They all have various gears in them. The "blue" gear is actually the left threading gear and all the Sony VHS models that use this same chassis (555 757 585 585 686 R5 R1000 svo2000) use the same chassis. Different chassis is different parts.
Archiving old content mostly I would imagine. I don't see any vald reason to be recording anything on tape. The exception to this is to get an authentic look, and I might do a video on just this. Produce a video in on the computer take it to tape and then back and show the process for the desired results of old home video without using emulators and filters.
@@12voltvids There’s a number of musicians who are interested in analog recording that hunt for these units as mixdown decks, as opposed to reel-to-reel machines. I picked up a Sony SLV-998HF for that reason. On that note they have to be a HiFi stereo unit, rather than the old linear audio ones. But the audio quality compared to a R2R is excellent.
I know this video isn't related, but I have a Teac - V 770 that I have been working on, off and on for awhile. I used a 440 tone tape to adjust the speed, and after the deck warms up after awhile ill check the speed with my guitar tuner and it always increases slightly. I've recorded on it and i'll play back on another deck and of course it sounds slightly slow. I've changed the capacitors on the board for the power supply, most were bad besides a few. I've lubed the capstan and even changed the belt. I also used rubber renue on the Idler and Pinch roller. And for the hell of it I even tried another motor I had on hand and it does the exact same thing even after cracking them open and lubing them up. The only thing I haven't done is pull the reel motor out. I'm assuming this isn't normal performance, Any advice from you or anyone in the comment section would be great, before I chuck it out the window or sell it for 20 bucks. Thanks.

That Deoxit voting VPN story is crazy. Like why would someone even try to fix up that voting (outside of yourself, which you didn't).? Sounds more like a mistake on their part, or disingenuous reason to disqualify you without telling the real reason. The reason I think it could still be a mistake, is that detecting VPNs is still hard. Google still hasn't figured it out themselves either. Lately I've had to block their IPv6 addresses because they've been CAPTCHA-ing the 6in4 tunnel broker I use (Hurricane Electric) to get IPv6 support while my ISP still doesn't support it. And Google flags it as VPN DDOS.
Have no idea. Got an email telling me i was disqualified and when I replied back they said an investigation showed irregular voting patterns that they said we as vpn related and both me and the guy in 2nd place had been disqualified. That's all i know.
@@12voltvids Yeah, I wasn't expecting you to know more.... I was just rambling my surprise. Maybe it was the third guy wanting you to be disqualified 😂
Dave, things go somewhere else when watching people do their thing. Here is another case of this. You mentioned Deoxit and the fact that you don't promote them and then Russia. I have found out that my family is directly connected with the Ukraine. One of my relatives family's great grandfather was from Ukraine. Went to the university in Russia and became the designer of helicopters. His name Igor Sikorsky. They boys are my second cousins. Go figure. BTW, still learning from your insight and experience. Also, I got some new Deoxit because of your mention that it has a shelf life.
The whole thing about Russia was a joke. Unless you have living under a rock Russian hackers have been all over media for years including influencing election results. I got an email from the manufacturer at the office at telling me that my entry had been disqualified due to irregular voting and them detecting people using vpns to mask their identity and cast multiple votes. Now since I had nothing to do with that as I couldn't vote for myself even if I wanted to, someone external did it and aparantly they were anonymously tipped off to the fact. I was way ahead and the results and had no knowledge of anything going on in the background as I wasn't monitoring. Just like the year prior when I was contacted after winning that I had won the contest. After they emailed me I contacted them and asked him what was going on and they said that they had received the tip that someone had been using a VPN to have them to vote more than once a day and upon doing an audit they traced it back to one source IP. You see the thing that people don't understand is that using a VPN does not hide your true identity it's actually not that hard to trace originating up address. some of the better paid services might mask your location a little better but the free ones that are out there you might as well not be using one at all. All it takes is a lawyer to write a letter to a VPN provider and threaten them with legal action if they don't reveal the source. The VPN provider might not tell them the name but they will certainly confirm if provided with timestamps from their outgoing server if the original connection came from the same IP. That's apparently what they did was they went to the VPN provider gave them a list of time stamps and the IP that the VPN was using and asked them to confirm of it was the same user at all those times and it was and that was all they needed. So they didn't know who was doing it but they did know that the originating IP was the same I'm that same IP was putting in multiple votes for both me and the guy in second place so we both got disqualified. At least that's the way they explained it to me either way it leaves a bad taste in my mouth because I had nothing to do with it yet I was penalized because of a troll and we'll leave it at that. I have my hunches as to who it might have been the guy in Florida actually that's been creating a lot of shit for the last 5 or 6 years.
It was probably the guy doing it because they said they had been tipped that fraud was being commuted and after investigating and auditing it was discovered that a single ip was tunneling in from different locations to vote. Hmmm sounds fishy.
