- Born in Marrakech, Hassan Hakmoun is the premier exponent of Moroccan Gnawa trance music in America and a commanding figure in world music circles. While punching out a groove on the sintir,a bass lute, his ecstatic vocals invoke the spirits of healing through chants of praise to the Prophet Mohammad and the saints. His music is a spellbinding blend of North African and Arab melodies with West African rhythms. He will be accompanied by his brother Abderrahim Hakmoun on vocals and qraqeb (Gnawa metal castanets.)

منذ مدة طويلة وأنا أبحث عن هذا الفنان في اليوتيوب، لقد وجدته وكم أنا سعيد جدا بذلك كانت أول مرة أستمع له سنة 2002 عندما ترك عندي أحد أصدقائي شريط كاسيط وهو طارق قجيجي الملقب بالكناوي ابن حي كارتي غولة في مدينة مكناس وكم كنت أستمتع بذلك الشريط أيام الولكمان والحياة البسيطة الجميلة.
حسن حكمون هاجر إلى أمريكا في بداية الثمانينات لهاد لايعرفه أحد

نعم اخي، هذا حسن حكمون ابن مدينة مراكش ابن حيينا القصبة هاجر الى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية في الثمانينات بالظبط نيويورك فنان گناوي كبير جدا لعب الى جانب بيتر غابريال و امام ستيفي ووندر و غيرهم و الأروع انه لعب في اكبر مهرجان عالمي في الولايات المتحدة و هو مهرجان "وودستوك" سنة اربع و تسعون، و هو يتردد كثيرا على المغرب و شارك في وثائقي امريكي كبير عن التراث الموسيقي المغربي الى جانب نعمان لحلو. تحياتي
I am a fan of Hassan since the 90s. I remember a concert in Belgium with hamida boussou and Hassan Hakmoun. This was the best Lila I have ever seen. I will never forget this night. Thank you Kouyou😊

Hassan is a Moroccan treasure, the best Guembri player by far, I've never heard anything like it, I wish if he had played Lala Mira and Lbahoulla too

That Guembri sounds awesome, reaches deep into your soul. The only thing I have to complain about is that the songs, the rhythms and the lyrics are always the same.
Because it’s ancestral you dont change the tradition you feel it
