The Sukhoi Su-35 (Russian: Сухой Су-35; NATO reporting name: Flanker-E) is the designation for two improved derivatives of the Su-27 air-defence fighter. They are single-seat, twin-engine, supermaneuverable aircraft, designed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau and built by the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aircraft Plant.
    Su-27M/Su-35
Single-seat fighter design with a factory code of T-10M (Modernizerovany, "Upgraded"). The first two prototypes had a new forward fuselage, canards and updated fly-by-wire flight-control systems. Like three of KNAAPO's nine flying pre-production aircraft (T10M-5, T10M-6 and T10M-7), they were converted from Su-27 airframes. The third aircraft (T10M-3) was the first of seven pre-production aircraft to have the taller vertical tails, two-wheel nose undercarriage and in-flight refuel capability. The Su-27M was powered by AL-31FM turbofan engines. Two prototypes, nine pre-production and three production aircraft were constructed by 1995; two static-test aircraft was also constructed (T10M-0 and T10M-4). The aircraft did not enter mass production.

It was originally the first upgrade of the Su-27. Design name T-10M. The basic feature was the long time awaited Bars radar installation, which was the lightened iteration was the RP-31 Zaslon PESA radar from the MiG-31. Actually, the T-10M was not a new way, but the completed version of the original T-10/T-10S concept, because the airforce forced the industry to start to manufacturing that level of capability, what they could, at the early-mid 80's. While the original concept of the Su-27 was way more abitious: full CRT glass cockpit, PESA radar, fully capable FbW and so on. These were simply impossible for the industrial reality at the time of development. So they just shifted them to the later "M" model. Even the appearence of the canards was scheduled, due to the heavier PESA system, so to maintain the static unstable design, the canards would be the solution to bring forward the lifting force. In 1982, by the first canard-equiped, modified Su-27 prototype, the T-10-26 proved the further advantage of the canards at the low speed/high AoA maneuvering, which was also good for the carrier-based design as well. From this point, the T-10M program started to include the supermaneuverability as well. Since 1988, 16 airframe built under this program, 6 prototype were rebuilt from Su-27s, 6 was new airframe, 3 were the only serial production and one was the UB twin seater variant. From the new airframes, the No. 711 was originally a Su-35 (T-10M11), but in 1995, it was heavily modified to the TVC program under the designation Su-37, acting as a "new" type for the further budget support. Later, in 2000, it was built back to the Su-35 standard and crashed in December 2002, due to the extreme workload-caused fatigue on the right stabilizer, which was broke down during a test flight, near Zhukovsky. In 2003, five Su-35 (No 703, 712, and all the serial production red 86, 87 and 88) was painted to the Russian Knights scheme, but never adopted, due to the weight and the not-so-applicable cockpit homologization. All five airframes has slightly different cockpit arrangement. In 2003, the T-10M program was officialy abandoned and they started the new Su-35BM, which is now known as Su-35S.

easy: the Su-27M was produced in a short number (7 prototypes, 5 preproduction models and 3 serial models)
all prototypes and preproduction models have a bort number reaching from 701 to 712.
as for the remaining serial models, originally they were matriculated as 86, 87 and 88, but they were rematriculated as they were assigned to the Russian Knights, never to be used or seen again.

@@dmitry1629 Су-35 - это экспортное коммерческое название для иностранных заказчиков. В официальной документации и для ВВС РФ самолет назывался Су-27М или Т-10М - никак иначе.
