- In this, the 21st Annual SEC Championship Game, the #2 Alabama Crimson Tide and #3 Georgia Bulldogs faced off in what amounted to a national semi-final with the winner on their way to play #1 Notre Dame in the BCS National Championship in Miami. In what is without a doubt the greatest game in SEC Championship history, the Crimson Tide rushed for 350 yards (a championship game record) en-route to a 32-28 victory over the Bulldogs.

The TJ Yeldon run on 3rd and 5 at 17:50 was the biggest single individual effort offensive play in this game that won it. Obviously Mosely individual defensive play at the end sealed it.
yea its pretty hard to tell a guy who you've been screaming at everyday to CATCH THE BALL to then not catch it when the game is down to its last couple of plays. tough to do.

2010-2014 was probably the best era ever In cfb because you had so much talent and great QBs , you had aj , murry , mettenburger,johnny football , tyler Wilson , bray ,moriota , Barkley , Landry jones , Braxton miller , jt barret ,Winston. I'm missing some but that era of QBs and the competition was amazing and now for the next couple years there won't be anywhere near to the great amount of QBs un cfb

Best game I ever watched.
Greatest football game I will probably ever go to, so much was on the line. I've never heard the Georgia dome that loud since then. I didn't think Bama had it in them after they returned the kick back. But after that it was on, truly an amazing game.
Why the hate towards UGA? Both teams played well, Bama came out on top. No need to hate on UGA for anything, esp if you're an SEC fan. Hate on schools / conferences that are hating on us as a whole, not on an SEC team of 4 years ago that played well and barely lost to a slightly better SEC team.

So wild to see how much the quarterbacks, although made big throws, didn’t matter as much as the running game. This was 5/6 years ago a. It is amazing to watch the game change. Love it.
I'm still throughly convinced that if UGA had time for one more play they would've gotten done. Poor dude just reacted to the ball like any recover would. Credit to Bama they defected the ball and made the plays when they had to.
Maybe they would have maybe they wouldn't it's hard to say but I do know after that INT was overturned the bama defense seemed out of whack, I think even saban said something about that after the game. But yeah it was sad to see a lot of people come down hard on the dude that caught the ball, anybody else would have did the same thing because they're trained to catch balls not drop them plus the pass was never originally intended for him it got tipped his way an he caught it out of instinct knowing two bama defenders were around that might pick it off.

That rushing attack was nasty by Alabama, it's like you knew it was coming and you couldn't stop it.
Well, since this is the last time Georgia and Alabama played, it certainly adds to the excitement, intensity, and build-up to the October 3, 2015 game when the Crimson Tide visits Athens. The average asking price for tickets in the secondary market (StubHub and SeekGeek, etc.) is about $1500 for a decent pair. That stadium will be absolutely electric. The excitement will be about like a rock concert by U2, The Rolling Stones, and Bruce Springsteen rolled into one (and heck, since the game is in Athens, let's reunite REM, too).
Based on what Alabama did to Wisconsin, they have to be the favorites. Both coaches like to run, but Alabama's offensive line is easily the best in college football. Their offensive line (and Lacy) won the 2012 Championship Game. Georgia's defense is young and I don't see them stopping Alabama on the ground any more effectively than in this game.
Georgia also has a good offensive line, just not as good as Alabama's, and some great backs, but Alabama's defense looked like an immovable object against Wisconsin. (Where was that defense against Ohio State?) Georgia will need to have a balanced attack to move the ball and with a new quarterback, and young receivers, their passing game is suspect.
I don't think home field will have any effect. In 2007, Georgia beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa; in 2008, Alabama won in Athens.
Georgia is more likely to have a loss. South Carolina has beaten them 4 of the last 5 years, including 2012, when they crushed this Georgia team 35-7, their only other loss. The evil genius seems to have their number. I don't see Alabama losing again to Ol' Miss. If both teams are 4-0, I think this helps Georgia because it would be demoralizing to lose again to SC.
I'd make Alabama 10 to 14 point favorites. Georgia will need some breaks. If they can get a couple of turnovers, a special teams touchdown, and keep it close into the fourth quarter when the crowd can make a difference, it's a pick-em game. I hope so, because the excitement that makes college football the world's greatest spectator sport will be palpable, much as it was in the truly great 2012 Championship game.

I don't get all the comments that UGA "should have spiked the ball"
The only time you need to spike the ball is when you don't have a play ready. It's obvious UGA had already been prepared for the first and goal situation and had a play ready. They ran it. Moseley deflected it, the short guy caught it, and slipped. Had it been incomplete, they still would have had another play, totalling two plays, same as they would have had had they spiked the ball. The guy caught the ball by pure instinct. ANY other player in the country would have done the same. It's just not in our nature to drop a pass we can catch.

I remember watching this game in Boston at a family member's house. I was just lost for words when it ended.
What I like about Alabama is their confident about the game. When they lead they can find a way to finish. When things didn't go their way, just like this game when the FG was blocked for a TD and they lost momentum, they can always gather together and find a way to come back. They don't give up and don't panic. Just like this year's national championship game. Of course give Georgia a lot of credits. They dragged Bama into last second for both games

In retrospect I wonder if that blocked punt for the TD hurt UGA. Had to send the defense right back out on the field to try to slow down the Bama running back tandem. Georgia's D was pretty gassed by the end of the game. Regardless what a game. Go Dawgs!

Not really a lot of skill players that could play in space. More smash mouth back then. One elite receiver, two good college running backs. They certainly have more weapons now. This team was about the championship mentality of AJ McCarron and that mean nasty offensive line. Up until this point (2012), this was my favorite championship version of Bama, although I thought the 2010 team was more talented than this one. What are your thoughts? I like this team the best because the level of QBs they faced was better than other championship teams (2009, 2011). And, they won 2/3 of their toughest games, all of which could have went the other way. They could have lost this one and the LSU game, and they almost came back and won the Johnny Manziel game...The quality of games this particular season still has not been matched. They been smashing people unmercifully (except Clemson and Ohio State). In this 2012 season, they truly earned it. Up until Jalen Hurts worked his magic in relief this past season, this was still my favorite Bama-Georgia game.

You are gonna be the starting QB for a Georgia team with a shot at the national championship you must wear jersey #11. It does seem like every time Georgia has a good team the QB wears #11 sometimes #14. This game was loaded with NFL caliber talent on both teams.
