Also the combat system was much more "loose" in AA IMO. there where times where I would counter but the game wouldn't respond. AC they seemed to tighten up the controls a lot which meant those fights with large numbers of thugs, 12+, where much more manageable as you had less dropped inputs.
I have no problem with the response but i get where you are coming from. Asylum was the first game and even so the combat is still very good (they made it even better in the other games). Edit: Most of the problems were probably fixed with the updates anyways.
Going back to Asylum after playing hundreds of hours of Knight REALLY makes all the jankiness shine through. Still a phenomenal game of course, but they just made so, so many improvements. The one thing i wish they didnt change as much was combat. In Knight i feel like theres way too much room for error, while Asylum likes to punish a hasty player.
As someone who started with City, continued with Origins (and still loves it more than the rest), finally played Asylum (and 100% completed it on 360; both AA & AA GOTY), and replayed them all in anticipation of Knight (which was massively overhyped and now overrated…I would agree to disagree. Arkham Asylum rode the fine line of being between a “janky Licensed Game” and a full-blown Award-Bait AAA Game. And handily! While Arkham City added JUUUUUUST the right amount of “fixes” (aka New Combat & Predator options + tighter controls) and Origins added a lot of fun stuff + felt like the good kind of rehash (Electrocutioner’s Gloves are the greatest thing to happen to the Arkham Games imo)…Knight was TOOOO FAR in the wrong direction and a lot of the tedium in that game came from how overly fast the fights became, the Batmobile being a glorified Swiss Army Car & Puzzle Solver, and the overcomplicating of something that Origins honestly perfected. I would’ve been very happy with WB Montreal both porting Origins to modern consoles AND doing the planned “Arkham Insurgency” that was scrapped due to greedy execs and their scapegoat of “leaks” 🤷🏽♂️ Instead? We got the end of Rocksteady with Sui.Squad:KtJL…
@@yeez13 You're not wrong, but what I mean is that Knight is incredibly fluid when compared to Asylum. Which obviously there were many improvements due to the nature if reiteration, but it's still worth noting. Not saying either is a better game because they're too different in their own ways to be truly comparable. City is the best as a full package in my opinion, even if Knight has a lot more content. It's probably the most balanced gameplay-wise
Asylum combat isn’t bad but is the least polished amongst the trilogy. For example its rhythm feels wrong - in City and Knight you can connect attack and counter by anticipating enemies’ attack pattern, in Asylum the windows between them are really inconsistent. Even when enemies are around you when you launch an attack, they don’t always approach you right away. The unpredictability has made me lose the combo and restart the challenges map countless times lol Another thing is the gadgets in Asylum are way too powerful in combat, triple batarang can knock 3 people down on the floor which often leaves me no one to connect the combo (I know I shouldn’t use it much but I like it in City and Knight) This is not nitpicking tho, I love Asylum combat challenges but I wish those little things didn’t waste so much of my time
Thanks! Never bothered with these on the ps3 version but thought I'd try them on the ps4 remaster. Took a few tries but got it lined up just like this vid!
thank you, this is a second "guide" vid i watched because i know what i would need to do but the execution is what counts so thanks to you i got a lot closer to the platinum trophy only 2 away and then i can move on to city
Dude, I get like 6 people at the wall and they don’t get knocked out. They’re literally hugging the fucking wall. This game is full of broken glitches ffs
Why do you place gel at 0:24 instead of taking the thug out at the bottom of the stairs? When i do it your way there's always one thug that misses the wall explosion.
Can anyone help? I have the upgrade where it will explode by itself and i cant get the three henchmen I need Edit: Use a sonic batarang and explosive gel
Floor grate takedowns don't work for me. The game doesn't let me do it, even when an enemy is right above me. This game aged weirdly. Turns out you jump out and just do a stealth takedown! Bad medal description 🙄
@PrincipleOfEvil666 Yeah, these are the guys with nothing better to do but hack their way to the top. It's really frustrating as the people who have genuinely good times are forced into the 100s in rankings just because some idiots don't want to play the game skillfully.
Batman Arkham Asylum is better because the storyline was shorter and most of the bosses were easy.... and less frusrating compared to Batman Arkham City. Rocksteady wanted to toughen up the difficulty on the sequel to prey on the weak who don't have no skills which is why they added new game plus but they had help on that from a japanese game designer...

@@thepaperninja3123 nah after playing Arkham Knight fill really really bad... They improve alot
@@thepaperninja3123 Yes, but I dropped my combo way more than Knight.
@@highlightermarca-texto3281 yeah owing to the fact that AA probably being the first Arkham game you would've played
They just wouldn't group the fuck up for the life of me
Hahaha i fell you bro, we are same
Thanks for the vid. couldn't figure out how to take them down from the air vent.
Thank you for this!!! I've been trying at this challenge for ages now. You're my hero 😊
So glad they fixed the grate takedowns in city. I'm going nuts trying to get grate takedowms
They don't exist in asylum lol
@@DrClock-il8ij I'll take your word for it because I don't remember anything from this video or game 🤣😭
the enemies are insanely inconsistent, getting the crate takedown AND the stupid explosive gel pattrolling henchman was ridiculous

Shoutouts to the people trying to 100% this game on xbone before it gets taken off gamepass in February 2020 😂
THANK YOU , LEGEND
Awesome man, I relied too much on the gargoyles, going to sneak around more now, this is a big help.
So I have to take the guy down imediatly after I jump out of the grate?
piersquare2 You were only like 5 years late haha
Connor McCartney hah
So question if you get like one medal and in your previous attempt you got two medals does it ad up or do you need to get all the medals immediately?
immediatly

is this bugged? my explosive gel doesnt take them down, they just get up wtf??
@best360gamer not sure if youve already figured it out but you need to complete story mode to get it.
Hat to try a bit but worked great!
@TheWakakaka just leave a single henchmen and the go to a high place the when he is passing by just jump and you get it

a shorter story and easy bosses don't make a better game, a better story, gameplay, etc (even in a personal belief) does
