- The shortest yet most epic,the Atlantic Road stretches for 8.3 kilometers between Eide & Averøy in Møre og Romsdal. It consists of six bridges & takes you through some incredible looking archipelagos & peninsulas.
Based on a number of factors & on a survey done by GPS producer TomTom of 14,000 drivers across Europe, psychologist Dr. David Holmes has named the Atlantic Road the best summer drive on the continent.
Factors included the number of hills & bends in the drives, volume of traffic, scenery, remoteness of the road & weather. With all of that taken into consideration, the Atlantic Road placed first ahead of the Estoril Ocean Drive in Portugal and the North Coast 500 in the Scottish Highlands, to mention some.
Mapped up against the formula, the beautiful scenery surrounding the Atlantic Road, the high quality road and midnight sun during the summer made it the top pick for Dr. Holmes.
