Thank you. This is the clearest explanation and demonstration of how to pronounce those "problem" consonants. Really appreciate the drawing of the tongue positions for each consonants.
Wow, this is quite details question! the "X" sound is like between English "S" and "SH."it’s softer than "SH" and doesn't involve the tongue fully curling back as in an English "SH" sound. the tongue is closer to the front of the mouth, sound is close to "S," but it’s not! but when pronouncing pinyin like this in Chinese, it’s more about where your tongue is. with these consonants as initials, there’s barely any sound by themselves; the real pronunciation comes from the vowel sounds that follow them. hope my explanation helps you!
I am not too sure about this lesson as a mandarin teacher once said that if your pronunciation is too good, the Chinese embassy will be suspicious you may be a spy of some sort and not give you a visa.
Thanks for this. Really useful and detailed demonstration. X sound is most harder for me to pronounce.
wow good to know!

This helped a lot. Thank you

Should the X sound be closer to S or SH? Native speakers sound like their X is closer to an S than a SH.
