Here's hoping CyberConnect 2 can just implement the mechanics of Kakarot into a game that allows for local battles a la Xenoverse, because honestly with that style of combat mixed with the sheer building options would be amazing.
I think Budokai 3 had the best beam struggle mechanic, it showed both players simultaneously firing, the screen jumps a bit to emphasize the heavy impact of the next scene/struggle, and a nice little detail from a gameplay standpoint - if someone enters their beam command - as their opponent, you were given maybe a second to a second and a half to enter in your command to cover their beam - almost kind of simulating a last minute response to their attack... recreates the drama akin to when Goku covers Nappa's mouth beam last second when they fought... crazy to think that game was out in '04

I played it and it's trash trust me, the idea sounds good but it just makes using beams always an innecesary risk, ultimate tenkaichi is really bad but it looked good
@@elilikepizza1344 that's an extremely idiotic move Almost all of the player base is online and cutting off a huge feature for that player base is stupid
Some of those games had beam struggles, you just used beams that didn't clash. Never use Special beam Cannon to clash, attacks like that one don't normally clash.
Yes, he messed up with burst limit, he has to use the normal Kamehameha and Galick gun, ultimates don’t beam clash in that game, which made me give him a dislike. Like come on man you gotta know your shit before making such a historic DB video.
@@TheAutumnGee i remember in tenkaichi 3, beams like kamehameha and gallick gun would often go through bombs (like spirit bomb) and "thinner" beams like special beam cannon and friezas finger death ray thing would often beat the regular beams. It has been a while though so i may be wrong
FighterZ has several different types of beams, too. Some hit once, some are multihit. And many times in case of Super beams, the first one to use it loses (unless it's something like Teen Gohan who can burn extra bars to continue hitting, like shown in the example).
6:44 what an interesting mechanic, where there’s no beam struggles at all, but there’s a little cutscene for if in case you do a beam struggle with Gohan and Cell
I love how Gohan's Level 5 in DBFZ works exactly as it does because of how it interacts with other beam level 3's and such. Spent 3/5 bars but your opponent used a level three to nullify it? Simply hold Super, burn 2 more bars and send a message lol
They should make you rapidly press a button and it will slowly eat up your meter. Depending on how late you counter beam, depends on how much meter it'll take to reach your opponent, that is if they don't decide to use their meter as well. If you both run out of meter, the person closest to the beam eats it.
A few days ago i actually did my dark rose kamehameha against a goku's kamehameha in DB legends and i had no idea there was beam struggle. I was hoping to see it in this video and you never let us down :D
@@Plsrateeight if they made it like the partner ultimates it'd be fine i suppose. Just have an opt-in for a teammate to help you against your beam struggle opponent. As long as it isn't anything like the Raid Boss mechanic lol

4:20 It's actually possible to do a Budokai 3 beam struggle with certain characters. In fact, it's possible to beam struggle a Super Kamehameha with a regular Galick Gun
Thank you for this. I just wish there was a DB game where if you win a super clash, you can use another super to push the beam struggle and ignite the blast
There are a lot of good contenders such as Budokai 3, Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and DBZ Kakarot. But the best for me is 2011 Ultimate Tenkaichi purely because its not a mess to watch and you can clearly see your progress from a distance. It was funny to see most games gave up on beam struggles 😂
Bt3 was my favorite game when i was a kid, but nowadays i think dbfz is by far the best db game, since It has the most solid mechanics, and as a fighting game, this should be the priority
Surprising how few games actually understood the value of a beam struggle and coded it properly. Almost just as notable, _Budokai 3_ 1:41 held its own as the most dramatic example for the longest time, and did so without any flashy camera angles.
Fascinating! Also I love how at Part 3:36 the timing was absolutely priceless! While I'm more into Xenoverse 1 and (especially now) Xenoverse 2, the one in X2 was hilarious at that last moment of "Oops!" X'D
Xenoverse1 is literally an Alpha release of Xenoverse2, I've played a crap ton of both I don't know how anyone could unironically say Xenoverse1 is preferred i'd rather die than downgrade to XV1.
I have not played all of these games but after watching all of them, I would give the top spot to Budokai 3 (2004). The way the beam struggles were triggered are very spontaneous, giving you very little time to think and react, which in my opinion, is probably an accurate representation of how a "real life" beam struggle would be like. This also means that the whole match wouldn't be bombarded with beam struggles as the timing to activate it is pretty strict. Visually, it was very easy to see who was winning the struggle (the 3rd party side perspective). And the mechanic of winning the beam struggle was determined by rotating the analog sticks faster than the opponent, which if you think about it, equates to whoever put in more "effort" in the struggle to push through. It seems like the most clear and fair way to resolve something like this. I quite like how the "DBZ: Ultimate Tenkaichi" beam struggle looks, it did a really good job of combining cinematics with practicality and mechanics. I only find it too accessible to activate the beam struggle given that it seems like you could have some time to consider your defensive options rather than reacting on the fly.
They should bring back clashing in alot of the games that are still out there they can easily do it like Naruto when you had to press the correct corresponding buttons instead of spin the stick or mashing some buttons, which ultimately damaged these things.

Budokai 3 has the best beamstruggle to me. The shaking screen, the intensity between 2 characters. All that factors make it number 1 to me
if that Dragon Ball game has beam clashes, that's best.
Final bout tho..
That's no cap I like beam struggles now it's just they hit and go away that is trash
*Cries in xenoverse*
Not
And thats why budokai 3 is the goat
I know it'll never happen but if fighterz could bring these back it even as an optional setting I would be in love.
@2MuchRiceWine Because stuff like that is detrimental online and you will lag a shit ton doing it
@@AruAnimations optional setting
@@RackerTheRascalMashup it wouldn't make it any less detrimental online....
@@AruAnimations the devs can just turn it off for online ya know
@@elilikepizza1344 that's an extremely idiotic move
Almost all of the player base is online and cutting off a huge feature for that player base is stupid
Some of those games had beam struggles, you just used beams that didn't clash.
Never use Special beam Cannon to clash, attacks like that one don't normally clash.
@Ultra Instinct 94 And you could in Burst limit too, I need to go through them again and make a list.
Yes, he messed up with burst limit, he has to use the normal Kamehameha and Galick gun, ultimates don’t beam clash in that game, which made me give him a dislike. Like come on man you gotta know your shit before making such a historic DB video.
Yeah special beam cannon usually goes straight through most attacks. Well at least it did in bt3
That was gohan lvl 5
Gogeta losing a beam struggle to a saibamen is CRAZY🤣🤣🤣
5:40 every xenoverse 2 ranked match lmao
1:41 those are the best ones, you know when it happens you gotta react fast and start spinning that analog stick fast
*PS2 Analog Stick broke Flashback*
Yeah, I remember my sister spamming Kid Buu and me being pissed off
I love how Gohan's Level 5 in DBFZ works exactly as it does because of how it interacts with other beam level 3's and such. Spent 3/5 bars but your opponent used a level three to nullify it? Simply hold Super, burn 2 more bars and send a message lol
Loved playing Final Bout, It was ahead of all others in its day.
They should make you rapidly press a button and it will slowly eat up your meter. Depending on how late you counter beam, depends on how much meter it'll take to reach your opponent, that is if they don't decide to use their meter as well. If you both run out of meter, the person closest to the beam eats it.
I KNOW A GAME WHEE U HAD TO RAPPIDLY PRESS X AND IT WAS PIXELS BUT I FORGOT THE NAME

0:44 I love final bout. Some of the music on that game was so cool.
7:38 best beam clash
A few days ago i actually did my dark rose kamehameha against a goku's kamehameha in DB legends and i had no idea there was beam struggle. I was hoping to see it in this video and you never let us down :D
rickroll
I didn't know it had beam struggles till watching this, or I forgot it had, cause I don't remember having one.
5:25 oh yeah saibaman vs ssj4 gogeta, the duel of my dreams.
Gogeta SSJ4's face with the saibamen won the beam struggle had me dying! 😂😂😂😂

亀仙人「悟空がワシに、、地球を守れと言っていたぁぁぁあ~!!⚡」
lack of beam struggles in modern DB is a shame.
On a side note; we need another Fusions game.
Well, in xenoverse 1 and 2 they would be annoying especially in Co-Op
@@Plsrateeight if they made it like the partner ultimates it'd be fine i suppose. Just have an opt-in for a teammate to help you against your beam struggle opponent.
As long as it isn't anything like the Raid Boss mechanic lol
Those older early 90s DBZ game music were really good. And DBZ battles were more clear to watch and better light graphics
Fighterz better
3:54 BRO I NEVER SAW THIS BEFORE😮❤
We're so back guys.
Sparking Zero will officially bring back the Beam Struggle mechanic!
Super Dragon Ball Heroes World Mission also has a Beam Struggle, encountered if both teams have a card with the Kamehameha card action ability
Thank you for the information. Wasn’t aware of it. I‘ll include it in the future. 👍
@@saiyannation No worries! Not much players know about it either, I recently found it out not too long ago.
Glad someone plays World Mission lol, wish it got more support I still play it :)
Ah yes...budokai tenkaichi 3. The game where me and my brother always broke the joystick on the controller!
Glad to see everyone can agree that budokai 3 has the best beam struggles
4:13 why didn’t you show an actual beam struggle? Dunno what happened there but the game does have actual struggle mechanics
I KNOW RIGHT
@Tailsfoxboi1it’s not. the game has an actual beam struggle mechanic where to win you have to mash all 4 buttons as much as possible.
FighterZ not having a beam struggle outside cutscenes feels like a war crime
2:03 snitches fighting about whoever can point fingers better
Not only Did Saibaman win the Beam-Struggle against Ssj4 Gogeta, no He also Did it casualy with just one Hand and no Moral Support.
Ssj2 Gohan eat your Heart out.
Saibaman from Universe 69 is strongest Saibaman. 😆
🤡
Lmao
Was gonna give it a like l, but I can't mess up this count
0:05 when the kamehameha is yellow and the final flash is blue..
😤
That last one was more dramatic and realistic than anything Dragon Ball Super has shown
Raging blast 1 and 2 are so underrated and slept on. Probably tie for my favorites with budokai 3 and tenkaichi 3 if not better.
I'm still doing beam clashes in Dragon Ball shin budokai 2. It's sure is satisfying
5:20ゴジータ4とサイバイマン張り合ってるの草
How did a saibaman managed to intercept a big bang kamehameha
He is the saibamen that defeated yancha
It is the great saibaman
hahahaha thats the games rules
The power of love.
Its crazy to see how far DBZ Budokai from 2002 was ahead of its time in terms of graphics and gameplay.
I’ve beam struggling with my mental health these days, but I appreciate you making this video
I think ultimate Tenkaichi had the best beam struggle of the series because it looked more dramatic
Tenkaichi 3
Bt3 was my favorite game when i was a kid, but nowadays i think dbfz is by far the best db game, since It has the most solid mechanics, and as a fighting game, this should be the priority
Words can not explain how happy I am that you used the Trunks Theme for Super Butoden 2
ゴジータ4VSサイバイマンが一番熱い
超サイヤ人4ゴジータに撃ち合いで勝つサイバイマン凄い
Notice how none of these games show a clothes beam being used. That’s how op that move is.
*Uses clothes beam*
*Gets obliterated by Kamehameha with a suit on*
Budokai 3 is my absolute favorite, just perfect in all aspects.
Never was a big fan of 3D fights like BT3, i like the classic style a lot more
0:10 how do you mess up so badly and flip the colors of kamehameha and final flash lol.
In the manga, the kamehameha was originally yellow as was the Galick gun. Why Final Flash is blue is beyond me
@MimicArtz that may be so but the game came out way after the anime.
@@skipe94 I’m not saying i disagree. I much prefer the kamehameha as blue, I’m just saying it could be in reference to that
@@StoryArtsConcepts fair enough
Surprising how few games actually understood the value of a beam struggle and coded it properly. Almost just as notable, _Budokai 3_ 1:41 held its own as the most dramatic example for the longest time, and did so without any flashy camera angles.
Fascinating! Also I love how at Part 3:36 the timing was absolutely priceless!
While I'm more into Xenoverse 1 and (especially now) Xenoverse 2, the one in X2 was hilarious at that last moment of "Oops!" X'D
Xenoverse1 is literally an Alpha release of Xenoverse2, I've played a crap ton of both
I don't know how anyone could unironically say Xenoverse1 is preferred i'd rather die than downgrade to XV1.
Too bad XenoVerse doesn't have beam struggles, they just poof each other out or the stronger attack just goes through
All of these are played and recorded by you? That is some dedication
Starting from FighterZ, they have essentially nailed the comic accurate aesthetic of beam and aura.
I love how the gogeta’s break time and space via full force kamehameha clash and we dont really question it too much
Did Burst Limit hella dirty; they had actual beam struggles and were easily one of my favorite iterations of them in a dbz game.
The upgrade from 93 to 94 was outrageous
6:38 Tal y cómo en el Anime 😎👌🏼
Not only Saibaman was against "just" Gogeta SS4 but also he won. I'm dead 😂
Boi and no Gorman way boi
Ain't no way ssj4 big bang Kamehameha lost to a tiny beam
0:06 yellow kamehameha and blue final flash. So cursed dude🤐
They should bring back clashing in alot of the games that are still out there they can easily do it like Naruto when you had to press the correct corresponding buttons instead of spin the stick or mashing some buttons, which ultimately damaged these things.
How did you miss Extreme Butoden for the 3DS man, that one is great
While there's no beam struggle mechanic, I do kind of like how in Fighterz, the stronger attack seems to win out.
Some FighterZ have projectile priority
And that’s how they “powerscale”
The original Butoden had beam clashes, no idea why it was omitted.
