Think about how Cartoon Network took up potentially valuable ad space for specials like this, all of it done just to be silly while also introducing kids to politics and the importance of voting. It really speaks to what a different company the network was at the time.
You still see elements of that like when the Dove Self-Esteem Project partnered with Steven Universe to make segments talking about acceptance, body confidence, and kindness, but as we increasingly move more towards streaming, you really get the feeling that creative segments like this are becoming relics of a bygone era.
The Steven Universe ads weren't fun or entertaining, but pandering and gay.
@@MODDEDbyBACTERlA considering the topics they were covering were body image and inclusion, *yeah* of course at least some of the audience they were reaching out to were probably gonna be gay people. No f*cking duh… like are you a moron?
The Ed/Grim dynamic is scarily similar to the actual Bush/Cheney dynamic of 2004
Yeah, but even that was tame compared to the tyrants who reigned from 2017 to 2021.
Tbh Bush is kinda nice guy and great guy to hang around with. He's just dumb, a wrong person for the wrong job kind of guy.
Cheney on the other hand, ugh. Just straight up Darth Vader. Maybe even worse than him.
@@AustinSPTD1996 tyrant is a bit strong. Tyrants at least impact their nations and unalive their enemies. Trump just cried on twitter and inspired off-brand nazis.
Yeah, but even that was tame compared to the tyrants who reigned from 2021 to 2025.
Yeah, but even that was tame compared to the tyrants who reigned from 2025-2029.
I remember these! I think I voted for Ed and Grim. Good times. I wish Cartoon Network still did stuff like this.
Especially the Grim running mate song.
Well Ed won!
Time traveler moment at 4:39, where the kid in makeup says "I like skeletons" followed by the reporter saying "ooookay" - - a perfect homage to the "I Like Turtles" kid - - a full 3 years before that video happens.
2004 seems so far away now.
20 years and counting 😢.
So who’re you voting for? Numbuh 1 has my vote, for sure. At least he’s competent.
Sure but he hates puppies and is constantly bossing people around
HE'LL GIVE KIDS RIGHTS!
He hates puppies though... plus I heard he smells!
Um I voted Ed cuz…uhhhh……chickens hahaha
I voted for Ed.
In the 2000 election of Cartoon Network. Red Guy lost to Scooby Doo and has been trying to overturn the election ever since.
Scooby Doo may have won in 2000, but it's believed that the critical panning of his 2002 theatrical film forced him to resign
NUMBUH ONE AND EDUARDO FOR 2021
WHO'S WITH ME
I disagree with you
Plank’s got my vote for 2021
Damn, Cartoon Network was preparing us for modern politics pretty effectively.
I love how we’re never shown Plank’s vp
Johnny 2+4
If only Cartoon Network was a political party. I'd vote down-ballot in every race.
which cartoon character would you want to see from the CN universe run for president?
@@Patrious_WoW CN strictly? Weasel from I Am Weasel. Red Guy from Cow & Chicken could even be his opponent.
Now if we were to extend the scope to the totality of CN programming irrespective of origin, then most likely Bugs Bunny.
@@stoogefest16 basically any cartoon character that was on CN in its whole history
I like Ed and Grim.
Matt Hills and Greg Eagles.
Funny how technically both sides had a strong member with a unibrow whose name was “Ed” for short(Ed and Eduardo)
I'm Glad ED and Grim WON
Lol great upload. Remember these so well.
Ed, Grim and (Immortan) Joe have my vote!
2:01 is something that would totally sound like it would be in a real attack ad nowadays!
💀PFFT- I HATE HOW THE WHOLE ELECTION POKED FUN AT NUMBUH 1 PLS I CAN'T-- 😭👋🏻
So, when I was a kid, burnt Plank was super disturbing for some reason.
Absolutely it was. I thought that was a conspiracy in itself.
I’m not gonna lie this made me itch cause plank’s back was gross
@@outerspacefanAgreed! That moving bit of wood is forever in the darkest corners of my memories. If I never have to be reminded of it, it'll be too soon.
I've never seen these, maybe because I didn't have American CN. But these are amazing lol
These are now almost 20 years old, damn
Back when these were out I voted for Ed because Ed Edd N Eddy was my favorite cartoon at the time. Nowadays with my current outlook on things I'd probably Numbuh 1.(Although I still love Ed Edd N Eddy)
Me too!
Ed had my vote. 😊
Funny thing is the voice actor for Numbuh 1 voices several canines such as Jack from Beastars and Rusty from the Zoophobia short. I guess this was before Numbuh 1 turned into a furry.
Hyenas aren't dogs just to fyi you
@@zeal9442 The more you know
@@sanekibeko I don't blame you for thinking they're dogs because evolution was clearly high as a kite when coming up with hyenas.
I've been born in march 1999, but started watching that show only in 2007 till 2013, witch various broadcasting time. 2013 was the last year it was broadcasted here, only one or two episodes after 1pm.

Ed: 😆 PUPPIES!!!! Hug the puppy! hug the puppy! hug the puppy!
Eddy: At least you ain’t allergic to them.
Edd: It’s a good thing Eddy. Canines are sociable and therapeutic as pets.
They prob would say that lmao
Good Lord imagine ed fucking running can city with double dd despartly trying to make sure he doesn't burn everything down
This is one of many reasons why we need a full CN City cartoon
Go, Ed and Grim, sure one of them is death, but someone's got to do the job, right?
Back when political ads were comical and not dire. Anyway, looking back, I realize just how similar Ed and Grim were to the dynamic of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney in the 2000 and 2004 elections. :o Though I do not align with that political ideology (I'm non-partisan but look more towards what one would label as "left-wing" values), I did root for Ed & Grim in these harmless bumpers as Ed is my favorite "Ed, Edd n Eddy" character and Grim is also a pretty entertaining figure imo.
I would have loved to see a debate between Numbuh 1 and Numbuh 4
I vote Number one
Bring these back 😂
Hi, I am looking into finding a lost series of shorts from around 2006-2008 of Ed, Edd and Eddy except Eddy is replaced by Eduardo from foster home. The alleged name of these shorts was Ed Edd y Eduardo. I was wondering if you had any recorded material related to Ed Edd and Eddy or foster home from that time. Thanks!
I remember the Plank promos during that period.
I didn’t see it in this one but I swear I remember a smear ad against Numbuh 1 hating puppies where they found footage of him saying “I hate puppies they think they’re sooo cute!” Was hoping to find that one specifically.
Bernard (The Rescuers) as Ed
Peter Sherpard (Jumanji) as Johnny
Squawk (Tom and Jerry: the Movie) as Plank
Lumiere (Beauty and the Beast) as Grim
Taran (The Black Cauldron) as Nigel/Numbuh 1
Shrek as Eduardo
Do you have the 2000 election ads?
I like how Plank parodies Iron Eyes Cody.
Did we ever find out who won?
Ed
Plank doesn’t approve of one of his ads here though. 3:47
My vote was for Plank.
The candidates:
Plank
Ed
Grim
Numbuh 1
Eduardo
Eduardo and Grim were just campaign managers
Who won the election again? It’s been many years and hardly remembered this
Ed won
Ed
Apparently
Some of these were animated by Soup2Nuts
whar is Soup2Nuts?
Baby’s first politics.
I am voting for Numbuh 1. He's a leader!
I remember being torn between Ed and Number 1. Looking back at it, Number 1 would’ve actually made a great president.
I totally remember this the during election with George Bush and John Kerry
This was definitely made for adults.
Wow!
3:00
The implications of this did not age well lol
2:30
“…Why?”
1:24 can someone find the first half of this song?
1:48 不可能なこと、 1:55 真剣に、1:56 ナンバーワンの子犬だよ、真剣に。
CN 2004 - Parodies political messaging
CN 2021 - Pushes political messaging
I miss old CN...
Oh, you just hate it because you think equality is bad
@@freakfoxvevo7915 No, I hate large corporations forcing parents into talking about adult topics with their kids.
Children's TV should be a place for kids to get entertainment, not their social activism.
@@sizzurpmp3 so you don't want children to be informed?
@@freakfoxvevo7915 it's not up to children's television to "inform" kids about politics. Kids should just be able to be kids, not a vessel for activism. It's a grownup subject that should be taught thoroughly during highschool when they become young adults.
@@sizzurpmp3 I have younger relatives who are in same-sex relationships and they're just in high-school
It's really not that big of a deal
I am voting for Ed!
1:25
Wait but who actually won tho 😳
Ed won the election
No, Scooby-Do- oh wait that's last Election.
Ed
Ed won
Ed and Grim
I voted for Ed
I like ed
look I normally don't talk about politics with anybody because politics are divisive cus there's only two sides and I try to be equal but I feel its necessary to tell people that I support Ed over plank cus plank is literally a peace of wood and we cannot have a literal piece of wood running the country if you don't support Ed you are literally a beaver.
