Out of all the sailing channels that I've been following for the last 5 years this one episode has been 100% more informative and educational than I've ever seen on any other channels! Walter is a wealth of knowledge and information that is worth its weight in gold!
Wow… thank you for such high praise… we’ll try to live up to it. Walter’s straight-talk is refreshing, helpful and insightful. I think the perspective-setting at the end (“how lucky are we to be able to experience this…”) really resonates with me… not to mention sharing the magic of sailing at night. Thanks for the comment and inspiration to keep bringing new resources to the channel. Cheers
You got Walter Schulz to chat? Incredible! Thank you. Love the philosophy behind Shannon boats! :) You and the Captain have made me confident enough to consider older boats with solid glass and educated me enough to know that if it takes another year, before I can afford a Shannon or similar, then that's what I'll do. I could listen to this man talk for hours. Truly the Boating Buddha ;) If he'd be prepared to sit in the warmth, suitably lubricated and chat with you and the Captain, I reckon that you could sell seats for that one! Fair play to you Ran-day. You took everything he said with good grace. But then, not to have done so, would've been unforgivable ;) Hope the Captain's okay.
I loved this episode. What a cool guest. Impressive knowledge of all things Boats! You could create another TH-cam Channel just on “Visiting with Old Salts” beginning with Captain Q of course! I would urge with expediency before they go sailing into the beyond. And all that knowledge and experience goes with them.
So true and so important to act on this suggestion before those old salts are no more! What an interesting series that would be, interviews with those boat/sailing fonts of knowledge and sea lore!
Absolutely the BEST EPISODE EVER! Love to see an hour long chat between Schulz and Captain Q reminiscing about "the good old days." THANKS FOR THiS ONE!
Ran-day....OMG this is possibly one of the best videos EVER ! I nearly cried listening to Walter! What an amazing man , boat builder ! Indeed a special episode & thank you so much!
Ran-Day. How wonderful this episode is. Walter is an absolute treasure. Salty. Command of colorful language in an original thinker. An artist. A philosopher. Now I dream of sailing in the dark, away from powerboats watching meteor showers. In addition, he gave you such helpful insights into your boat and the priority of fixing them. I laughed but was horrified. Hiroshima. Last Gasp. All those through hulls that might be okay but the stuffing box….god was with you out on the open water leaking gallons into your bilge. this was maybe the best episode you have done and least expected. I hope you continue with all the content you have been making with our Captain and the friends you are meeting while becoming a seasoned sailor. Thank you.
Love his philosophy on life. Sailing at night, make sure you enjoy what you are doing, first and foremost. Thanks for a great episode and especially a fascinating guest.
Captain Q and Ran-day usually work to a high standard, but this time Ran-day has hit it out of the park. Mr. Schulz not only has a great deal of experience and knowledge, but he is a straight forward man as well. Thank you one and all. A few more shows along this line would not go amiss. You did good, Ran-day.
What a great episode Ran-day!! The educational value of sharing knowledge with men like Walter Schulz and Captain Q is priceless. You know what that means don't you? You are the next generation of seasoned sailor to guide the newbies in a couple more years. I can see it now. Good luck with the stuffing box.
Absolutely THE BEST episode ever! What a treasure Walter is. Thank you Randy for sharing this with us. I’m 70 years old/young. I learned so much and I’ve been sailing since I was 15. Wow, I feel privileged to have been able to listen to one of the last great designers and builders. Just incredible…loved his witty humor: Hiroshima, Titanic…lol You and Capt Q are great! Beat part of my week!
Thank you very much for this great episode with Walter Schulz. Our future boats will definitely be classic boats. Once again, as sailing beginners, we learned so much on your channel . Dear Ran-day and Captain Q you are great. Kind regards from Germany, the (future) Sailing Pilots
Hello Ran-day: being a marine engineer for several decades I personally prefer traditional shaft logs with stuffing boxes. Very reliable, easy to service, cheap to maintain, and very safe. You can work on a stuffing box even when at sea. Dripless seals are great for keeping bilges dry; however they are very expensive to maintain. If you are in the Bahamas for example, parts will be difficult to locate. They are expensive and troublesome to replace every 5-6 years.
A clear night sky has always been my favorite part about being out on the water. Walter Schulz is a living encyclopedia of sailing knowledge. Great episode, thanks!
So many things I could say about this video...I will say one thing. Randall treats Walter with the same respect/awe on his boat I would give CQ on mine. This brought me WAY back to my Grandfather teaching me boating 40+ years ago and leaning in to learn what wisdom Walter might share. Those who have done these things are so incredibly worthy of our time and energy to learn from.... Thank you, Ran-day, for sharing this. It was an amazing video and I am so glad I watched it.
So much knowledge… he’s renovated 18 wooden boats and built almost 500 boats at Shannon… and he continues to innovate and file new patents… just a wealth of knowledge and also fun to be around 👍👍
Ran-day....this segment has to be retained as special history and held safe forever.....Mate. Walter Schultz had me at attention to listen & learn with heaps of in depth need. OK, I am an armchair want to be owner sailor..."but won't happen", and am so chuffed that you managed to gain this magic man's trust and involvement. And with such honest easy knowledgeable facts and prevention's., but kept for historical logic, a man who freely shared shared with you, and via your Video to us viewers a moment of important maritime history. Thanks heaps in gaining Walter Schultz trust and passing on to you (so very privileged) wondrous information which hopefully now never gets lost. Wow, this episode has hit me in such a wondrous way, and you my friend, I hope have the strength and tenacity to protect and pass on to others with that wealth of information...Congratulations.👍
I was off the coast of Cuba in a steel 45 foot French Sloop. It was 3:30 in the morning, Rubber Soul was playing lovely from the dvd player. The stars were out in full. The water whispered to me from its unseeable blackness. I picked up my course from the compass and switched over to Orion's place in the spreaders. Used Orion and the Beatles for a good 40 minutes before looking back to my instruments. Poetry, pure poetry.
Yeah the propane situation is no joke! He’s an amazing resource (and also a busy guy) so I’m forever grateful for his feedback and guidance. Glad you enjoyed it like I did
Walter Schulz is an American TREASURE!!!! How blessed you were to spend some quality time with such an incredible innovator and what an amazing sense of humor!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!!
I read all the comments so far and I agree, great episode but more than that I appreciate you not glossing over all the hard work that’s needed! I knew nothing of Walter, we need more characters like him! Awesome!
Another great episode! As I tell the people who work in my group, “when you aren’t sure what you’re doing, talk to someone who has done it before. Life is too short to spend time reinventing the wheel.” This was interesting, informative and entertaining. I’m sure you learned a lot, and so did we. Thank you!
That was fascinating. Walter is the kind of guy you just want to sit and chat with, maybe while sipping something tasty. I can't remember how I got tuned into your channel, but I'm sure glad I did. I have never sailed in my life but after a few episodes...I was hooked. It took a while, but today I became a patron. Thanks Ran-Day and Captain Q.
Hi Randy I truly wish I could have been a fly on the wall when Walter was there with you. Thank you for sharing a wonderful visit with us mere mortals. Regards from a land-locked Ballarat in Australia
WOW !! Ran-day, well done mate ! Walter is an absolute legend and a genuis - and more importantly he seems like a terrific bloke, I would be buying endless coffee just to keep him chatting away. And I loved his workshop too ! It was so him. I worry and lament sometimes that the world doesn't have enough Walters anymore.....I've been trying to work out Walter's accent, whereabouts in the US did he grow up Ran-day ? And please let Walter know just how much we appreciate him. Hopefully, he's up for a return performance in another episode ????? 🤔 Great work Ran-day - thankyou. Also - regards to mighty Captain Q, hope he is well and working on many more boat stories. Cheers. Alan, AUSTRALIA
That was absolutely, hands-down FANTASTIC!!!! I learned SO much!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! Especially love the end when Walter was talking about sailing at night!!! (Goosebumps!!!)❤⛵
Ran Day, great video and chatting with a legend. Love the episode and Walter's approach to boating. It's good to hear some of my own held beliefs on certain boat equipment confirmed by a someone with so much experience and knowledge.
What a great episode. Walter is a legend! You are so lucky to have been able to get him to go over the boat like this for you. Take this great advice and follow it Randy!
This was truly an awesome episode! Thank you Walter for taking the time to talk with Randy and the rest of us. I learned so much from this viewing. It makes me more comfortable/confident to someday seriously consider owning a sailboat. It would be an eye opener if you showed the project Post It Notes and talked about the reasons behind each of them. Walt crystalized critical issues vs the priority life threatening issues. I hope you moved the propane tanks to a more secure area away from the boat until the storage compartment is up to standard. So far your channel has taught me to look out for a Bird’s Nest of electrical wiring, a worn out Quadrant assembly, how to inspect cables, and now leaks below the deck level, sizings for a holding tank, the dripping Stuffing Box, proactive maintainable on the shaft assembly, and the proper set up for propane tanks. Keep up the great work!
Unbelievable you got Walter Shulz to do a walk through ... I love his attitude, and the way he "explains" things... what a great video..Anndd.. u have a Bomb.... thanks
Walter is a legend. That was super of him to visit, talk and advise you on your questions. I hope he gets many more fine night sails. A great post thank you for sharing. 👏⛵️
Thanks Randy, I loved the scenes from Southwest Harrbor and Hinkley's. Walter's accent brought back many memories and his straight forward knowledge is fantastic. Keep up the good work from an old Mainiac now a Canuck.
Probably one of the BEST interviews I have ever seen. Walter is such a character and most informative and educational shipwright I have come across. Honestly, somone needs to write a book or make a movie with his character in it. I really enjoyed this episode and felt like I was just hanging out with a legend and getting free advice that most would charge thousands to get. I agree with others that I could spend hours listening to Walter give advice and tell stories. I hope you get a chance to spend more time with him and perhaps have a live Q&A. I think its imperative we preserve all his knowledge for current and future generations. Walter even made sailing at night seem like a spiritual experience that should be embraced versus a scary and nervous time of wondering what you are going to hit. I almost feel like I want to sail at night more than during the day now, lol. Thank you Ran-day for all your time, patience and hard work in putting together this archive of sailing information. Just a wonderful and well done production all around. Cant wait to see more episodes like this with other legends of the sea!
Wow. Thanks very much, Michael. He is a legend and also a pragmatist… so his advice resonates with me because he advocates “go sailing” and “splash it every year” to keep the joy factor up. Sailing at night is magic.. and it should be on your to-do list. It’s easier to see channel markers and lights for navigating… and with GPS there should be no worries about hitting bottom. Thanks for the kind words… much appreciated
Randay, to have Walter on your boat was amazing. Thanks for being humble. You and captain Q are welcome to come and do a show in key west. We are putting our 60 ft schooner on the market . But not before the Captain and you offer her to your fans. You can stay on the schooner
Welp. The first you tube episode to get me all teary. How moving to hear Mr. Schulz talk about his love of night sailing, the stars, the northern lights! When you first hear his voice and encounter his manner, so pragmatic and gruff, you wouldn't imagine that he would wax poetic about such experiences. But it somehow makes it all the more moving. I know we live in a post everything age but what a surprise to discover the romance of sailing in the words of this hardened boatyard grunt as he calls himself! What a great episode. (dang am i glad he gave you his advice on that damn stuffing box!)
This is so good. You have hit on something here. Interview current boat builders who are innovating, interesting, and have years of experience and perspective. Brooklyn Boat Yard comes to mind. Thanks for sharing this.
What a wonderfully down to earth and amazing man. Thank you for doing this interview Ran-Day with a man who has contributed so much to yachting who like me would more than likely prefer I said Boating. I agree with him about night sailing even though I've never been blessed with doing it but that's one of the main reasons I want to sail. To be able to do a crossing or get offshore far enough that there's no or very little artificial light in the night sky as I imagine that's as close as a man can get to seeing God's truly wonderous creation aside from looking into the eyes of their first child. Fair winds, following seas, safe travels and God Bless...
Great video, Walter Schutz story telling at the best. I can listen to him for hours on end. Another great treasure with so much knowledge and experience in the boating world. Thanks for sharing with us.
Congratulations for not ending up being weeping puddle in the bottom of your bilge...you handled Walter's boat critique way better than I would have. All invaluable suggestions/cautions from an absolute master, but none-the-less, difficult to hear. Best wishes for keeping the boat safe while tackling the repairs.
Hey Randay, we live in Bellingham Washington and if we don't fiberglass over the bolts on the rubrail or toe rail they always sweat and drip. You can put a big blob of caulk over them to stop the sweating. You need at least 1/4 inch thick all around each bolt and caulked tight to the whole. I take a calking gun and just run a few circles around each bolt and make a nice mountain lol. Any metal that penetrates from inside a boat to outside needs to be insulated in order not to sweat. At least here in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska.
This was an amazing blessing for you, to spend time with such an incredible man.Thank you Randay for sharing this video. Please stay safe and take his knowledge to heart. 🥰⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️
Hey Ran-Day - Score! Walter is one of the great men in our sailing industry. How awesome to have him looking at your Scheel. And having known the designer, Scheel himself. I worked for Walter for a year, a long time ago. He's a brilliant man, and so knowledgeable in all matters related to sailing and the sea. I'd work for him again. And Good Luck with your sailboat - it was a great purchase.
35:15 - I resonate with this with all my being. Sailing alone, at night is peaceful, quiet, solace and stars. 36:40 - Born in a landlocked country, I have only ever spent a single week (mid August 2023) aboard a sailing yacht, let alone at sea, yet my most beautiful memory is lying on deck, watching the Perseids.
I have just enjoyed my favorite video from your show. Walter is a gem, "to every problem is a common sense solution". My life long belief exactly!! I am selling everything at 60 to go sailing everywhere but have no sailing experience. My common sense solution is to go to sailing school before shopping for a boat. Fix and prepare that boat and do simple sailing for a few years before ever considering an ocean passage. Me and the Caribbean will become good friends I hope. Cheers from Florida and 40 years salt water fishing has given me a clue to some common sense on the water as did 3 Navy crossings to the Mediterranean while in the Marine Corps. Semper Fi and safe sailing. Thank you Walter for your clear and concise personality. Very much welcome here!
Really fun and educational video with Walter, God bless him. I like the break these videos about Ran-day's boat gives us, it's a bit of variety that makes it much more fun. I do have to admit that I had a panic moment at 19:18 when Walter tries to get up from his knees with an open knife pointing right at his skull. Please don't do that to us again ! 😁
Another fantastic video guys! Walter is a legend and he is right .The closest thing to heavean is bearing witness to the amazing display the night sky beings forth. Northern light and metor showers..seeing those really puts one in their place!
What a wonderful gentleman and sailor to have on your boat ! Vast knowledge and advice.thanks for sharing!! I could listen to him for hours!!well done Randall Fair winds ⛵️
First and foremost what a fantastic guest and interview to comment though. The purpose of a freeze plug is when they’re manufacturing the engine block there are sand cores inside the mold of the engine block that must be broken down and taken out as space holders for your water jackets as will as oil passages they hold the spaces in the casting the molten material flows around these sand cores and is removed and some are actually machine I would replace them with bronze freeze plugs Your tanks that are 5052 aluminum are OK but if ever replaced you should go to a 6068 marine grade aluminum you could find this in the Coast Guard specs for vessels for hire. It’s just a better product. It does cost a little more than 5052 but once again, what a fantastic guest , you and the captain do an awesome job say hi to Sea dog
I don't think that I've ever seen a bad video from you guys, have alway really enjoyed your channel, but this was VERY special!!! Could listen to that man all day! Had to say something, because a thumbs up was Not gonna do it justice! Thank You!
It's soo good to see you again Ran-Day i have been thinking about you and Captain Q lately and wondering what was going on . this was a wonderful episode listening to you ask questions and picking Mr. Schultz mind about how and what to do with your issues on your yacht .It was so nice to hear him reminisce about his sailing and some of the things he's done and how he compared your project to some of his .I truly empathize with his love for sailing at night there is something special about being on the water at night just sitting there looking to the sky and stares with the water lapping at the hull the piece and quit and the skies and stares above you it really brings you into the moment and alows you to see who and where you fit into the scheme of life .Thanks for sharing this with us today and please tell Captain Q i said hi .
Thanks Logan! We are all members of the ‘night sailing’ club… it can be just magical and somehow helps one reset perspectives in modern times. I’ll tell CQ you send your regards. Cheers
Freeze plugs are needed for sand casting, they are very easily replaced. A vacuum gauge on the fuel system shows the condition of the filters, it prevents engine failure. Another item that costs a few dollars and saves hundreds Dripless shaft seals sound good, but they fail “catastrophically” a regular flax seal costs $2 and is easy to replace Never use dripless “The answer to a problem no one was having” Very well said
A good friend just called to tell me that about the casting/freeze plugs… Great tip on the vacuum gauge. I’m a convert back to the classic stuffing box after the Titanic warnings! Cheers 👍👍
Walter Shulz, he is the man. Simple and direct. Amazing Ran-day that you managed to buy a boat that is the next Titanic and the next Hiroshima. You may have to discuss this with Captain Q. I have a dripless shaft seal on my Challenger 36 and it is a constant problem and I am going to change it out for the standard stuffing gland next time the boat is out of the water. The gas cylinder locker also just a simple rebuild or just hang the cylinders on the push pit out in the breeze. Love your work Randy and all the best. 🐟 😁
Thank you, Richard! I will be following in your footsteps with a regular stuffing box. Good thoughts on the lazaret... looks like a simple redesign is the option I'll be going with. cheers!
Out of all the sailing channels that I've been following for the last 5 years this one episode has been 100% more informative and educational than I've ever seen on any other channels! Walter is a wealth of knowledge and information that is worth its weight in gold!
We could use more Walter. I would like to see more conversations like this in cq
You and the Captain have made me confident enough to consider older boats with solid glass and

Super lucky to get a few minutes of his time... you're right.. he builds amazing boats!
Walter is so clear on priorities. Kudos on having this kind of interview.
Absolutely the BEST EPISODE EVER! Love to see an hour long chat between Schulz and Captain Q reminiscing about "the good old days." THANKS FOR THiS ONE!
thanks, william!
Ran-day....OMG this is possibly one of the best videos EVER ! I nearly cried listening to Walter! What an amazing man , boat builder ! Indeed a special episode & thank you so much!

That Walter, the knowledge, the honesty, the voice.... What a gem! 💖
He really is
The voice though. Voice for radio. Face for horror now a days. LoL! Sure he was a handsom man In his day.
Ran day,
That man is a legend. More knowledge in his finger nail than most has in all their gray matter.
Nice job!
agreed!
Love his philosophy on life. Sailing at night, make sure you enjoy what you are doing, first and foremost. Thanks for a great episode and especially a fascinating guest.
He has the key there. It makes me wonder how I could have lost it.
Maybe not enough night sailing?!??
@@kirkrobbins9090 yes... you have to get out there and experience it... it is something special

i'm not quite ready yet... but i like the vision... just give me time and a few more years of ownership lessons!! ;)
What a great episode!!! Ran-day’s modesty is inspiring and Walter’s wisdom is remarkable!
thank you kindly, john!

Absolutely!
wow... much appreciated. thank you
I'm sixty five years old and sailed at nights on Hobie cats in my early teens to this day , it one of my favorite times .
hobies are just tons of fun... you feel like you are doing 50mph when you're doing 7... great times!
It's undescribable the release from what was , disappeared only night sailing did that for me .
Ran- day , what a great guy to come aboard and give his advice. Bomb& sinker!
Funny and knowledgeable!
It’s nice to have a true Archeologist visit your dig 😊
Hahahaha spot on! Cheers
What a guy. I could be with people like this all day. Can you imagine how much knowledge is standing there.
So much knowledge… he’s renovated 18 wooden boats and built almost 500 boats at Shannon… and he continues to innovate and file new patents… just a wealth of knowledge and also fun to be around 👍👍

Wow!! Thank You both for a truly memorable chat. Not to mention all the boat wisdom!! And putting the frighteners on poor Randay!! 😂😂😂😂😂

Glad to be of help, Kent!
Oh man what an episode. I could listen to Walter all night. Thanks Ran Day what a treat.

Easily, one of my favorite episodes.
Thanks Randy, I loved the scenes from Southwest Harrbor and Hinkley's. Walter's accent brought back many memories and his straight forward knowledge is fantastic. Keep up the good work from an old Mainiac now a Canuck.
And night sailing is the most peaceful and fantastic time. Experience it with a full moon and you will schedule monthly night sails.
Great episode Randy. Mr. Schulz was a wonderful guest. A true part of the history of the modern yacht industry. Thank you for having him aboard.
Thanks Matt! I Really enjoyed getting some time with him… glad you enjoyed it as well
32:40 That's the right word, cause you're gonna weep! Another belly laugh! I hope you can get Walter to inspect your improvements. 😅
Thank you for sharing a fraction of this man's knowledge. What a fascinating character.
THANK YOU RANNNNNN-DAYYYY!
THANK YOU VALTERRRRR !!!
We need more Walter, years of experience in a no nonsense package! Just tells it like it is.
Randay, to have Walter on your boat was amazing. Thanks for being humble. You and captain Q are welcome to come and do a show in key west. We are putting our 60 ft schooner on the market . But not before the Captain and you offer her to your fans. You can stay on the schooner
awesome episode Rand Day thanks for sharing the dialogue (lesson) with an amazing boat expert. He's obviously obviously a fan of the channel
16:45 Walter is a piece of work! Unfortunately, he's not yacht club material. 😂
How entertaining was this the best U Tube vid ever, I wish we all had a Walter going over our boats - what a legend!! Thanks Randaaaaa :)
This is so good. You have hit on something here. Interview current boat builders who are innovating, interesting, and have years of experience and perspective. Brooklyn Boat Yard comes to mind. Thanks for sharing this.
Best episode yet. Common sense, a much forgotten commodity. Thank you .
I’m a great admirer of Shannon Yachts. It was a real treat to see Walter Schulz giving you sage advice on your boat
What a TREAT! Awesome episode! Schulz is a legend and I can't believe you got him on camera!
Mr. Schultz seems like a really nice and knowledgeable guy. Keep the good stuff coming Randall.
Maybe he could talk your wife into enjoying some sailing?
I will second his comments about sailing at night with its peace, solace and serenity, and the stars. Night sailing is the best sailing.
Walter Schultz is a treasure... thank you
That was fantastic! What an opportunity for Ran-day 😊
Great video, Walter Schutz story telling at the best. I can listen to him for hours on end. Another great treasure with so much knowledge and experience in the boating world. Thanks for sharing with us.
To have Walter on your boat and giving you the pearls he’s offering is priceless. Wow, you’re so fortunate. Really cool.
Randy, that was your best episode yet! My search for a Shannon begins now! I also enjoy sailing in the dark. It’s like sailing into the unknown.
Thanks for Walter....great Churchill quote.
Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers!
This guys is awesome!! I love his take on life and boat sense!
Hey Ran-Day -
Score!
Walter is an incredible guy. Glad you had this chance to talk with him.
Thanks for talking to Walter. He is fascinating and a wealth of knowledge.
“Hi I’m Randall” makes me laugh every time. Much ❤and appreciation Ran-day. Great content keep it up and we’ll always be here 😊
Thanks! Will do!
Mr schulz the best of the rest. Beautifull boats.
Thanks very much!
Epic episode to see and hear the legendary Walter Schulz sharing his knowledge and wisdom in such a humorous, yet blunt and honest manner.
Very interesting. Walter is a no nonsense, down to earth person.great vlog
How great that you got to visit with such a LEGEND! Shannon's are top of my (dream) wishlist!
Just adding, I'm inspired by Walter's advice that "(above all) it has to be FUN!".
I miss Q but this is a great video. All your videos are a good way to get old school sailing experience passed down to the next generation.
Walter is EPIC! I love his authentic quotable assessments!
Thanks very much, Gordon!! Good eye!! Wish I caught that in real time!! We have to protect our coaches!! Cheers
Another fantastic video guys! Walter is a legend and he is right
.The closest thing to heavean is bearing witness to the amazing display the night sky beings forth. Northern light and metor showers..seeing those really puts one in their place!
Couldn’t agree more… add in some bioluminescence in that recipe!! 😍
The guy is a legend. Absolutely love, listening to his sage wisdom.
So enjoyable...what a morning coffee treat.
What a wonderful gentleman and sailor to have on your boat ! Vast knowledge and advice.thanks for sharing!! I could listen to him for hours!!well done Randall
Fair winds ⛵️
I met Walter at Shannon 20 years ago… very helpful in every way…he was restoring a beautiful 20s era power cruiser
First and foremost what a fantastic guest and interview
to comment though. The purpose of a freeze plug is when they’re manufacturing the engine block there are sand cores inside the mold of the engine block that must be broken down and taken out as space holders for your water jackets as will as oil passages they hold the spaces in the casting the molten material flows around these sand cores and is removed and some are actually machine I would replace them with bronze freeze plugs
Your tanks that are 5052 aluminum are OK but if ever replaced you should go to a 6068 marine grade aluminum you could find this in the Coast Guard specs for vessels for hire. It’s just a better product. It does cost a little more than 5052 but once again, what a fantastic guest , you and the captain do an awesome job say hi to Sea dog
Great episode. Walter is very informative and entertaining.
What a great segment, extremely informative and entertaining to boot. Not surprising, that's what we have come to expect from this channel.
I don't think that I've ever seen a bad video from you guys, have alway really enjoyed your channel, but this was VERY special!!! Could listen to that man all day! Had to say something, because a thumbs up was Not gonna do it justice! Thank You!
Wow, thank you! much appreciated
Good thoughts on the lazaret... looks like a simple redesign is the option I'll be going with. cheers!
