  • Hanukkah is over so it's time to put the Hanukkah away. But it was Rosh Chodesh this last Shabbat so that is fresh on my mind! In this video I spend some time chatting with you about what Rosh Chodesh is, how Rosh Chodesh came to be, why Rosh Chodesh is celebrated, and how Rosh Chodesh is observed. I am also taking you through a day in my life after we all sleep in, and clean up the house, make a picnic lunch, then head to the park to meet up with friends. We round it all out by coming home where I chat about our evening plans. Thank you so much fr being here for the DITL Day in my life video :) I love sharing my days with you!
    Hello and welcome! My name is Chana, I’m married to my best friend, and we have three wonderful children together. We also happen to be Orthodox Jews and we homeschool our kids. This video is a sneak peek into our daily lives :) You can see how this particular Jewish homeschool mom sets up her days, rolls with the punches, and gets it all done. Thanks for watching this day in my life as I prepare for Hanukkah and Shabbat and go the the kosher grocery store!

    My Mother A”H was part of a Rosh Chodesh club. They were probably the most diverse group of women and to the untrained eye would seem not to have anything in common, but, they bonded over their love for this day and tried to do something special each month. I hope you manage to get your group going again. Have a Beautiful Shabbos!

    99% of the time when you get some sort of crab sushi, it's made with imitation crab. There are very specific reasons for this, and the main one is cost. Crab is expensive and a lot of people have allergies to shellfish as well, so imitation crab meat is used instead to be affordable and safe to eat as it is made from several kinds of white fish and it just sort of tastes and looks like crab meat.

    • @ImazABoss
      @ImazABoss 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally true. Always be extra vigilant to be sure it's gluten free though because imitation crab often includes wheat in the recipe... strange but true. My oldest daughter has celiac disease and I was shocked to learn this by reading ingredients when she was little.

    My childhood Hanukkah gifts were seven nights of small things like chocolate gelt, a real dollar, etc. and one or two more substantial but not "big" gifts such as a book, or a small toy. One year my mom knitted a hat and a cardigan for my babydoll. It is the only H. gift I remember from so long ago. No gifts on other holidays. Also, I think it would be appropriate to wear a favorite piece of Jewelry on Rosh Chodesh...You know, to commemorate the wives keeping their gold.

    I couldn't sleep (rather I woke up, rearranged my bedding) and was frustrated and I knew what would calm me down (listening to bible verses - sleep with rain on TH-cam). That didn't work so much and I put your video on and lucky for me I got a new one, although I am still watching the old ones. Your voice is so soothing that it puts me to sleep. I love your channel stuff and especially today's topic.
    I love the old calendar and met some other people over the years that use this calendar and it makes much more sense to me. I love the moon also and stare at it every night when I am walking my dog and I love how it reflects light from the sun but the HOPE with the light was truly insightful.
    I looked up all the verses because I was like NOOOOO WAY did they make the guys take the earrings and sure enough...they did. I found all that so intriguing that I looked up all the verses and am going to celebrate this new holiday as well. I also do not celebrate holidays that are not in the biblical days and people just think I am weird but I don't like the commercial aspects of social acceptance that we must buy things.
    It makes zero sense, so I don't do it. Thank you for making this video. The scriptures I read today were really refreshing and should help me sleep.

    One of the shuls that I go to has a Rosh Chodesh gathering every month from after Simchas Torah until May or June. I think I might start trying to go next year. I might talk to the Rebbetzin about having the gathering available on ZOOM again like they did last year during covid.
    Those bento boxes are a really cute idea for to-go lunches. I think my younger granddaughter and I would enjoy that if we go out to a park. It's an easy enough idea to bring lunch for me since I won't eat the hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken they usually grill.
