Just got my ultra version today - disappointed. It's smaller (webbing is more narrow) than the original Groove belt. I'm guessing it is more in line with the "low profile" version of the original version. While I don't have the low profile ones to compare with, I do have two of the O.G. versions that I generally like quite a bit. The O.G version is 1.5" wide and this new ultra one is 1.25" wide. For me, the Groove belts are meant to be for EDC setups as they really aren't fancy enough to be wearing with a suit (most of the time), so the 1.5" size was where this type of belt makes the most sense. Losing that 1/4" pretty much makes this useless for EDC with a CCW, even if it's a micro or subcompact. Sure, you can do it, but is it a good idea? The thinner profile of the Ultra not only leaves some "wiggle" room on standard DCC clips, but it also leaves room within belt loops that make the belt slide up and down as I move around. I honestly don't own a pair of pants that the OG versions won't work with and I'm a 29" waist and often wear "skinny" and "slim" fit pants. On standard fit jeans and more tactical options (think cargo, or something like 511's), you want that 1.5". If the belt can't even stay in place on my waist with no load on it, how can I rely on it to hold a CCW reliably, let alone be comfortable? The belt buckle feels really cheap compared to the original as well. It's polymer and very thin to boot - my guess is it is going to be scratched to hell in no time since there is no finish on it and the polymer is very thin. The locking bar serves no purpose that I can find - other than to make it harder to adjust than it needs to be. It's probably there just to relieve stress on the buckle itself since the polymer is so thin. The OG belts didn't need the locking bar and I've never have had an issue with the OG version loosening up, even with a CCW and despite it not having a locking bar. I actually am finding it easier to adjust the OG belt easier when I do need to let a little bit in or out to accommodate different pants and/or holsters and that the ultra's locking bar makes it harder to adjust as needed. I can't figure out why the Ultra is advertised as being washable compared to the OG belts not being washable either. The webbing looks and feels like the exact same material (perhaps they are scientifically different materials though). Eyeballing the two bets, the Ultra might be slightly thinner as it seems a tad bit bendier than the OGs too. Without knowing the proprietary secret sauce of the webbing composition, I would simply guess that it's more of a marketing gimmick since the lighter polymer buckle less likely to mar up your washing machine. That, and the magnet on the Ultra is inside the polymer, so it's not going to get knocked out if banged around. The OG ones have exposed magnets and heavier duty metal buckles. I'd like to say again that I do like Groove Life OG belts. I find them comfortable, they work pretty darn well as an EDC option, especially if that includes a smaller sized IWB CCW to compliment your setup. The OG 1.5" width has never been a problem with any of my jeans, EDC pants or even slacks. And with their nicer buckles that have a solid finish and metal, they have a more premium look that can dress up, but are still plenty usable for a wide range of scenarios that include blue collar work, casual attire, casual business attire and can even be pulled off with some formal wear. But... Even though the new Ultra belt is considerably less than the OG belts, I feel like I was suckered into the lower price point, especially with the discount code. It simply is not comparable to the OGs in any way and not worth $40 IMHO - if I had been able to check it out in person first, I would only pull the trigger at $25 for a casual belt that would not have the task of taking on EDC. I wish there was better feedback from real people who aren't just looking to get channel traffic and free gear to talk about prior to purchasing it. I hope my feedback is helpful to others who might be considering this for an EDC built. It's certainly not a bad belt, but I don't really understand the market they're going for here and why it would be in any way shape or form "Ultra" to it's OG counterparts. Perhaps a tad harsh, but the only thing "ultra" about this belt is my disappointment in spending $40 on a belt that isn't going to be able to be part of my EDC rotation, not even with a micro P365.
I just received mine this morning, kinda feeling the same way. I really hope your comment/review is able to reach those who are on the fence about ordering one. The price of the 'Ultra' definitely makes it seem almost too good to be true. Due to a disability, I no longer carry anything on my belt, so I'll see how well this holds up for me. I've had one of the originals for a couple years now, and the thought of replacing it hadn't really crossed my mind until I saw this one for $40.
I’m grateful for this post! I’ll wait until my local gun store advertises them so I can check it out in person. I thought the belt was the same size just a new clip design 🤦🏼♂️
@@CaseyHardman you bet! Personally, I still like the OG belts for EDC with compacts/subcompacts/micros so maybe check them out instead. I primarily use my OGs with a Glock 26 in a Tenicor full size 19/26 Certum3 holster - even more than my other kore essential belts (which are great too, but really stiff and IMHO overkill for smaller CCWs, print more and are less comfortable when sitting in long stints). I actually like the thinner and slightly bendiet and stretchy profile of the OG Groove Life belts for around the waist comfort. Nothing is flopping around or topping over and I'm not remotely worried that anything is going to come off the belt or that the belt buckle is coming apart. I'm just a cheap-o, so always looking for a deal on good equipment that makes carrying easier or more comfortable so the new ultra was really enticing, especially with the early release pricing. In the end, I sent my ultra belt back and they covered the shipping so I didn't lose anything for trying it out. Still love my OG Groove belts as one of my main EDC options and will continue to use and recommend them to others for consideration unless you are going full tactical with a large 1911, extra mag, flashlight, keys, knife, etc that would demand a more duty oriented setup.
I've bought 3 belts from Groove live since they first came out with them and have 5 different rings. While I love the rings, I love the belts even more! Wish I had them the whole time I was in the military. Not sure how they perfected being just rigged enough without being stiff, but they pulled it off. I just bought the slim belt in tan a few months ago since I own darker OG belts. I only see 2 colors for the Groove Belt Ultra but I'm sure more will come. I can wear these belts with pretty much anything. Highly recommend the OG or the new slim. I'm sure this one is great, but since I haven't tried it yet, I'll have to wait before I say it's better then the 3 from GL I currently own.
Thank you so much! It means a lot to us that these belts fit your lifestyle so well, and thank you for your service! Keep your eyes peeled. We may have some new Ultra Belt colors VERY soon.
@@GrooveLife if there's an olive or brown, I'm 100% buying it immediately. The grey, black and buck colors are perfect, so my next buy will be an olive or brown.
Are you talking about the new ultra or the older models? It looks like they fixed it with that locking bar thing. I have the original and I know what you're talking about, but really only have to spend 20 seconds to fix it every couple of weeks.
Warranty is true. Lost a magnet in one of my belts and they sent me a whole new belt. 👍👍👍👍
Love the continued innovation and the fact that you stand behind your products. Keep groovin!

Nice
my pant is size 34 ( fit) and 36 (loose), what belt size I should get?
These belts would be good if they didn’t slip at the buckle and auto adjust looser is there a fix?

This micros adjustment system is what stops me form buying this belt. just make it like a back pack.
