Fabulous motorcycle that is a true Sports-Tourer.Crap for pillions though-fixed with the touring seat and backrest for $800! Ordered mine after my first test ride around a few corners! Best ground clearance yet after 42 years of new Harleys.Perfect bike for my Aussie Bike Tours!
I love this bike, even though I don't own one or ridden one (perhaps one day!), but a couple of things that come to mind; the front mudguard / fender is too short (oil cooler is in the firing line of road debri) and for the price, it should have come with heated grips.
Great review! Word on the Street from a number of Australian Journalists that the Sport Glide is H-D's best release yet! I'm yet to ride one myself but I'm very keen. Cheers, from the Aussie Bikers team.
You can upgrade the pads and they improve. If you want to spend more you can put a larger disc and or extra disc to make it twin. Please note the extra disc is more for heat dispensing then actual braking improvement. To the most as extra disc improves braking by 5%.
thanks a lot! any particular suggestions when it comes to pads or disc? dont want an extra disc though, it'll kill that mantis wheel, which is key design element of the bike.
If you want to go pads only, Organic will improve the front braking. But if you have a Sport Glide I heard the front brake is pretty good on the new models, with the rear not so much.
Try the organic ceramic pads. If that fails go for an enlarged disc. I would still wait a bit as Harley brakes do improve after a couple thousand miles. Do you have a Sport Glide?
Doc. From San Fran, just bought one from San Francisco Harley-Davidson and it does everything all the reviews say it does. It's a bad ass bike hands down

Great review, I ordered mine the morning after I saw it in the flesh at the NEC
Excellent review, one of the best ever seen.
I noticed you were riding in a tuck position on the test at times , why was that ?

Is there a way to upgrade those front brakes?
nice review!

front brakes are decent, but if there are ways to improve, wanna know the available options. Its nice to have an extra stopping power.

Good review Mr Carter!
Has anyone done a pillion ride on one of these yet?

It definitely needs dual front brakes
You really need to sort out your sound levels guys :/
