In this video, we present to you, Abhishek Ravishankar and Harikishan P, journeying from Kaanadaa to Darbaari Kaanadaa, through a stream of swarams and krithis.

Kaanadaa: Sukhi Evvaro (Thyagaraja), Shri Naarada (Thyagaraja), Maamava Sadaa Janani (Swati Thirunaal), Baalaambikaayaa Param (Muthuswami Dikshithar) and Alaipaayuthe (Oothukaadu Venkatasubbaiyyar).
Darbaari Kaanadaa: Govardhana Giridhara (Narayana Theertha) and Maatha Kaalika (Maharana Jayawant Singh).

So lovely! The transitions are wonderfully seamless, with clever use of swaraksharams. Kudos to Madrasana for encouraging such creative transports while still staying within the confines of tradition! The Reethigowla in this series was lovely as well. These reminded me of the times I used to comically, unintentionally and unknowingly transgress from one krithi to another much to my teacher’s surprise 😂 (while playing veena, ages ago!) thankfully always within the same ragam… I would be in Veeriboni varnam and end up in Upacharamulanu 😅 to think of it, Bhairavi would be a befitting addition to this conceptual series. The gamakams in it are so unique and dense and would blend so well! Would love to know the story behind this concept and series. Thanks for sharing!
