Casey, you are an artist! Love your calm way to explain things... Sometimes you speed up into the "PRO" level but then you realize it and you come back to the "slower" speed...
I'm going to guess it's a tiny solar eclipse, just adding a tiny background node with a couple of circular masks with soft edge would probably be enough to replicate it.
I was fascinated. With my knowledge of the workspace, I was tracking (pun intended ;) but I was amazed at everything you were doing off the top of your head. You took us on a journey! Not what I was expecting with a tutorial!
Awesome tutorial. I made a few different creative choices when following along, but I'm super happy with how it turned out. You're the best! One additional thing I did was add a glow over the whole image on the color page and I feel like it really brought the letters to life, especially in how it interacted with the blurred particle mask.
I really appreciate your tuts man specially the advanced ones bc now i learned the basics so i want to push forward for more advanced stuff and learn how to figure out how things are made and be able to improve my skill, thank you so much casey.
Hey Casey, Spent the last couple of days trying out this tutorial, followed it really well and turned out really nice. Would love to see more of this type of content as could see myself getting hooked on Fusion (have to still master colour first) It was great to follow but doing my own version i found i wanted to change a few things, maybe a follow up to this ep would be "what if the client wanted..." say the title longer or faded in and out or starburst to explode. I'm sure in the real world you show something to the client and they say "hey lets do this..." learning how to change and adapt your vision would be good...thank you again
Thank you so much, Casey! I keep these techniques in mint for other titles too. Re the particles above U. First thing came to mind is Spice but also thought Villeneuve is very much about scaling things (the emperor's ship in D1) and perhaps this is a technique to underline the big scope, the vastness of Dune if you have a little moving detail here. In that regard Dune is very interesting because scaling seems often done wrong in modern sci-fi shows. The landing of Nostromo in Alien I, the discovery in 2001 and the Star destroyer in Star Wars I are to me rarely done better except in Villeneuve's movies.
I like how you can look at the original and know what you need to make a vary similar version Casey It was so cool to watch how you put it all together. However I was a little disappointed at the lack of toast, puppets or Weiner dogs. 😉
Only thing I'd change is probably the lens flares. I would opt to create instance for the second one and deinstance the properties that need to be different. Just to keep it easier to adjust later on. And there's a tiny solar eclipse in the flare that was missed. But in all, a reaaaaally good tutorial that goes through the needed steps in recreating what people tend to say Fusion is not great at. :)
@@CaseyFaris You need to be really good to be able to replicate 100% art made by other people... It just deserves congratulations!!! I would like to know if it is possible to do this in the Free version or just in the Studio version of Davinci?
YES! GOOOOOD! GOOOOOOD! I did a thing with particles a while a go and used an image as the particle shape. Learning here and in another video of yours about just using a Background as color and then masking or whatever you need to do really unlocked how I think about some of the nodes. There are so many possibilities and thanks Casey for sharing your knowledge with us.
Casey ur a GOAT in Fusion haha, this is a pretty cool edit and show how perceptive and accurate you are when u see things. I learn a lot from your videos. Greetings from Brazil!
When you try to recreate things like this or invent something by yourself is really good to get to know the software. You get to google and learn so many things along the way ...

That’s an awesome tutorial. There was a James Bond movie many years ago that boasted a one million dollar cost to do the opening title. Might have been 80's.I can’t remember or find which movie it was. Wondering if it’s possible at home these days.
Spot on Casey🔥 so glad you covered this. Out of curiosity, what program do you think they actually used to make theirs? Seems like it could have been done with Davinci
Along the same lines of this, I’m sitting here watching the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics and it would be neat to see how some of the logo graphics are done in the bottom left corner of the screen. That might make a good tutorial.
Can you do The Last Airbender paintbrush intros? I've been racking my brain trying to make a brush stroke. Thank you for your content. They have helped me in so many ways.
Lens flare node is not included in the free DaVinci Resolve, so I can only follow along up to around 8mins. Great tutorial nonetheless Casey, keep them coming please!
@@CaseyFaris Ah MUCH LOVE TO YOU TOO. I've been eating up all your guides so far, so absolutely happy to see you're still making awesome video content!
Hey Casey, Loved this, thanks for the video. I do have a question. How do you track particles to a point? So, for instance, the particles flowing up on the letter U in this tutorial: say the footage (or title) moved around and you wanted to stick the particles to the letter U, how would you do that?
For years I've said that FUSION is evil, well...Please STOP! You are making me get interested in FUSION with your sneaky light hearted tutorials. Its hard enough tinkering with colour grades and doing sound design, as it is. After watching your channel for five years, I'm warming to FUSION as well.😇
“Hello Casey, I just followed your Dune part 2 tutorial using Resolve 19 but when I finished the tutorial, I can’t go back to Resolve. Can you help me because I no longer have access to my project? Thank you for your help. Christophe”
Hi Casey, I just have question about those viewing dots in fusion page. How you got three of them as i always have only two dots (right and left) Hope you know what I'm asking for
I have a third because I have an external monitor hooked up through a special card. So you can send stuff to that monitor like a 3rd viewer. Pretty cool!
Hey Casey...all througout the video you talk about "elements" better here and "elements" better there but what are those "elements" you are talking about? Im confused

Wow! You’re like the Bob Ross of DR. I can’t wait to give this a try.
This is one of the best videos you've done. I love this real world recreation stuff!
Loved this! Taking existing compositions and figuring out how they were created is the best way to learn. I geeked out during the whole video 🤓
Sweet! Clipping the black and white with a color node to clean things up after the lens flares...great tip! Thx for another awesome video
That’s what I’m saying! Pro way of thinking right there I would have tried masking it😂
It's spice Casey, from the surface spice harvesters!
You should do more of this format…. Awesome practical tutorial
Fantastic work, the only thing that is triggering me is that little black thing in the flare that you didn't recreate :D
I'm going to guess it's a tiny solar eclipse, just adding a tiny background node with a couple of circular masks with soft edge would probably be enough to replicate it.
Really nice! Recreating motion graphics that have been done for the industry is definitely the best way to learn. Thank you Casey

LOVE this Casey! Love watching you breakdown this title. More of these please!

so good...im going to do my own version as you made it look soooo easy, but i know thats years of experience..thank you

new to fusion - learned a lot here ! thanks
fast noise is love, fast noise is life
This is crazy. You’re so good. Such a deep knowledge of fusion.
Casey: praising the motion graphics he secretly produced at his side-hustle.
I feel like I got a semester of particles class!
Superb instructional lesson! Thanks!

Amazing video, learned a LOT, thanks for that

Nice! Would be cool to get a short reaction by the original creator along with the backstory of their creative process.
I enjoyed this content greatly, Casey!
Awesome tutorial! Thank you!
I love these videos! I play it on my second screen and try to tag along to create the same thing. Such a great way to learn Davinci!
Now you see, that's what I'm talking about, thanks Dr fusion, you're great. Thanks Casey, this is a good one!!!
Totally forgot DUNE part II was out lol
Happy midweek Casey and thanks as always for these great videos 🔥🚀

Great job 👍
Spot on Casey🔥 so glad you covered this. Out of curiosity, what program do you think they actually used to make theirs? Seems like it could have been done with Davinci
You could literally make a dedicated video on any topic you cover in a 10-second interval in this video.
Along the same lines of this, I’m sitting here watching the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics and it would be neat to see how some of the logo graphics are done in the bottom left corner of the screen. That might make a good tutorial.

Dune 3 would be released before I'd figure this out on my own
brillant . Thank you 😊

Yup. Realized that later. You could use a stock image of a flare tho.
Can you recreate the Xbox intro in the next one? It would be the coolest tutorial ever (it's in most Xbox game trailers)
Love love love this.

awesome !!!

Amazing work!
Thanks bro! Amazing!
Wow, amazing
Wow! Nice 😍😍
This a good idea!
Dope !
Sorry but at 8:06 how to add lens flare in davinci . In my davinci dont have this lens flare . Can you guide how to add it?😢
“Hello Casey, I just followed your Dune part 2 tutorial using Resolve 19 but when I finished the tutorial, I can’t go back to Resolve. Can you help me because I no longer have access to my project? Thank you for your help. Christophe”
Is there a part one to this I should be starting? Getting confused.
I have a fusion crash course that may be helpful!
Hi Casey,
I just have question about those viewing dots in fusion page.

Hope you know what I'm asking for
I have a third because I have an external monitor hooked up through a special card. So you can send stuff to that monitor like a 3rd viewer. Pretty cool!
Where do I find that lens flare plugin? Is it part of the Resolve Studio, or can I get it for the free version?
It's in studio. I kinda forgot about that. Sorry.
Hey Casey...all througout the video you talk about "elements" better here and "elements" better there but what are those "elements" you are talking about? Im confused
An element would be like a piece of stock footage or a texture or an image. Just a name for a piece of media.
Thank you ❤
Your videos always help a lot. But I hope you are taking care of yourself. You look a little tired sensei.
Haha yeah I have eye allergies sometimes and makes me look a lil ragged haha.
honestly, I'm having a hard time following along because of all the rapid cuts, it's not even clear how you get to the final flare at 8:54
I can't find the lens flare option in my fusion tab. Do i need to use paid version to use it?
Yeah that's a paid effect after all. Sorry. Id Google a lens flare photo and use that.
One day this guy is gonna make avengers endgame using fusion
Is Lens Flare only in the paid version?
Yup. Kinda forgot about that. You can use a pic of a lens flare tho. Just Google anamorphic lens flare and you'll find something that works.
❤❤❤❤❤
