She has hot Sicilian blood coursing through her veins! Her grandfather actually wanted her to play for Italy, and Alessia was up for it! It would be nice to know why she didn’t?
Yet another great interview, Sam! I had to pause the video to look for a video of Alessia's back heel goal at the Euros. Wow! I'm always amazed to see the keeper nutmegged, but it's other-worldly to do it with a back heel while moving away from the goal.
OMG, I have become such a shameless fanboy of the Alessia Russo game. She has improved every year since she started, and I don't believe that she has reached her peak yet. She will continue to improve for several years to come. Not that there is anything wrong with her game right now. She is a complete player, a total baller. She has an amazing turn of pace, great ball control with either foot, and always an aerial threat. And she gets back for defense when she needs to. I honestly think she would be a great centre back. She is going to be HUGE for both Arsenal and England for the next several years. I am looking forward to watching her growing partnership with the brilliant Jess Park on the England team. They seem to have struck up the absolute perfect partnership in very few games. I really believe that there is huge potential for the Jess and Less Express! Arsenal seem to have under achieved for the last few years, but surely this is going to be one of the best WSL seasons ever!
I'm a Yank who's been a big USWNT fan since the 90s, but who in recent years have also become a big fan of the Lionesses and the WSL. (I adopted ManU a few years ago as "my" team because of Russo and her pal Tooney, but have been torn since Russo moved to Arsenal.) Anyway, Russo's game at age 25 reminds me of Alex Morgan's game at age 30, for all the reasons you mentioned and more. It sure seems to me like the sky is the limit for her.
Oh-em-gee!!!After I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Leah Williamson interview I literally thought, “what are the chances that Sam would interview another Lioness like Russo?” So ecstatic that my wish came through 🥹💃
Hello Sam. I enjoy watching Alessia on BBC TH-cam Toone and Russo show, as well as watching her play football. You need Ella Toone on at some point. In small UK properties, space for a dryer is limited, but I grew up in a house with a tumble dryer, that family houses sometimes have room for. UK universities do not have the same structure as in US, but the first person I met and joined societies with was Sir Alok Sharma. I saw "Back to the Future" with him in Manchester. I often wonder what I would say to our younger selves if I had that DeLorean. The last time I saw him on TV he was between the King and PM.
The reason uk houses didn’t have a drier is cultural…Drying clothes out of doors was considered more beneficial in regards to the sanitising effects of sunlight! P

Na! They are yesterday’s news like an old newspaper! Their footballing and international days are coming to an end! That’s what I like about Sarina Wiegman. She doesn’t hesitate to replace ageing players with new blood!

Alessia is what I would call an angel. Her family did an amazing job with this young lady..
