you can tell how uneasy he was after receiving the Commonwealths highest military decoration. Clearly a selfless, amazing person and soldier. Cheers from Canada

It's fantastic to see the head of the army grab him for a hug , even he knows how special a moment it is .

No, that's too much. It's a the most formal award you can get after a knighthood ( most of then don't deserve them). You don't see the monarch hugging folk.

@@uncleshagnasty so what if the monarch doesn't hug anyone. This is the guys boss and a very proud one at that

@@uncleshagnasty On September 11, 2024, Ayesha Leti-I'iga, a winger for the Black Ferns, asked King Charles for a hug during a reception at Buckingham Palace. He happily agreed, saying "Why not?". The players then surrounded him for a group hug, and the king later joked that it felt like being "flattened by a scrum". The video of the encounter went viral on TikTok and was widely praised by fans.

Definition of 'humble'. I watched a few interviews with this lad and he's always the same saying it's great for the regiment but that he feels awkward being singled out. What a great example for everyone

For those who noticed at 2:42 the General (leaves on collar patch) Salutes him first! for the rest of his career (though not mandatory) all British Armed Forces (ALL branches) high ranking officers will Salute first to Lcpl Leakey and all VC recipients as a sign of utter respect! As is tradition all Enlisted and lower rank officers salute all higher ranking officers first... from the day Leakey received the VC he will be saluted first!

Modest. Read the citation. This guy has played down one of the most illustrious VC’s bestowed. He deserves the Congressional Medal of Honour too after saving that young American officers life. In the tradition best keeping with our Paras, Utrinque Paratus, .... ready for anything, this guys quick wits, speed, strength and skill literally WON the day, steeled his companions and took the fight to the enemy in an almost impossible encounter. He took the initiative way beyond his rank and showed true bravery in the presence and face of the enemy. May the world bless you Joshua. .... FOR VALOUR.
