Was great on a good track, but near unbeatable on the wet !! Best high quality Mudlark I have ever seen. His win in the Myer of 1992, over 1400 , first up after a set back, with a huge weight was unbelievable to see
Roughie gave you heart burn, much the same as Bonecrusher. The race was never won until the winning post. You had champs like Sunline, but she dominated from the front and stuck on - don't get me wrong - still a great horse. But Roughie and Bonecrusher, on multiple occasions, came from off the pace to make winning exciting.....many a ticket was ripped up, half way down the straight, and the hunted for and cellotaped for recovery.
I was there with my brother. Old timers were crying. Fantastic. From a truly underrated and under-appreciated champion.
was never underrated or under-appreciated by me Ben......right up there with Cardigan Bay
A magnificent horse...slaughteted in 91 cox plate..saw his myer stakes win in 92..20 lengths last...crowd loved it.what a mighty horse.
Jeez he was a magic horse.

Yeah. Melbourne Cup, Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate winner. At 8yo . Some said he was ordinary. Remember.
The best
Made those other greats look second-rate.
That`s right. Beat the Melb cup Caulfield cup and Cox Plate winners all in one go. What a champion.
