Hello, I'm setting over 45 years, never set the Diamonds on the Bottom of the bracelet, always a little bit higher. so the braclete will have volume. your work it's Fine!
I was wondering if you had any tips for "relaxing" it a bit, im almost ready to start setting stones but its still quiet stiff, it has no problem bending in the direction its meant to lay (around the wrist) but its stiff to the point where it wont bend much in the other direction like if i want to lay it flat. Thank you for these videos they are great!

Love the video! Quick question though if I’m working with different size stones (eg: 3.9-4.1mm) stones should I just keep each setting area 4.1 and drill different size holes for the different stones to keep it looking even?
Hey Jeff, I would stay on 4mm. Mid point. Your stones are so close - rather let the settings dominate the design and let the diamonds do the sparkling. Thanks for the feedback and good luck.
This is such a great learning video. I am currently planning my exam piece to finish my apprenticeship and would like to make a line bracelet as part of it. However I was thinking of larger settings, about 14mm. Is that too large to ensure the bracelet will bend nicely around the wrist?
That sounds like a fun project- 🤞🏻 just scale up the wire thickness or even use plate at that size. Send me a picture on Instagram ‘jacothejeweller’ when you are done with the piece. And thanks for watching.
Hi Jaco I have a sterling silver tennis bracelet with 0.5c diamonds & a lock clasp for safety on the side. Do I need an extra safety chain added to it? Can I do this at home? How would I go about it? Thanks for any advice 😃
Hi Carol, it certainly would add another safety mechanism to your bracelet. Usually the clasp and catch on the side would be enough but don’t deal with a pin that has worn through around the clasp area (which is where it often occurs). So to add a safety chain would be recommended for extra safety. You could buy a safety chain from a local jewellery supplier and with a pair of pliers you should be able to add this as the little o-rings are typically open. Just bend them sideways and close them again. If you have any issues with this then a local goldsmith would be happy to add it for you. Hope this helps and sorry for the late reply, Jaco

I don't really understand or I can't actually see exactly how you are soldering the links. It looks like you just pushed the wire link inside the collet but it must be a jump ring you're closing, right??? VERY nice. I am going to try and assemble a line bracelet in platinum, but I'm not making the settings. Still, it's excellent how you did it. Most interested how you made the box clasp, not to mention the safety chain! I assume the "tongue" of the box clasp is just regular platinum, yes? It's not any type of "spring metal"? Thanks for saying that you use the HOTTEST SOLDER YOU CAN USE. My gut tells me to use 1400-1500 solder... Your tutorial is of great help.
Well, I may just use 1500-1600 solder. The settings I bought already made from a supplier. I just wanted to know what number solder to use and you answered my question. But LOVED how you made the box clasp. Really excellent work.
Wow Minda, what a boost to have such great feedback. I'm so glad that my video gave you some inspiration - Good luck. This is a VERY satisfying project to finish.
@@jacothejeweller I BET it is! I'm eager to try it. Someone told me to use white gold for the "tongue" of the clasp because of "spring ability".... Is your tongue on your clasp platinum, too? (I plan to use all platinum), but is that what you did, too?
@@mindakrawitz8698 I used platinum all the way. You can harden the bend by hand and this helps a lot. But as you can imagine, this part doesn’t have to be as strong because there are other safety components to assure that the whole clasp is secure. But for me it’s platinum all the way 😊
Thank you ! hey so i have asked in the other video, So you Do solder in the end the little wire connections , right? you connect the links with the wire from one side of the link, through the hole, and bend it backwards. Then tap on the wire so it will sit in the grooves that you made, and Then soldering it ? Again, thanks for your videos!
You are welcome. I’m glad you enjoyed the videos - yep solder all the wire parts that fold around. Then flatten them out and cut the excess. You are good to go 👍🏻

We can always set up a virtual or physical appointment from there on. The email address is jacothejeweller@gmail.com. Looking forward to hearing from you. - Jaco
Hi, thanks for the question. You could buy ‘tube’ and cut them to size if you are making a lot of settings or if you can’t buy metal in that shape where you are, you’d measure the diameter of the stone and multiply it with pi to get the length, measure the height of the stone to get the width and roll the metal out to your desired thickness. This will get you close enough but you’d have to experiment to see what works best. Good luck 👍🏻
Hi Minho, I currently us a shop bought powder but would highly recommend alum crystals on a hot plate. I’ve also used battery acid (sulfuric acid) in the past with backing soda as a neutralizer. This works well for a powdery white silver finish. But be careful with the fumes on that one. Good luck.
Interesting question Elli. Traditionally for the female market but these days I find that jewellery crosses the barriers. So let’s call it personality rather. If you prefer a masculine look, I’d perhaps stack a few bracelets next to each other to create volume. Wearing the bracelet on it’s own will look delicate. But this is a tricky area depending on culture, demographics. I hope that this answers your question - perhaps a good topic for a video 🤔
Hey Nicholas, it depends on the size of your stones/settings and the wrist size. I just measured the length of the bracelet and then divided the stone size into that.

But for me it’s platinum all the way 😊
@@jacothejeweller That makes perfect sense. That's how I'm going to do it also ;-))))))))))
Thank you ! hey so i have asked in the other video, So you Do solder in the end the little wire connections , right? you connect the links with the wire from one side of the link, through the hole, and bend it backwards. Then tap on the wire so it will sit in the grooves that you made, and Then soldering it ?
Again, thanks for your videos!
You are welcome. I’m glad you enjoyed the videos - yep solder all the wire parts that fold around. Then flatten them out and cut the excess. You are good to go 👍🏻
Do you have a webpage or an email? The fb link is not working. Thank you very much.
Hey Ana, I’ll have a look why that link isn’t working. Have you tried direct messaging me on my Instagram page? ‘jacothejeweller’
Or just jacothejeweller@gmail.com

Where can I buy line bracelet? I have the diamonds just need a 7 row line bracelet? Can u help?
Hi there, thanks for your comment! We'd love to help. Could you send an email over to us with a bit more information like the size of the diamonds, the metal you would like the bracelet made in and the country you are based in? We can always set up a virtual or physical appointment from there on. The email address is jacothejeweller@gmail.com. Looking forward to hearing from you. - Jaco
Am Lisbon Kaira I want to know how made round settings before solder the claws
Hi, thanks for the question. You could buy ‘tube’ and cut them to size if you are making a lot of settings or if you can’t buy metal in that shape where you are, you’d measure the diameter of the stone and multiply it with pi to get the length, measure the height of the stone to get the width and roll the metal out to your desired thickness. This will get you close enough but you’d have to experiment to see what works best. Good luck 👍🏻
What is that bench pin with different attachments called?
Hey, the two I tend to use the most are the GRS BenchMate and the Knew Concepts Sawing Bench Peg - hope this helps. 👍
Thank you very much!!!
It’s our pleasure - we’ll keep these kind of videos coming.
Very nice, well explained, & i love the sound effects :-) What equipment are you using to get those closeup shots?
Thank you Andrew, our set-up has since changed but at the time I was using a Canon es80/90D with a basic kit lens (I think).
when you solder silver and want the flux layer removed afterwards, what (heated) acid or liquid is used i couldnt hear nor figure it out yet
thx
Hi Minho, I currently us a shop bought powder but would highly recommend alum crystals on a hot plate. I’ve also used battery acid (sulfuric acid) in the past with backing soda as a neutralizer. This works well for a powdery white silver finish. But be careful with the fumes on that one. Good luck.
What do you file the metal down with?
Hi there, is there a specific part of the video are you referring to? 🙂
Hi mate, where di you get that bench peg with the different accessories?
Hey Leo, GRS tools. Good stuff all the way. Have a look at their website here grs.com/
16:35 I've heard something , is that a cricket...?
do you glue the wound on your finger by superglue?
I do indeed 😊 but that’s just me. I’m sure we all have different ways. This one has worked for me for close to 30 years 💪🏻
Hey I like your removable workstation did you make that or did you buy it?
Hey Keita, I use GRS tools - you can view it here grs.com/product/benchmate-encore-qc-stone-setters-package/
can men also wear this bracelet or is it made for women ?
Interesting question Elli. Traditionally for the female market but these days I find that jewellery crosses the barriers. So let’s call it personality rather. If you prefer a masculine look, I’d perhaps stack a few bracelets next to each other to create volume. Wearing the bracelet on it’s own will look delicate. But this is a tricky area depending on culture, demographics. I hope that this answers your question - perhaps a good topic for a video 🤔
@@jacothejeweller It's an interesting topic, thank you very much for the help 🙂
I like to know how you hook each one on your table
These guys sell all the parts - grs.com/product/benchmate-encore-qc-stone-setters-package/
how many links minimal in a tennis bracelet
Hey Nicholas, it depends on the size of your stones/settings and the wrist size. I just measured the length of the bracelet and then divided the stone size into that.
I need help finding the right dremel and attachments
Hi Deborah, how can I help?
Thạnks
You are welcome. I enjoy the work which makes it easier.
