    Finally! Someone besides me who understands how putting ourselves in a specific state can have a positive affect on our productivity. Great video with valuable information for anyone who might not understand the science behind productivity. Creative Blessings!

      @@MissTrenchcoat Yes, absolutely. I have done some research on brain states (a couple years back) so this is a perfect refresher. And I also learned quite a few new things as well. Very informative 😊

    Your info about being in beta explains a lot about how and why I get feeling the way I do after a long day of good writing.

    Great video with lots of usable and effective information. I've actually used weighted blankets to help calm children whose sensory systems are overstimulated. I should've realized it would work for adults too!

    The awkward moment when you are Greek and the Greek alphabet goes like Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, (Epsilon, Zeta,) Theta and this ranking seems random. But it's very useful video. Thank you Alexis!

    I thought this was very good and very interesting content. During the day and sometimes before bed, I use aromatherapy to calm me. I usually meditate on Scripture and pray for approximately 20 - 30 minutes daily and I have used the eye mask at night when I am trying to sleep. I also use a sound machine next to my bed because for a long time I was having difficulty sleeping. I am starting to see improvement in my sleep habits. I did not realize, while doing all this, how it affects my brain and productivity. So thank you for sharing this information.

    I love your new content. Lately I've been counting my breathing before bed as a way to quiet my mind. I did try guided meditation on TH-cam, it was an 8 hour video that was supposed to wake me up at the end. The battery ran out of the phone and I didn't wake up until 12 hours later so I've been kind of too scared to try it again LOL

    Love your explanation. I need to do a sleep study to understand my sleep cycles. I sleep for 8-9 hours but dream INTENSELY all night, 5-6 separate dreams, and then wake up tired. 😆
    Love what you say about affirmations. I’ve also found they don’t work when people are using them without a strong emotional connection to the words they’re saying. Just posted a video yesterday actually on 3 different ways I use affirmations that make them actually work.
    (FYI, I also did a video on meditation for overthinkers if it’s helpful for anyone. I was trained by a Swami and shared what he taught me, as well as other techniques that have helped me. And I have a video on using aromatherapy to change thoughts and emotions. It’s like we’re made for each other Alexis! 😆😆😆)

    • @MissTrenchcoat
      @MissTrenchcoat  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tara Wagner i also dream intensely, I think so far research hasn’t really been able to explain why some people dream more than others, but there are some frequencies that you can use to induce a dreamless sleep

    • @TaraWagner
      @TaraWagner 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Would that be Delta? Tbh I’d hate to stop dreaming. I just wanna wake up energized and that’s only happened on the rare dreamless nights I’ve had (literally less than 5). 😆

    Loved your science based explanation. I do meditate in the mornings. But from your video it seems meditation can shift us to a lower state. So is it better to meditate in the evening because in the morning we want to shift to higher state of productivity? Not sure if I understood things properly!

    • @MissTrenchcoat
      @MissTrenchcoat  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anitha Ramanna Meditation is good in the mornings to set your mind up for control. You don’t want to get into Beta too soon or else you move into high beta which can be harmful. This is why the concept of having a relaxing morning is good bc it puts you in an alpha state which is also a great state to work in but if you need to have significant focus then you need beta

    Okay, I understand why it's good to meditate before sleep - it helps you calm down and move to the less frequent state. But why are you meditating after waking up? Don't we need to increase frequency after sleep in order to be productive?

    • @MissTrenchcoat
      @MissTrenchcoat  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Lucy Airapetian I don’t go immediately to work when I wake up in the morning, so to ease into the day and train my mind to respond not react it’s great to meditate first thing in the morning as well.

      @@lucyairapetian407 Remember, its up to you when you do the meditation, I just happen to be very into it so I do it AM and PM, but you can choose one or the other based on your schedule to begin with, no harm in that!
