    I am sure some diehard fan is going to explode due to my mistake of saying "he" one time in the video. Don't.
    Summary for the game its good.

    I hope it sells well this time around. Hideki Kamiya has repeatedly expressed interest in making a full-blown sequel, so if this makes enough money, maybe Capcom will let him.

      I would buy that day one if they had the same creative team working it. It does kind of set up a sequel that would be very different (given the ending which I won’t spoil here).

      This game is such a beautiful master piece but sorry man it will just never sell . I hope capcom just releases a sequel and markets it enough for some good profit , but as far as okami hd goes , unfortunately it won't sell...sooo underrated

    Am I the only one here not bothered in the slightest by 30fps? It's not a multiplayer competition requiring the fastest reactions possible. 60fps is nice, but completely unnecessary to making a fantastic game. Seriously, just play this, it's one of the best games you'll ever play.

    • @DeeeFoo
      @DeeeFoo 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Nah, you're not. While 60fps is nice to have and definitely preferred, 30fps isn't a deal-breaker, especially for a single-player story-driven game. I just beat the game for the first time, and I wonder why I did not play it sooner! Especially considering I was already a fan of the Zelda franchise

    • @GrubKiller436

    Okami was the first game I played through as a kid and I could not and would not drop it. I was 11 years old when it came out for PS2 and to see the beautiful graphics it has today, I couldn't help but buy it for the PS4 AND for the PC on Steam. The story you get from this game never ceases to awe and make me laugh, and I hope it's as enjoyable to the new players that became aware to this game with it's new release and better graphics, as it was for me~

    I love this game. I really love this game. To this day, the final boss battle still move me to tears and the ending theme is one of my favorite songs of all time. I really, really love this game. Definitely on the list for this Winter Sale (aka, the only times I still buy video games) along with Touhou 16.

    • @TheShadowflare1
      @TheShadowflare1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes. the song for the cutscene for the final boss still makes me teary eyed. My first play through the music timed up absolutely perfectly to the big moment that gave me chills... how many games out there can have that much of an effect and still do that every time it happens?

    ive been playing this game yearly since it was released. i have it on the ps2, wii, ps3, and im most likely going to buy it for my ps4.
    i wish i could experience the first few play throughs all over again. its on of the most beautiful games and i love how the controls work. if you have trouble drawing, try it on the wii. the wii controls still feel very natural and the drawing mechanism is a lot easier to handle.

    This review is 100% spot on, and an excellent example of why you're my preferred reviewer. I just got the platinum on the PS3 version of Okami about a month ago, and I think it does run a bit long. Overall: wonderful game. I can see myself picking it up on PS4 in the future.

    One thing I have to say is if you can get your hands on the wii version and pl;ay it on the wii.... you will find that this game fits so well for a Wii. This game in hands down one of the best games to have been made. the story, music and art are so intertwined that i have called this game a artwork all of its own. its replayable in a way that no other game is and really just has a charm that no other game out there has. good review and i hope this encourages people to buy the game and experiance just how amazing this game truely is.

    This game is giving me life; it’s hauntingly beautiful, the characters are great, the score is impeccable and next to that the story line is truly amazing! After finishing this game, I played it again and really took my time to fulfill the nice side quests and explored the breathtaking world. I just strolled for an hour in Sasa Sparrow In and stayed at the onsen (hot water spring spa) with a smile on my face, due to the cute and funny sparrow employees over there. That’s how great Okami is

  • @michaelschwartz8730
    @michaelschwartz8730 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    A personal favorite and a true classic, Okami should come with one major warning: the first third of the game is slow, talky and hand-holdy AF. I gave up more than once on my first playthrough back in 2007 because I just couldn't take another unskippable cutscene. Don't! At one point the game just suddenly opens up, starts trusting you, and becomes the best Zelda never made.

  • @azurfen1613
    @azurfen1613 7 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    This is 30fps? I never noticed playing the PS3 version. I guess the artstyle helps covering it up.

    • @akemikitamura5551
      @akemikitamura5551 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Azurfen The art style really helps disguise the frame rate, which was really smart on the developer’s part. I still play this on the Wii and it is still more stunning than many titles today because it is so unique.

    It’s been a while since I’ve played the PS2 original, but I seem to remember there’s a way to speed up the brush while drawing.
    I want to say it’s holding Circle, but I can’t remember. Not sure if it’s in a tutorial or if it was removed for some reason (can’t imagine why) for the remakes, either.
    Really, though, the brush speed up makes it much easier to play. I guess I should look it up again…

  • @MombieApocalypse

    I originally played Okami on the Wii, which made me so sad because everything about the game was so awesome that I wanted to play it but using the motion controller was utter torture. It was one of those games that I'd play, get disgusted and walk away, then a year later have warm fuzzy feelings about it and try it again only to quit in disgust, again. The moment I saw it was re-released on Steam I jumped on it. SUCH an improvement! I am loving the game so much and I think it's aged really well. I also got through the Konohama Shuffle the first time and that was good for my blood pressure.

    I remember hearing about some porting weirdness during the development of the wii version because Clover made quite a few "WHO DOES THAT!?" decisions for this game like having a stupidly high native resolution for a ps2 game or skipping textures entirely and putting all those designs on the model itself. I wouldn't be surprised if forcing 60fps on higher end platforms would end up with the entire game running on fast forward.

    This game is charming and witty, yet still serious and heart wrenching when it needs to be. The art direction and soundtrack are beautiful. For a fairly linear game, I found the story to be incredibly entrancing and interesting with a good number of turns (you know which turn I'm talking about specifically-- she busty ;)). Long story short, this game is a must play. It is excellent. One of the best games I've ever played. It's also one of the only games I can come back and sincerely enjoy after playing it through like 12 times.

      I play a little of the sequel was good but inferior compareto this one, I don't know I prefer the gameplay on this one, here I think is perfect there are some sidequest and thing of the sort that I don't like, (mainly the digging game) but for the most part I did have a blast.

    I highly recommend this game, it's still a beautiful and engaging game 11 years after it's original release and well worth the money.
    It's great for those of us who don't have a Nintendo system and are yearning to play a Zelda like game. A most definite buy and one of the best games that hardly anyone has played.

      Shaunak Deshpande you can ease yourself with fast forwarding the text, if there's no option available. This is on the ps3 version, atleast:
      square -> fast forward without skipping the dialogue.
      triangle -> fast forward and continues to the next dialogue.
      you don't need to mash that confirm button.

  • @kimbaptempura4073
    @kimbaptempura4073 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I loved the game on PS2 an PS3 - my one, and only gripe, and it's kind of a big one is the unskippable, LONG AS FUCKING BALLS dialogues. They drag on forever, and in this game you can't even speed them up. It's painful and does detract, however slightly from an otherwise outstanding experience. This game was a dud, an utter inexplicable failure when it came out even though the reviews across the board were stellar and to see it getting love two console generations later, make me smile. If you've never played it, pick it up, it's so worth it. Looks gorgeous, stunning, and the game play is fun. Also, it's a long game. I beat it, then realized that was just the first adventure, there's a whole second adventure. If you're on the fence this is a must buy for anyone who loves, or even likes video games.

    Bought this for Xbox One X and it looks incredible in 4K. Got it for $17 with Gamer’s Club Unlocked From Best Buy; that’s a flat out steal.
    Don’t pass up this game! It still holds up even today. It’s a classic as far as I’m concerned. It has both quality and content, and that’s rare these days.

  • @headphonic8

    Everyone talks about how good it was on PS2....but it was even better on the Wii. The paintbrush mechanic is absolutely perfect with it. I'm honestly kind of disappointed there's no way for me to play Okami HD with similar motion controls because that was the best and most intuitive way to play it.

    • @RiverOfBlacklights
      @RiverOfBlacklights 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have a PS3, you can get the HD version for it and that version features PS Move Controller support, similar to the Wii's motion controls. That HD version looks just as good as this one and plays just as smooth, plus it's a bit cheaper...

    Edit "and an incredible sense of timing for its unlocks".
    Yes! I remember being floored after beating the first major boss and realizing the game was far from over. And I had played a bunch of games before so so it wasn't newbie awe.
    It's weird now that I think about it I play games longer than it regularly but I don't get that feeling. When did games forget how to pace themselves?
