In the 90’s, Roseanne tackled issues of race, homosexuality, and other civil rights fights back then. And she was criticized back then for it. I didn’t see Seinfeld or Friends even attempting to take on those issues. She has been fighting for all people for a long time.

There is not a single scenario that I can conceive of in which The Conners can succeed. Roseanne *is* that show. She’s the sarcastic, shrill, no bullshit Sun around which this entire show revolves. This isn’t like replacing Diane with Rebecca on Cheers. Removing her is like removing Al Bundy from Married with Children or Archie Bunker from All in the Family. She’s that level of importance to this show. And don’t get me wrong, Laurie Metcalf is, and has always been hilarious as Jackie. And John Goodman’s birthday should be a national holiday, as far as I’m concerned. But there’s a reason that the show was called “Roseanne” and not “Dan and Jackie”.

They even pulled the reruns of classic "Roseanne" on TVLand when the media freaked out over her tweet, which I hated because "Roseanne" is probably my favorite sitcom ever, right up there with "I Love Lucy" and "The Golden Girls". I can rewatch all of those shows over and over again endlessly. But the whole reason "Roseanne" even exists at all is because of ROSEANNE!!! Back in the day when I watched "Rosanne" I was always unexpectedly surprised how good each episode was and how well the controversial topics were presented and handled 👏.
I believe she's been killed off. I respect that she stepped aside so the others could work but it's still sad it all went down like this. I've admired Rosanne Barr since I was a kid, grew up watching the show. My own mother died when I was three and my Dad raised me by himself. So, I felt a little bit of connectivity to the way she loved her children and family. But I think that was a lot of kids. She was the mom a lot of us connected with.
You made Roseanne and without you it is NOTHING!! I was on bed rest and told I was going to die when I had my first child.But every week at least for half an hour I forgot all about that and laughed my ass off and it was all thanks to one woman telling her story on tv.
I watched the 1st episode of The Conners. Just out of curiousity. It wasn't terrible, but only because it seemed like Roseanne was in the other room or whatever. I doubt it will last, bc eventually it will be out if content. This entire episode was centered on Roseanne. What will next week's be? And the week after that? I think ABC screwed up. I have and I can tell you, for awhile you go thru this thing where you feel like they are in the next room or just at work etc. You can be discussing them one moment and surprised not to see them in their favorite chair the next. The new season of Roseanne was one of the best seasons of sitcoms ever made!! I grew up on Roseanne, and this new season really resonated with me and was absolutely amazing. It was absolutely tragic when it was cancelled, and made me truly sad. The seasons of "The Conners" still have a similar vibe, but it really doesn't feel right without Roseanne on it. I want to give her props for that season; amazing writing, amazing acting, amazing characters.

James Gunn makes dozens of tweets talking about touching little boys and wanting to be touched by little boys (including participating in a pedophile themed "party") and everyone on those Guardians of the Galaxy movies defends that. Disney, which owns both Marvel and ABC, reacted the same way to both. I thought they were wrong both times. However, there is a difference. James Gunns comments were a bad joke told years ago which he has long since made up for and demonstrated true remorse. Roseanne's comments were a contemporary continuation of a pattern that had worried the studio so much that Sara Gilbert had to promise she would keep Roseanne under control (which of course she had no ability to do, nobody controls Roseanne). So I understand why some people want James Gunn to keep the job and not Roseanne. But Disney has been consistent, as have I, even though I disagree with Disney.
That's the problem with the current social media SJW culture. One bad comment or misplaced word and they will eat you alive. They will turn on their own on a heartbeat so they have no problem doing this to anyone. It's a shame that there is little loyalty or support in the industry...or anywhere it seems. I genuinely love this woman. I lost my mother young. We watched her on prime time from the beginning. Her mothering was so adorable and my mom was so similar in look and attitude. I have all dvds and my Mother has been gone for 28 years now and as I approach the age of 49 I continue to play those dvds as ambient sound. Roseanne is relatable to many, young and old. It's funny how all of her costars were *given the opportunity to take part in her show's revival last year, but instead of standing by Roseanne, they essentially all sided with ABC. There is not a single scenario that I can conceive of in which The Conners can succeed. Roseanne *is* that show. She’s the sarcastic, shrill, no bullshit Sun around which this entire show revolves. This isn’t like replacing Diane with Rebecca on Cheers. Removing her is like removing Al Bundy from Married with Children or Archie Bunker from All in the Family. She’s that level of importance to this show. And don’t get me wrong, Laurie Metcalf is, and has always been hilarious as Jackie. And John Goodman’s birthday should be a national holiday, as far as I’m concerned. But there’s a reason that the show was called “Roseanne” and not “Dan and Jackie”.

I believe she's been killed off. I respect that she stepped aside so the others could work but it's still sad it all went down like this. I've admired Rosanne Barr since I was a kid, grew up watching the show. My own mother died when I was three and my Dad raised me by himself. So, I felt a little bit of connectivity to the way she loved her children and family. But I think that was a lot of kids. She was the mom a lot of us connected with.
You made Roseanne and without you it is NOTHING!! I was on bed rest and told I was going to die when I had my first child.But every week at least for half an hour I forgot all about that and laughed my ass off and it was all thanks to one woman telling her story on tv.

I watched the 1st episode of The Conners. Just out of curiousity. It wasn't terrible, but only because it seemed like Roseanne was in the other room or whatever. I doubt it will last, bc eventually it will be out if content. This entire episode was centered on Roseanne. What will next week's be? And the week after that? I think ABC screwed up. We have all said things we wish we could take back for a million reasons. But we don't lose our jobs or our legacy over it.

I have and I can tell you, for awhile you go thru this thing where you feel like they are in the next room or just at work etc. You can be discussing them one moment and surprised not to see them in their favorite chair the next. It takes time to wear off. The episode reminded me of that feeling. Maybe bc the acting was good. Maybe just bc it's a very close subject for me. Who knows.

The new season of Roseanne was one of the best seasons of sitcoms ever made!! I grew up on Roseanne, and this new season really resonated with me and was absolutely amazing. It was absolutely tragic when it was cancelled, and made me truly sad. The seasons of "The Conners" still have a similar vibe, but it really doesn't feel right without Roseanne on it. I want to give her props for that season; amazing writing, amazing acting, amazing characters.

I have watched Roseanne for years and I loved the show. When they did a reboot I was so excited and I would record the show. The show without her is definitely not the same.

Disney, which owns both Marvel and ABC, reacted the same way to both. I thought they were wrong both times. However, there is a difference. James Gunns comments were a bad joke told years ago which he has long since made up for and demonstrated true remorse. Roseanne's comments were a contemporary continuation of a pattern that had worried the studio so much that Sara Gilbert had to promise she would keep Roseanne under control (which of course she had no ability to do, nobody controls Roseanne). So I understand why some people want James Gunn to keep the job and not Roseanne. But Disney has been consistent, as have I, even though I disagree with Disney.
That's the problem with the current social media SJW culture. One bad comment or misplaced word and they will eat you alive. They will turn on their own on a heartbeat so they have no problem doing this to anyone.
It's a shame that there is little loyalty or support in the industry...or anywhere it seems.
