So creative- You’re a true artist. I’m left handed too so, your demos are perfect. Sometimes it’s hard to follow someone who is doing a demo right handed- especially crochet. I cut with scissors with my right hand , looks like you do too. 👍
Loving the organic feel of both the cuff and basket! I've got LOTS of fat quarter bundles and this looks doable for my skill level. I'm not very creative so your ideas are so appreciated.
The first time I tried this, I used a smaller sized clothesline chord, without the wrapped fabric, intending to sew a bag. The shaping got away from me so I ended up creating an oblong basket. I love it and have received many compliments. I would like to try again using this wrapped fabric method. Thanks, Julia❤
I have used clothesline cord in the past. It takes some experimenting to get the shape you want. Someone suggested adding wire around the top to keep the shape. The wire could be covered with fiber or fabric strips. Another mentioned dying the clothesline cord-so many possibilities!
I made a very useful plain clothes line cord basket once with a lid and colored threads. So proud of myself! The handle is a beautiful bulky art button I had. I hope to try this twisted fabric cord method to use up my random scraps. Love the idea of shoving in little clumps of color! Thx!
Love this project! I made these last year or so… about 8 of the cuffs and one basket I use beside my sewing machine! Gave most of the cuffs to friends, they love them! Thank you Julia
Love this, Julia. The basket is gorgeous and beautifully organic/funky. Don’t think I can manage the twisted fabric strip rope, but I’m going to try color dying cotton clothesline rope and then playing with different thread colors and fiber inclusions. Thanks for the huge inspiration. 👏👏👏👏🥰
Julia, i like the way you twisted the fabric strips together, I used just a single strip on mine = I have a video . One thing if you get a wonky sides to your basket, just add a thin metal strip to sop edge that is covered with small beads, then you can shape the top edge of the basket in different ways. I have a few videos on it but here is the short one with beading. th-cam.com/video/4ECIEWy0zWc/w-d-xo.html

I hope you give it a try. The cord takes a while to create but can be done watching TV etc. The cuff or bowl are quick to make. Happy creating :)
@@stitchesbyjulia thank you

Hi Pam, Thank you so much for your comment. I just watched your video. I love this idea and will try it on my "wonky" basket. lol
