I have 15k hours. Every league has a major chance of disrupting the market or meta.. the rare thing that happened over the last 3 leagues is no gem updates. Some rare ones.. but now we have very interesting mechanics to be discovered with something like ice spear of splitting..... I'll shush...

Given that you mentioned Sockets and coloring with Chromatics, it's worth mentioning that the gear is weighted in terms of what color rolls on which pieces based on stat requirements for the gear and/or the defensive type. So an Item with Armor (Strength based) will roll more red sockets, Energy Shield (Intelligence based) will roll more blue sockets, and Evasion (Dexterity based) will roll more green with hybrid items being more likely to roll both than the third kind. There are also two other sockets on gear you will find, White Sockets which you can get on corrupted items or craft using late game content which can accept any color gem, and Abyssal sockets which allow you to put a special kind of Skill Tree jewel onto your gear.

Do you know where I can find info on what determines what the item looks like when you're looking at it on the ground? For example, I noticed some items have a blue outline around the name of the item? Like how the items that sell for a chromatic orb look a certain way
@@wheatman2170 The look of the items as they are on the ground is customizable based on the item filter (Along with sound effects). You can find out the meaning of the customizations at the website of the designer of the filter. The video shows a very popular one called Neversink which has strictness levels which hide and highlight items based on the minimum value you want to engage with. You may find yourself using one filter early game and another late game as your time becomes more valuable.

My tip for you as you go forward is don't shy away from trading and if you enjoy the game, look into the paid tabs. The game isn't pay to win, but I would tell anyone who plays this game to invest in QOL features like the currency and fragment tabs.
@chasebemis6592 so I assume the NS option on the loot filter is neversink? I'm playing on console and it has a bunch of different NS (regular-uber) in the filter options.

Thank you so much for this. I got into POE this league finally and felt such utter frustration at the amount of “beginner” guides that were obviously not meant for beginners. I think it’s hard for people with a lot of experience in a game to remember what it’s like in those early days and what information is actually useful to learn at that time. Instead they will focus on concepts they have learned are important for the later parts of the game they engage with the most, which makes it hard to convey meaningful ideas to actual beginners. Appreciate this greatly for people who are just beginning, only wish you’d made it a couple of weeks ago!
I started playing last league to man, it is frustrating. But keep playing, take breaks when you need them and experiment with Everything. You'll get it. Your second league will feel so much better I promise.

Solid. As a pretty new player myself this covered a ton of things that tripped me up early on. Well done.
To anyone who doesn't like the idea of following a guide, I would argue that the main point of doing that is to help accelerate your understanding of how certain mechanics and scaling interact to make a character well rounded enough to make it into the end game.
Don't be afraid of deviating from a guide too based on your own situation (and if you're in SSF you'll be forced to since you only have access to the gear you find yourself).
Think of guides more like a template to expedite your understanding of the game, not a strict checklist you have to follow.

I didn't know Path of Exile, I should consider it for my own channel, from what I've seen here it's an interesting game with a lot of builds potential 😮
If you've never played it before it'll take you years(yes literally years) to be able to actually experience any builds you'll want to that arent league start builds(which are a problem in itself).

The best builds are 80/20 or 60/40. That's where you follow the build guide up to a point, then do what you want. I like adding minions to builds that don't normally have them.
It won't take you years, if you listen to other players and streamers. I'd suggest a few, Zizaran, GhazzyTV, mBxtreme, and Bigducks.
Also you might want to start a Witch minion build as your first character. ✌️

I wish this guide was out 2 weeks ago when I started, just like you I spent hours watching very long drawn out "new player" tutorials with most of the info not really relevant for leveling and them skipping over important information that I did need to know. I didn't about trading 3 color linked items for chromatic orbs that should be very helpful. Appreciate the videos and the channel
Extra tips:
1) If you are low on identify scrolls, portal scrolls can be sold at vendor to get an equivalent amount of identify scrolls. For the first few hours you won't have enough of either, but after that you will start stacking up portal scrolls and still have an insatiable hunger for identifies. If you are really hard up, some early game orbs sell for identify scrolls too, but those have more long term value, so I would not lean on that too much.
2) Don't be afraid to just grind extra kills to get yourself 5-10 levels over the content you are doing. If you press tab to put the map overlay on, the place where the mini map was at in the upper right corner will be replaced with some info about where you are, including the level of monsters there.
3) If you have killed everything but want to grind some more on mobs where you are at, you can click on a waypoint, then hold control and click on the zone you want to farm in. It will open up a screen that lets you pick the instance of that zone you will go into, including the option for a fresh new instance filled with monsters awaiting their destruction at your hands.
That is all terrible advice.
1) Alterations/Whetstones/Armourer's Scraps all vendor for 4 Wisdom Scrolls and the latter two aren't worth all that much during the campaign (an attack character might use a few Whetstones for the %phys weapon vendor recipe, but putting quality on the gear you're running through the campaign is just a waste when you're going to toss it in a few acts). Don't vendor Portal Scrolls.
2+3) 5 levels over is fine, 10 is overkill. It's not 2014 where you need to join Docks XP parties to grind levels in order to have enough power to kill Merciless Piety. A new player that is exploring all of the areas and killing most things will most likely be 3-5 levels over the campaign monster level (I'm sure I hit 6 over during Affliction without really trying to), and there comes a point where more passive points will have diminishing returns for the player and you need to upgrade your gear/skills, so grinding areas for XP is just delaying how long it takes for you to get to the good part of the game (maps).
They are not tips for 100% optimal play or speedrunning. They are tips for making the onboarding process easier for new players.
For your third and later characters, someone can know the limits of advice like what I offered and when it starts getting inefficient, but for your first or second character, giving yourself leeway to be inefficient in these areas can give you more brainspace for all the other concepts you are having to take in.
And the "consequences" of going to far on either of these are next to nothing. If you sell too many portal scrolls, you will find more in the next 15 minutes and immediately be good to go with one inconvenience and knowledge that you went too hard on selling them. If you over level by 10 and you build doesn't need it, you will quickly blow by content when you start trying to do it, and close the level gap until you get to a comfortable point.
How many portal scrolls can a person possibly need? In campaign, its almost always better to just drop to character select. And by the time you get to maps the amount of identify and portal scrolls solves itself. I didn't say to trade all of them, but you can keep a stack of 40 portals and anything past that seems pretty expendable.
And again, I am not advocating that someone MUST overlevel by 10. Just that its okay if you do, if you don't feel like your gear or build is clicking yet. Its not necessary if you are running a meta build but if you are someone insisting to run your own build, and find yourself wanting to grind to overleveled by 10, you can do that if it makes the game work for you without feeling bad about it. Every night there are folks in global chat saying they are 3-5 levels over the content they are trying and having trouble, but worried they are doing something horrendously wrong. For speedrunning, yeah they probably are. For a new player experience, nah, they are probably fine and if they need to overlevel even more to progress, thats fine and to be expected at times.

Oh thank goodness! I've been playing along on the PS5 (Pretty good honestly!) and even pouring through the comments, watching extra videos, and generally being fairly clever by nature. I just keep smacking into walls of system interaction, knowing which ones I can ignore until when and what to prioritise is a massive help. There is sooooo many mechanics in this game, try not to learn all at once. But there are vendor recipes, that are quite easy.
3 x (the same) potion bottle = bottle tier better
Do not sell quicksilver flask. They would be helpful later.
I just started poe too. Love it! Love the crafting even though I only know the basics maybe a bit more now. And it is pretty straightforward if you have played other arpg's in the past. Can't wait to see what poe 2 has to offer.
Don’t forget to use the trade market to get gear when crafting into expensive or too difficult! Extremely helpful in the mid game when you’re trying to get better gear

Be sure to right click on your stash tabs you can set the affinity for item sorting
On the very first map its best to run straight to hillock and not bother with the trash mobs.
This is because the game gives you the level up no matter what after you killed hillock. It basically fills up the exp bar until level up so you dont gain additional exp by killing mobs.
And you might otherwise end up with empty flasks when finally facing Hillock which makes the whole fight much more difficult than it needs to be.

Honestly, I'm going to be playing this game for the first time pretty soon here. I actually don't want to use a build guide because I'm only ever going to get to play this game fresh once. So I want to experience it blind.
Thats fine and what i personally did, just know that you will at some point hit a wall, it is possible to farm for respect points in end game.
Don’t feel discouraged if you character starts to fall of in end game. Making new characters is a normal thing. Even most experienced players play 2-3 characters a season

side note each mission combat area is an instant and an instant last ruffly 8-15 minutes untill it is deleted, if not inside! and at entrances and waypoint one can force a new instant of a area if needed what reset all loot, enemies and chests. standard has little limitation to forced instance creation, where current season is slightly more restricted at forced instant creation.
this can be helpfull for multiple split area quest and if you encounter a beefy spawn that you just do not want to deal with or just wish to reset for loot.
Missing crucial info about managing cost/mana/reservation. And defenses. At level 10 you can get vitality and clarity aura, even with not leveling them up too much (reserves too much mana) they fix any issues with HP or Mana. At level 24 you can get Determination aura, if you have determination + vitality you can facetank almost any content in campaign.

if you start out in standard mode can you switch to affliction league?? or do you have to start a new character?
Another advice on resistances: it's generally a good idea to be above the default cap of 75% as some mobs cast curses to lower your resistances, effectively reducing them below 75 and even more

A lot of those hours-long videos you mentioned are the result of kind-a-lazy content creators who often just take their twitch videos without a proper script to go through the topic.
So if you manage to create more Videos like this in the future the community will thank you
I've been playing on and off for about 7 years, and still haven't explored everything. There's still skills I haven't even taken to t16 maps, and I've never completed the absolute end-game. Still, it's fun almost every league I dip into. Even when there's a 'bad' league, I end up playing some characters in standard with some accumulated gear, so no matter what, if you play casually long enough, you'll be able to do *a lot* of the content in the game.
Can't edit on mobile for some reason: I highly recommend playing along with a vod of a speed runner like Tytykiller to get some tips for going through the acts once you've played through them once or twice on your own. There's so many tricks you can do to cut the time you spend rushing to maps during a new league that you can shave your times down to 6 to 8 hours comfortably. Being in maps after 2 play sessions really helps with feeling fatigued over playing through the same content more than once.

Its insane that u get Burning Arrow so early, at least for me at the moment its a great DPS Skill in ACT3. Dont know how well it will do in Endgame but currently i am rocking it. Its my "Make this enemy Disappear pls and tank u"-Button
There are tons of builds able to kill the strongest enemies in the game with skills available at level one - the availability of the skill in no way determines its ability to scale well during leveling or endgame
@@jhonka Maybe, i wouldnt know. But i also never said it isnt like that. I am just suprised u get such a strong skill so early. U dont see that very often in games these days. At least i cant think of many

I love playing PoE but my problem is I have limited time to play and I find that I spend 90% of my time looking stuff up and 10% of my time actually playing. I’ve been following a maxroll guide for SRS Gaurdian and it was pretty simple to follow while I was going through the campaign. Now I’ve got to Maps and I’m totally lost. Have no idea what to do, where to go, what items I need and best places to farm. It ends up being too overwhelming that I hesitate to even play it.
Hard to tell from this comment what you do and don't know about maps already. There are a number of maxroll guides about the atlas under maxroll -> poe -> getting started -> atlas guides. Essentially the basic goal is to unlock atlas passive tree points by completing maps with certain requirements, working your way up the tiers of maps getting the atlas passive points for each map. Those points allow you to improve your maps in a large variety of ways, e.g. to get more drops, run certain types of content more, get more xp, etc. Ideally you work your way up the map tiers getting these points while making a little bit of currency along the way to craft or buy better gear. Basically the more atlas passive points you have, the easier it will be to make currency or get items using the mechanics you enjoy the most. As you get to higher map tiers some quests will unlock regarding certain endgame bosses, etc.
Regarding items, most maxroll guides will have some recommendation for mid game items and later end game items, depending which guide you're following it should have some recommendations on gear to strive for.

There are only 2 Advise u need (Warning i didnt played past Act3 - working on it - and am definitly not fit to give advise)
1. 80% of the Passiv tree are stats and irrelelvant - use the searchbar to find the cool shit
2. Never leave Town without a Teleportscroll
Thats it, now play the game with a build thats fun and cool just to realize in the endgame that its inefficent as fuck and u need to respec for harder content like in every online game.

Quick question in the thumbnail it shows lvl 1 - lvl 100, question is, have you even reached lvl 95 let alone 100? Live your videos, i have never beem past 97 personally but i have only played the last 3 seasons since D4 beta, and inwas looking for something like it, and found POE to be the GOAT of ARPG'S!
Incorrect. Do not start on the league. Always first playthrough should be on Standard. Especially considering the complete irrelevance of the economy for new users. Challenger is fun for secondary character after beating the game. It's more of a fun test version for new mechanics. Standard is the real game completed. The best choice to for beginners.

The problem with doing that in PoE is that there are very limited ways of repeccing your build. You can change gems (skills) etc. but changing the tree will not happen for most players until end game, except for a few points now and then. Following a guide will both reduce frustration and teach how to build your own later.

As a beginner, you shouldn't complain too much as a beginner when people are giving you good information. Playing through an ARPG's levels on softcore leagues isn't difficult, but learning how to play PoE is. You can waste hundreds of hours of your time if you miss certain pieces of information trying to rush through the game without knowing anything. So they have to communicate all the things they do to players. It isn't "unnecessary" or "unhelpful" to tell a new player about mechanics that they're going to encounter very soon. It's frustrating to be a new player, but you're going to get better as you go so there's no reason to be afraid of learning the game you're trying to learn.
This is a joke as me a new player who watched less than 0 videos on what to do already know that pretty much everything you’ve said is a joke.don’t trash the things that could be used (the ones that take up a single space and don’t have stats themselves)and class matters a lot and if your new you should be a witch or the fast and strong guy(forgot what he’s called)
An off-puttingly steep learning curve does this game no favours. Don’t get me wrong, I want to like this game but it’s not very user friendly (edit) uninstalled in frustration

I had installed it and then took one look at all the abilities and the paragon board and uninstalled. So overwhelming.
Pick a character, only zoom in on the small part where that chacrter starts on the tree and take it step by step :D It's 100% worth it, or have a look at Zizaran, he has a lot of good build guides that make it easier for you to follow allong!

Thats not even the bad part of the game lol.
PoEs issues are its design choices when it comes to gear progression(forcing you to trade for the vast majority of builds to progress in a reasonable time frame)
And general viable build diversity and the absolute terrible concept of needing a league starter(which very few builds actually function on league start) instead of it being viable to just start whatever skill(NOT BUILD. SKILL.) you'd like.
You can finish the campaign with any skill you like, it just takes a bit longer. You can also craft most of your gear to be ready for maps easily. Idk what time frame you feel like is reasonable to progress but it's all easily possible.. League starters only exist because they are easier to gear, scale and get your voidstones with. But anything can be viable with enough investment/time@@TheCosmicAstro-

I recently tried poe after seeing the class trailer for poe2. Diablo 4 is vastly superior. Not just because it's 10 years old made by a indie developer but because it's boring. There's really only 1 class with varying degrees of specialization since they can all use any skill gem and same passive board. The only difference comes with the tiny pool of ascendancy passives and how their main passive board connects from the start.
Most mobs look like glowing blobs. I just kill blobs of enemies with little to no distinction other than how they attack me. Then i get to a boss and it's difficulty spikes wildly compared to everything else leading up to it in the act.
The maps are too big with too many dead ends. Moving along in the campaign feels tedious especially when you must re explore areas because the fog of war returns.
Finally there's many builds that become obsolete very quickly making them totally worthless like my siege ballista. As a new player i liked being able to drop little turrets to shoot multi bleed projectiles until i realized they did trash damage and i wasted skill points to buff only to have to gather special resources to slowly but steadily refund those points into something else.
I quit in act 6 there's no point. I'll just play something else until d4 s3 starts...
