why would anyone teach a new driver to stay in the middle lane? Keep right unless overtaking,.

the reason is people entering traffic and the road ending to become 2 lanes. Its easier because you dont have to worry about people entering traffic and since the road might end, you then have to makea lane change.

No, there is no reason to camp in the middle lane. It invites people to dangerously pass on the right. Keep to the right except to overtake.

I think also because the exits could be on either side. Its easier to switch over on short notice if you're directly in the middle.

Please don’t sit in the middle lane though. Changing lanes is not dangerous if done correctly by checking your mirrors, blind spot and indicating in plenty of time.

Why would you stay in a middle lane? I find it pretty annoying, I think if right lane is empty just sit there. If he is slow then people from both left and right lane can overtake him

some that I know do not realize they are to move to allow on ramps to be allowed to come on. They feel they need to yield so they feel they do not have to. Kinda selfish of them. I understand yes you do not have to. But you should. They do not feel the way I do.

  • @criticalcerebral

Yeah, stay in the far right lane so a cars coming off the ramp cuts you off, great teaching for new drivers.

maybe some of the hints give some advice to new drivers, but 1. if you did not learn how to change lanes, don't drive on highways 2. on three lane highways - for God sake - don't drive in the middle lane! it's absolutely against the keep right rules and dangerous to all other drivers.
