They explained in the program flyer that the Chaunk format was given to us by Guru Arjan Dev Ji Maharaj at Sri Harmander Sahib. We still the timing for these Chaunki's (Assa-Di-Chaunki, Balawal-Di-Chaunki, etc.) The Chaunki was noted as Char (4) parts: 1. Shaan (instrumental in the Raag of the Reet). In the 70s most Raagis (Bhai Dharam Singh Zakhmi, Bhai Avtar Singh, Bhai Harbans Singh (Jagardhri wale) etc. played Shaan 2. Mangal-Charan (usually in Chartaal) 3. Shabad Reets (in a Wade Taal). 2007 Jawaddi, the Taal used was also to be Dhamar. 4. Pauri. I hope one day Sri Harmander Sahib makes it mandatory to follow-up our Guru Ji's installed Chaunki format. The Shaan concept is flawed ji .I mean Shaan is there but it is a different thing altogether than the 'Shaan' in vogue nowadays. In Shaan just a constant lehra was kept whist it was the percussionist usually on Jori - Pakhavaj who expressed and displayed a part of their repertoire to the fullest extent .Tanti saaj or later Harmonium were only used fir Nagna/Legrand. This is an aspect mostly of old compositions ... Sometimes wordsvsuvh as Vaah , Mai Vaari etc were embedded into the composition to better convey the meaning of the Shabad hence , helping the composition to act as a vessel to convey the Shabad's essence . The Ragis made it clear or the Sangat was already clear the words are a part of the Shabad's composition and not the Shabad .Bhul Chuk Khins ji , WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH 🙏
Tuman is the respectful plural To say tum n is bargaining Remember it is brij in which adding n makes noun plural very much as n with Nayan makes it nayanan Sadly we keep pronouncing it as Nayan nun etc in singing Aarti A bright singer like you ought to be aware in this respect
