God this instantly takes me back to the early 90s. One of the best SNES sound tracks, IMO. I owned this game and used to play it all the time with a friend. Wish it were on the Nintendo Switch Online SNES with online co op so I could play it with friends again.
I have an early 90's memory of this game. First time seeing this game was through a 1st floor porch window. The kids playing it at the time opened the window and let me watch them play. Cool as hell memory.
The SNES had a superior audio processor V.S. the Genesis, and it could handle more sounds simultaneously while outputting better clarity. It was a chip designed by Sony, so as one could imagine it would be fairly decent. Now, in my opinion it's not really fair to compare the SNES with the Genesis, as the Genesis is from 1989 and the SNES 1991. Back then even a year in terms of technology was like night and day, so the SNES always had the advantage for hardware. Obviously they were both from the 16-bit era; however, SNES takes the cake only because it released with newer hardware two years later than the Genesis. Personally, I love both systems, but the SNES is my favorite.
Oh it's more than fair to make comparisons. Sega had been trashing Nintendo for years with their campaigns such as Blast Processing and "Sega does what Nintend don't" Don't feel bad. Nintendo always played it safe and always came out on top in the end. Instead rushing over to the Optical drive CD-ROM software, which was a big mistake at the time because the third party company's didn't have the tools to properly designed their games on it, they stayed with the already existing software, which was becoming dated, but it was a good idea because they got a lot of third party support and it kept the snes alive and strong without the need of extra peripherals.
Sega could have easily made their console more powerful back then. The Genesis was simply a watered down version of a Sharp X68000 computer. The problem was that Sega didnt want the Genesis to be too expensive for the average customer. As for sound, Sega could have probably used the YM2151 chip for a more full sound, but they got Sharp to produce a cheaper version, the YM2612. The only way Sega got Nintendo was the fact that the SNES used a custom processor based upon a WDC 16 bit processor that wasnt as fast as a better known Motorola 68000. As for the Sharp X68000. It could have blown both consoles out of the water with its specs if it had been used outside of Japan. The problem was that it was too expensive for most people to buy in the first place. Only game developers used it, mostly for making arcade games.
Honestly the genesis version COULD'VE sounded better, the hardware was by definition worse, but its not like saying 1080p is better than 720, which is more or less factual besides cost, this is like saying high def-art is better than pixel art. They're too different to say one's better, honestly if it was done right the genesis version would've been my favorite. The problem was the SNES version was designed by David Wise, and the Genesis version was made by 7 monkeys high on heroin.
He's entitled to his OPINION, ya blithering idiots lol. Get over yourselves. And I happen to also think this Super NES version is superior, but I don't go around trying to demean others just because they feel differently, like a flippin' douche rocket.

Now that Battletoads and Double Dragon both have new titles, its time for a 2nd team-up!
I grew up playing the sega version. Im amazed how much better the snes music is!
The genesis wasn't made to compete with the snes so that's part of the reason.
Same here. But then after a few listens I realised some sounds are different so some melodies hard to hear in some songs...
I disagree. The melodies sound completely muffled in the SNES, which has the percussion and bass way too loud.
@@1ucasvb What's the use of the sound being less muffled if it's shrill and wheezing?
The Genesis version completely destroyed the bassline.
I agree this version sounds heavier in a good way
