To anyone saying they were bored, you probably have never seen them live. Damn their energy is off the charts. This is a studio and it's a completely different atmosphere.
For the musically uninclined, this is called a technical performance. They stretch some of the parts out. Test out the harmonies. Speed up and slow down. Basically a workout for their muscles. You can see the same thing a lot in kpop in-studio choreography. The dancers will perform everything without emotion. As they’re doing it over and over multiple times during the practice session. Drummer just wanted to go all out on his own volition - why not, for the camera :)
@Nick Douglas They do this to preserve their voices; Lowering the tuning makes them sing lower, therefore preserving their voices for longer as they don't have to sing as high - could lead to straining, tiredness and cause them not to sound as great.

ChanceStearns Not always. I've seen him live and it wasn't shaky at all, it was perfect. Also, I've seen some videos on here was it wasn't shaky. I think it was because he had the cameras in his face.
+ChanceStearns its weird but dereks voice is the only one ive heard where the shakiness actually kinda compliments his style. its not shaky in the sense that its out of tune or sounds bad, but shaky as if hes trying not to break down. this really adds a certain intimacy to their more impactful songs
To anyone asking, i think they look so bored because they have no audience infront of them to entertain, also, touring for months straight is pretty tiring

They look bored cause it’s just a live studio session. When playing live to a crowd, you gotta have energy. Here, it’s almost like a rehearsal.
