One technique I use is to back out and have another go if I get hurt or poisoned. That way I keep the maximum attacking time instead of recovering during the timer.

Lock forelegs and when he take rock smash his forelegs from behind for great dps, that way you avoid rock. If you have luck you can block him with critical attc when he start digging for the rock. Gl!
It's certainly not easy. I cleared it at 7 stars using Grade 6 Legiana Dual blades with Ice attack 5. With my armor, it one shotted or two shotted me but I managed to take it down with good gameplay and I think one FAM. The episode where I did will come out tomorrow or Tuesday.
Bro I’ve been using duel blades for so long and I’m switching to Long sword and I SUCK rn I get so mad I have to re learn the timings and learn how to do the counter dash
I have been struggling with DPS I am a SS main I have grade 7 elemental weapons and I have critical eye lv.3 concentration lv.2 fortify lv.2 weakness exploit lv. 1 rising tide lv.1 and lock on so I can always hit the head! Any one have suggestion? Would I be better off not waring about affinity and getting elemental damage instead?
You would be MUCH better off focusing on elemental damage builds with elemental damage weapons. Unfortunately it's just way stronger. I switch between Raw and elemental depending on the weaknesses of the monster and the grade of my weapon that I can currently build, but a 4-5 elemental attack is almost always going to be better.
Can someone please explain how to unlock 8 star monsters? I just beat the season story and still don't think that worked. Is it because I had to turn the difficulty down for black diablos?
@HuntersNotez That's ridiculous. All my armor and weapons are as maxed as they can get without wyvern gems. So how am I supposed to beat the 7 star story if maxed gear still isn't enough...

Try to stay behind him especially if you're using lock on. Be like diagonally behind.

@Bartman610nhmkfdsf You CAN to keep the dps up, but I mean stand to his side behind his arms, next to his legs and aim for the arms.
If you have Lock on, when he picks up a rock change lock on to his legs. Once he doesn't hold rock anymore then switch forelegs or head.

Why are you not using lock on with DB? You will get much better results hitting weak point more often.

Dude, LS feels SO slow to me after using DB, but that counter is SO nice. I love that every weapon has their trade offs.

Yeah, you have to beat the 7 star story fully in 7 stars.
