I saw him in 2019 and got to talk with him. Blaze is just a lovely person to talk to. He's super appreciative of his fans, whether they've only heard the Maiden albums or his solo work. I'm booked to play at the same festival as him in April, so I hope I run into him again.
And this is how an artist who loves and believes in what he does talk. With passion, with energy. Watched blaze twice. Can't wait to see him again. New album rocks. It's been the breath of fresh air i needed. Long live Blaze and the band.
Blaze knows what it’s about. When the industry and even the fans sometimes don’t get it, Blaze gets it. It’s about the music. The music, the music, the music. Everything else goes on top, everything else is gravy. It’s about the music, it’s about the songs. 🔥
Blaze had enormous courage to step in after Bruce left and I didn't like that they forced him to sing unnaturally high for his voice but when he sang in his range, such a strong voice. Loved his Maiden albums and also some great solo career songs. You're lucky to be able to talk with Blaze and Halford bro! And they for sure felt that you're a fan, not some generic interviewer.
I've seen Blaze live and he was excellent - It's great to see him doing well! We met him unexpectedly backstage after we opened for KK's Priest N' he was very kind - He was also the first ever person to get a copy of our album & asked us to sign it. What a dude!
I love X Factor dearly, it’s one of my favorite Maiden albums. I’m an old school Maiden fan too so I love it all. Personally, X Factor has the best bass and drum production of all the albums. I know this is not a popular opinion but this album just worked for me. Virtual is also great, surely there are minor weak spots but the bar is so high for this band that their worst songs are better than the best songs from other artists. Bottom line, I’m glad Bruce is back but I also loved what Blaze brought to Maiden. Blaze paid his dues and deserves mad respect…
hey that's really awesome, it's actually the other way around for me! i like the x factor but virtual is my favourite album they made in the 90's and i probably like it more than a couple others as well. truly a really good era
Sorry, but going from X Factor to Virtual Xl was like going from Gold to Dog sh*t, but that's not Blaze's fault. Futureal is a good song, but after that...🤮
The whole Virtual XI is weak, but probably because it is a very short album. If they had one or two extra songs it might have sound much better. Most songs are not that memorable but for a normal band it would have been a solid album. Steve wanted to keep it world cup focused and since it was the 11th album to keep only 11 songs. Even the cover is bad. Blaze is not the responsible for that.
What a character, the one and only Blaze Bayley, a great artist and voice of metal, seeing his passion for his art and his creativity makes me see the value of an authentic artist, who wants to carry a message, with what he did in Maiden or in his solo career. Also his humanity is incredible. what a lovely man, Cheers from Costa Rica
A thing i really respect about Blaze is how personal his lyrics can be and how he is not bothered by how alot of Maiden fans did feel about him in the 90s and how he is a perfect example of an artist who is in it for the music. :)
What not to love about Blaze. The passion and the love for the fans are unbelievable! Looking forward to see him live in Gothebnurg in April. I really enjoyed the interview and I hope things turn out good for Ukraine. Hugs from Sweden
It's amazing to listen to him, not only singing. Such a great human being! Take care of your health dude, we need you for many many years! God bless you.
Seen Blaze with Wolfsbane, Maiden and last night in Dublin solo. The man is a dead set Legend, a true Metal Warrior !!!! He is back in Dublin this coming September cant wait!!!!
Blaze is a super lovely and humble person! He improved his voice a lot after his role on Maiden, and his solo albums are Brilliant! I know I may cause arguments, but I prefer Blaze solo, much more than in Iron Maiden. But just an opinion. Above it all, Metal Pilgrim, thank you for this awesome interview with such an amazing musician and person! WE ROCK! Mauro
I saw Blaze Bayley live two years ago. I great singer and sympathic guy. His background Band Absolva is also fantastic. Sympathic band members who make music for the fans. Would be nice to see an interview with Absolva.
Really looking forward to this album. Such a great winter season of metal album releases. Blaze is always such a fun interview. Can't wait for Circle of Stone.
I wanted to go see Blaze in Kraków during his Tenth Dimension tour back in 2020, but that got cancelled because of covid. Then I wanted to see him in Stalowa Wola during the Unstoppable Tour last year and that also got cancelled, because of the heart attack... Can't wait to finally see Blaze and the guys in Brno!! 🤩🤩
I saw him perform in my home town of Stalowa Wola in 2016, on the Infinite Entanglement tour. It was their first time playing there. Great show, great guy, great band. They took time to shake everyone's hand and sign CDs, posters, etc. They were kind enough to drop by again in 2018.
I love how Blaze is so animated! He doesn't hold back, instead just letting his enthusiasm and passion for his music and music in general come right out for everyone to see. I'm a relatively recent fan, and the more I see of him, the more I genuinely like the guy. I think he's the real deal, and I'm so looking forward to this new album. And I will die on the hill that says I prefer Blaze Bayley and Thomas Zwijsen's version of Blood Brothers. It's just that good.
Great to hear Blaze talk of one of the greatest scenes in movie history. Bladerunner is one of the greatest movies of all time. Also inspired the fantastic album "Somewhere in time"
Very good! Seems like a good dude. I have been listening to the Blaze albums lately and there is some good stuff on those albums. I guess I will always love the first 7 IM albums, but the Blaze albums are growing on me.
I saw Maiden with Blaze back in 1996, Fear Factory opened for them and both bands shook the night club that night! When the opening of Sign Of The Cross started everyone went nuts, that song is a chunk of platinum!
I'm loving the new album so far. It's giving me vibes of early 2000's Blaze Bayley. Hope it's better than War Within Me, I liked the first few songs for that one, but it fell short on the latter half.
This is awesome. "Circle of Stone" and "Rage" are both great. Blaze's voice sounds strong. Very happy to see him in better health. You can't help but love this guy and wish him nothing but the best! Nice interview, man!
His a great guy, complimented me when I helped Paul DiAnno off stage at KKs Steelmill last summer then saw him again at another venue I was working 3 months ago when he was performing for Wolfsbane, he signed some stuff for a good mate of mine who turned out to have a mutual friend back in Poland of all places.
Saw Blaze for the first time with Wolfsbane supporting Maiden back in 1990. Since then, I've seen him every couple of years since he went solo after his time in Maiden. Some memorable gigs, and almost always a meet and greet and signing session. It's great that he has his cottage industry to keep his career going without needing the corporate world taking 50%. His dedication is always inspiring ! 😎
Love Blaze, Have All His Albums and Can't Wait To Get Circle Of Stone, I Love Both Albums Blaze Did With Maiden Especially The X Factor, It's Great To See and Hear Him Looking So Healthy.
Really enjoyed that! Love Blaze, Silicon Messiah is still one of my favourite albums! Never knew Blood Brothers was meant for virtual 11, love that song on BNW but really can imagine Blaze nailing it also🤘🤘🤘 up the Ukraine 🇺🇦 From wales 🏴
I remeber when x-factor came out, i wasn't happy becouse of Bruce. But i went to show " warsaw torwar sport hala 24.10.1995" with Blaze and it was amazing amazing amazing . I will never forget it
Blaze is really intense, I was really surprised about that. I saw him back in 2002 in Thessaloniki, opening for Savatage. He was great, as he was in both Maiden albums and his solo work. I don't really connect with him on his message, too much idolizing the past for me (being Greek and all, this is what holds our society back), but still I appreciate him as an artist.
I liked his work with Maiden, but love his solo work. In my opinion, all of his solo albums are very strong. A couple of them are some of my favorite metal albums.
Great interview! (My daughter had me replay the hug the fans section 5 times, busting up laughing, she's 5😂) My Cd shipped earlier this week. Can't wait🤘
I love the guy. He had a very difficult time with Maiden, also due to Steve being completely out of fresh ideas. But his solo stuff is great and he is such a likeable character. Nice interview!
Thanks for this interview. Since 90s Iremeber Man of the Edge video (the first thing by Iron Maiden that I heard), and only now I realized that it wasn't Bruce Dickinson singing there.😂😂
I love blaze.. just rediscovered x factor.. only maiden album I didn't have. ( Had it before but didn't like it ).... Now I love it.. respect blaze .. I see blaze support helloween in 2000... Brilliant...
Just two weeks ago in Barcelona and two years ago in Cartagena.. Two times aswell with Iron Maiden. For me Blaze is a figther, so hard to replace Bruce Dickinson but he has my respect as a person and as a singer.... Up the Irons up Blaze Baley up the Iron Maiden family!!!

I stop listening to iron maiden for awhile around the x factor album. not cause of change of lead singer something just sounded off. The Clansman has to be one of my favorite Blaze Baily songs! Maidens new music specially the book of souls album is spectacular and the writing on the wall! Good to see Blaze did not turn out washed up like Paul D did SMH
I just don't get it, I've been a Maiden fan since the Early 80's, Steve is the reason I became a Bass player, but the two albums Baze is on I just can't stand, can't even make it through a few songs, his voice was not right for Maiden, and to thus day the only two Maiden albums I don't own. Sorry guys. Seems like a good guy though
His voice was not right for Maiden? Yeah it might be true for the earlier "classic Maiden" songs but I think that his voice was perfect for the songs of that two albums. I think that after Dance of Death Maiden have massively went down regards the quality of their music production and I am happy that Blaze is not part of that. X-Factor was produced much better than the last few muddy-mixed Maiden albums by Kevin Shirley. The best thing about Maiden's reunion with Bruce is that it gave an opportunity to Blaze to make two new Wolfsbane albums which are better than anything Maiden did in the last 15 years.
blaze was just a disaster in my music collection life and i don't even want to spare a digital storage for any thing about him, unless one day i suffer from very severe insomnia
Have you ever seen Blaze Bayley live or do you plan to do it this year?
Yes, with Maiden - my first time - Bucharest, Romania 17.10.1995. Great!
4 times solo, once with Wolfsbane. I hope to make it 5 in September.
I saw him in 2019 and got to talk with him. Blaze is just a lovely person to talk to. He's super appreciative of his fans, whether they've only heard the Maiden albums or his solo work. I'm booked to play at the same festival as him in April, so I hope I run into him again.
Got my ticket already for the show in Gothenburg, Sweden later this year!
Saw Blaze with Wolfsbane a few years back supporting Saxon - what a great performance!
Congratulations, Mr Bayley, you just sold me an album.
Never let it be said that this man doesn't feel what he sings.
And this is how an artist who loves and believes in what he does talk. With passion, with energy. Watched blaze twice. Can't wait to see him again. New album rocks. It's been the breath of fresh air i needed. Long live Blaze and the band.

I'm so glad Blaze is feeling better - I hope he continues to heal. His new album is great, and Circle of Stone as a song is a banger.
A genuinely lovely guy, always dedicated to his music... Unstoppable!
This has been my favourite Metal Pilgrim episode. Such a great interview with such an interesting man.
His work in maiden is seriously underrated
It's amazing to listen to him, not only singing. Such a great human being! Take care of your health dude, we need you for many many years! God bless you.

I love Blaze... Wish he'd tour the USA. he's such a great, humble, and grateful guy
I wish I had 1% of his enthusiasm and positivity. This man is a jewel. He doesn’t need maiden and maiden doesn’t need him. I love him
Blaze kicks ass and his band work so hard! Fantastic live show and a real humble guy - can’t wait to wrap my ears around ‘Circle of Stone’ 🤘
Saw Blaze when he was In Wolfsbane. Good guy.
Great to see you back BLAZE love from Scotland to you brother

I blast his 2 last albums in my car and I'm really happy to see that a new one is coming. Love you Blaze‼️
One of the most humble musicians you may ever encounter & his stage performance is so theatrical insane ❤
good interview - Blaze is a great person!
Saw them last night in Dublin. Really great show, great atmosphere. Love his solo stuff and was great to hear those Maiden tracks live.
Blaze seems unstoppable during interviews just as on stage 😂 Gotta love the Man 🤘🏻
Absolute legend! Keep the spirit alive Blaze!

Blaze is excellent live, really approachable.
Amazing interview! Love Blaze, seen him twice live (one with Maiden in 1998, one solo in 2014). Congratulations and thank you MP!
Thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed it!
Really enjoyed that! Love Blaze, Silicon Messiah is still one of my favourite albums!

I saw him live with wolfsbane in York at some point in the early 90s and a few years later with Maiden in Leeds
I saw Blaze with Maiden in the virtual11 tour, he's really underrated, great voice and was perfect for Maiden.
Blaze Bayley well worth seeing the best small gig i've been to, cant wait to get the new album.
Blaze is Great Person ❤❤❤
Hail from Croatia !
Great interview, made just buy a vinyl!!😊
Lots of people in the music business really could learn a lot from Blaze. 😎
Blaze, if you're watching this, we love you man!!! 🤘🏻😎💯❤️🙏🏻
Blaze is a great guy and a fantastic singer.
I saw Blaze perform live twice. He was phenomenal both times.
Thanks for the interview. Hoping to see him live in Montreal soon! 🤘
Blaze is a legend, a real metal hero \m/
I would love to see him perform in Australia one day 🤘🍺🤘
I liked his work with Maiden, but love his solo work. In my opinion, all of his solo albums are very strong. A couple of them are some of my favorite metal albums.

Great gig in Dublin recently
I love the guy. He had a very difficult time with Maiden, also due to Steve being completely out of fresh ideas. But his solo stuff is great and he is such a likeable character. Nice interview!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
I`m really looking forward to the album.

AWESOME interview!!!! 1 more week until Circle Of Stone !

I cannot wait to have the cd in my hands
It is a great album! I truly enjoyed it, hope you will as well!
@@MetalPilgrimI'm sure I Will! Blaze is so great and underrated
Blaze casually speaks louder than most people can sing
I remember, when I first heard Sign Of The Cross live in Rock in Rio, and didn't know that song, so I searched for it,
and when i first listened to it, I hated it.
The song was so different in comparison to the Bruce era songs, that it completly caught me off guard and never touched the X-Factor or Virtual XI for a long time,
until I gave it a second chance, listened to it without any prejudice, and I remember I listened to it on the bus late at night, and then it caught me.
It was so dark, and moody and intimate, that I got it and now The X Factor is one of my favorite albums from Maiden, thanks to Bayley.
Circle Of Stone is a really good album and I enjoy listening to it, when I read something.
I'm not a fan of his Maiden albums, through no fault of his. They'd be subpar even with Bruce.
But his solo catalogue and everything else he has been in is fantastic. Especially his last 6 or so. Absolutely phenomenal. And the man's a class act. Much respect to Blaze and I hope he hits Australia sometime.
Great interview
I really like this guy greetings from Brazil
Awesome, I'll buy the record:)
Any sensible Maiden fan should have massive respect for Blaze and his great attitude to his Maiden years. It would have been so easy for him to be bitter but he's done nothing but been classy in contrast to the sad car crash that is Paul Dianno.
Stare at the son… fucking love the messiah album… virus… not the same without Blaze… praise care dude.. can’t wait for the new stuff
I hope Blaze will return to play in Greece soon 🇬🇷🇬🇧🤟🤟🤟🍻
Blaze is a great bloke, but it's a handful listening to him shouting for 1 hour :D
Mr Blaze please visit Poland
When you spoke about the songs left over from the Virtual XI-session that later on was on Brave New World, I remember I put together a playlist of those songs downtuned a whole step (Nowadays someone could probably make cooler AI-covers though), and paired it with songs Blaze recorded solo that also were written for a third Maiden-album. his iron maiden albums are awesome.
That is one impressive skull! Predators would kill each other to possess that trophy...

Virtual XI > The X-Factor
hes a bit animated lol.
He looks like a Klingon from a Star Trek man hahahahaha
Nothing is real, then again, what's is real? :)
I just don't get it, I've been a Maiden fan since the Early 80's, Steve is the reason I became a Bass player, but the two albums Baze is on I just can't stand, can't even make it through a few songs, his voice was not right for Maiden, and to thus day the only two Maiden albums I don't own.

You are missing a lot by ignoring The X Factor. That's Maiden's darkest and most emotional record, but also Steve at his best on bass.
His voice was not right for Maiden? Yeah it might be true for the earlier "classic Maiden" songs but I think that his voice was perfect for the songs of that two albums.
