      100% - this album is definitely going to dig into so many of the clues and hints in the title track. I'm pretty sure it's going to be about global warming and how cult-like behaviour and 'hive mentality' is ruining society.

      Not gonna lie, maybe it’s just because I’m only into her extremely casually, but considering that she’s one of the very few pop girls I respect as an artist and the fact that even though it’s not my kind of music, I listened to Melodrama one day because I was bored and can say that it’s a very well made release, I thought this song was disappointing, bland as fuck and not worth the wait that everyone had at all, I get that most pop fans aren’t the type of entitled, hard to please motherf-kers that us rock, rap, and metal fans are and you all tend to have that “it’s the music they choose to make, so I’ll support them” mentality rather than the jaded fanboy mentality that we tend to have when our favorite artist releases an inferior product, But y’all should demand more

    i think that’s her signature sound. her sound always feels odd on first listen. in pure heroine, there’s this emptiness and space felt from the synths like it’s lacking a little production but eventually, it just felt right and addicting. in melodrama, there’s this unusual structure of songs. just like how that piano build up of green light came out of nowhere. i just can’t wait what’s gonna happen with solar power :)

    • @raidedlion
      @raidedlion 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      No i feel like she changes her sound on every album for a reason. She has synesthesia and that helps with her creativity. She also travels the world a lot which inspires her music as well.

    • @Churros1616
      @Churros1616 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Pure Herione was an incredible album. It was original but not odd. It’s a gem and already a classic. Melodrama was odd though, also less successful. Let’s see how Solar Power will be. I haven’t listened to the full album yet.

    • @raidedlion
      @raidedlion 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Churros1616 i also feel like everytime she makes an album like melodrama had a distinct and specific vibe to it that you could vividly experience through your ears for example the background effects or the strings and guitars all of the above made you feel like you were experiencing being overwhelmed with sadness and trying to be happy.

      Pure heroine is the best album I’ve ever heard. The production is so original and captivating. so it’s obviously my fav Lorde album by far. Melodrama felt overproduce and followed the electronic pop trend at that time, still in some ways it was unique. This new single has no originality to it, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad.

    Lorde is same age as me, I can't believe how much her music is ''like me''. When I was younger I completely identified myslef in ''Pure Heroine'', and then when first heartbreaks came and first loves, and maybe when I did care to much about being wanted ''Melodrama'' was released and now... she came with ''Solar Power'', the song is just about being free, and the things she wrote about the album (about her) I see myself in it. There are many artist that I love, and tbh Lorde music isn't that often played in my headphones but it is the music that grows with me as she does.

    I’m happy that Lorde is back with a new album, and is making music again after her hiatus. I hope that the album and the songs on it become hits for her, even though many of the songs just don’t do it for me like her older tracks did. For instance, the song Solar Power in particular for me when I listening to it was so-so.

    • @speeeee35
      @speeeee35 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Yeah her lyrics are great as always, but I can’t help but feel like people are simply excited she’s back. I’m a music critic, so I have to listen to it over and over and over and over, and I have never heard a better produced worse song.
      You know what my problem w her is?
      She always has this weird pretentious thing that comes through in all her music, to me.
      Same thing as when she danced without singing at the VMAs and said ppl didn’t like it “because they weren’t used to seeing unbridled joy”. Like no, it was because you aren’t a dancer and we were offended that you thought you were so special that we’d be happy watching you run around. As if we obsess over HER and not just because of her music. I don’t mean that rudely, she’s great, I just mean.......
      I don’t wanna see Leo DiCaprio sing, and I don’t want to see Lorde dance.
      Same with this song... it’s so pretentious in its sound. Like, it’s simply not enjoyable to listen to.
      I don’t know if I’m making sense but obviously I need to talk about the song itself when I write so I have to get this out of my system.
      I just think it says a lot that she chose this song as the first single....
      Pretentiousness pouring off the screen. Acting like a hippie in her $2000 silk dress, you know?

    I actually love it. Lorde and I are close in age so when she released Royals & Pure Heroine, the angst and unhappiness is something I could relate to as a teenager. Now that I'm older, the depressive songs aren't what I gravitate towards anymore (though I do listen to some out of nostalgia). I like seeing her happy and it shows in the music.
    It's like the same with Billie. You can tell her new album will be different from her past 2 projects and she's happier.

    (Oh also speaking of new music, Marina dropped her latest album yesterday!!! its honestly so good and she talks about such important topics. i highly recommend listening to it tbh!!)

    Although I love minimalist production, I also really enjoy creative, experimental production and I really hope that’s not something she lets go of as that’s been something I’ve loved in her past songs. I’m gonna say something I hope doesn’t come off the wrong way. I love a Jack Antonoff production, especially when he plays with interesting production elements. But lately it feels like many of his works have been really really stripped down which is great for emotional aspects of the songs but a little boring if done for the whole album.

    i can't help but notice the fact that the MV reminds me of the movie Midsommar. and for anyone watched the movie, this single feels like the first part of it. where it gets really playful, joyful but underneath lies a more intense story. and i think maybe that's what lorde is doing

    I LOOOVEE IT
    It was Basically the answer to the whole Melodrama esp the songs liability and Perfect Places.
    It also is the sequel/answer to The Perfect Places.
    Singing:
    Forget all of the tears that you've cried
    It's over (Over, over, over)
    It's a new state of mind
    Are you coming, my baby?
    Basically telling us that the Melodrama(era) is over and that she found her Perfect Place, her Happiness.
    And not @ yall forgetting how the GP TRASHED greenlight. A lot of her lead singles are era/theme/sound/visual welcomes to her album.
    She WILL deliver and she IS delievering
    I can't with for another masterpiece🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

    The truly incredible thing about lorde is that she is simply authentic, her songs are not necessarily mainstream, her lyrics are done so perfectly & each album so far is so different from the previous one, some of her songs grow on you, but once they do, you find it weird how an incredible song took a lot of time to grow on you

    The song is genius, as per usual. I wake up singing the hook. It’s fun to sing because it’s faultless in its potential to be harmonious. It’s such a fun song and really differentiates her for OR who is slightly accused of stealing Lordes vibe. I remember the first time I heard ‘déjà vu’ I couldn’t get over the irony because it sounded like a Lorde song: down to every affliction. However, I think Lorde broke away from even her own sound and vibe because she knew about her ops. I love it, I think it is transformative especially coming from NZ ! REPRESENT!!

    The music industry is doing quite well this year! I may not like a lot, but Demi Lovato, Dodie, Twenty One Pilots, and OneRepublic are all doing their part. God I love them and I love what I'm seeing. Looking forward to Rihanna dropping the ninth album and Halsey revealing whatever she's planning (dear OC character: thank you for making me love Halsey).
    Honest, here's a video suggestion for ya: Dev. Devin Tailes, more commonly known as just Dev, is a singer and songwriter known for her collab with The Far East Movement and The Cataracs, Like a G6. She is also known for her moderately-successful solo song In the Dark (with a BOMB ASS TRACK and mv). Since her departure from work with The Cataracs, she's gone really quiet, yet still releases music and even has a daughter now! I'd love if you would talk about Dev, how underrated she is, and where she went off to following Like a G6 and her first album, The Night the Sun Came Up.

    i personally really liked solar power. it definitely has a very different vibe to pure heroine and melodrama, but i don't think that's a bad thing. while i love the melancholy, nostalgia and moodiness of her previous songs, and identify highly with them, i would definitely like to see something more uplifting and happy. the themes of connecting with nature and sexual liberation are also some that i find really interesting, so i'm not dissappointed with the direction this is going, even though i can see why some people may be less into it, cause it's so different to her other work.
