeologists, you can find them all over, they would use them and toss them. We would find hundreds on sites. I've been in areas were people were using them in walls as fill in and decoration there were so many of them. Again , that was out west but human nature is human nature.

Didn't know what or where to look so was limited to those pieces laying right on top. I hope there are kids out there following your lead - would be way easier following your guidelines. I'm in Altoona PA and back around a month ago we had steady rain for nearly 3 days straight. The Little Juniata River and other small rivers nearby were basically raging rapids. I haven't gone out looking for artifacts yet but I definitely need to. I can't imagine what the rains have uncovered since then. I would assume the Ohio River down by you was high and raging. Scott, I hope you find some killer artifacts this year! And I hope I will be able to find my very first point!

makes me want to go arrow head hunting, i accidentally found a obsidian arrowhead kicking dirt in my backyard one time, must've braught it down from the jamez mountains 30 min drive but only place i've seen like boulder sized obsidian sticking out of the ground offtrail but the rio grande is about 5 minute walk from here in new mexico just imagining what i could find in there now

Wish I could sift creeks around here,but they’re just all bigger sand stones. Just fills my screen and nothing goes through. Creeks around here are pretty much just surface hunting.
Why wouldn't that have been a little mono for grinding grain. Little kids would have joined in for the grinding, and a full size stone would just be too big for them.

The bocce ball is for a game called Cherokee marbles. They still play that game and the things you guys are calling nothing stones. That’s the grinding stones they used to make the marbles out of its played like bocce ball.

Oh, I described to a friend your leave it river bank stick trick but he must have got it wrong somehow because it didn't work for him. He was trying in Black, Cache, St. Francis size rivers, nothing as big as the Mississippi but size shouldn't matter as long as you got good current. I myself haven't tried it and wanting to/going to same places he tried. I'm thinking he set his stick too far out
@@justinberry3991 there’s no current in this river. Even when it’s flooded, it only moves at walking speed. It’s a sandy beach where the water level goes up and down often.

This is more transitional, Paleo to Archaic. I believe the “Big Sandy’s, and Daltons, were next after Clovis points.
Your game stone was most likely a grinding stone used to grind corn or acorns. Look up mano and metate, used like a mortar and pestle

Yeah, the only way is to walk and look for signs. This river (the Ohio) is good about anywhere there’s a field above and erosion.

Check out “Resurrecting Relics” they’re in Tennessee and find amazing stuff.
Tennessee has very tough laws on public land. Private property is your only option in TN
