I have nothing against all these real estate development...but in reality most of these offices and malls are empty. There is no real economic growth in this country.. government infrastructure spending (borrowed from China) is keeping our economy on the move..the middle class is so thin. I wish we had investors investing in manufacturing industries etc that would spur real economic growth. The service industry relies on a middle class with enough disposable income.
Yeah, Kenya's growth's mainly in the service industry. I think it's been moving really fast. And every day I hear new upper-middle - high income gated communities being advertised while still in their conceptual stage. But I still think there's opportunity in the service industry since despite the problems in the country, there is a greater number of wealthier people, in the country than 10-20 years ago, in my humble opinion. But I also keep telling close friends the real opportunity is in enabling manufacturing in Kenya which is growing dismally and the service industry cannot grow forever, eventually it'll hit saturation point and prices will fall, especially with every developer focussing on high-upper middle income sector. As an engineer, I can tell you that most engineering jobs nowadays tend to be sales engineer jobs here, just glorified sales people who know enough to do a bit of maintainence of pre-built foreign machinery, electronics, telecoms stuff, etc, but very little to advance their fields. And the problem is eventually, there'll be no more jobs for engineers aside from entrepreneurship.

shujaa kijana lol I feel your pain but this developers are private and not government. Everything you mentioned is true but should be channeled to the government
The problem started back then when nairobi was designed. Whoever did the planning failed to project future expansion, failed to built horizontal infrastructure and thats makes it difficult for developers right now
9:28 "For a project to happen, they follow ALMOST all that's required by the book" The rest they can bribe their way out off, unlike other parts of the country.
The answer is NO unless you're making a couple millions per month or you are a wealthy foreigner. I'm sure this would be proven if he asked the owner of the typical profile of the buyers.
Expensive is relative. That building is not targeted at fellows commenting on this story including myself. At 25M you would have a big ass compound and a 4 bedroom house on the outskirts of Nairobi. Upperhill is for ballers and play boys who already have a home elsewhere.
My issue is about the Government why can't they issue licenses for the developers to finish their projects in time. This is what fades me up with the government, all they know is to ask for bribes from the investors very disappointing

Most of the land is community land..People are aware how masaai were disposed in other places..plus borana are armed to the teeth..they recently massacred somali herders who trespassed there .
The idea is good but tricky to implement.
@@koscocosco5309 but the government will buy the lands and not to take it by force.
@@alfanm.8221 which govt.. This one never resettled even the IDPs..
No vision No morality No honesty.
It looks like high maintenance, if I break my bed who fixes it or do you replace? If you have children they tend to run into things a lot. What about the furniture in the event I need an upp grade?
What i don't like about upperhill is with so much money why cant they came together n make good pavements n have their own daily street cleaners and lead by example as in developed nations with coordination they can bring trum around their cbd
Felix Aloo it’s called social responsibility, which is alien to Kenyan corporations!!! Hata sewer system hakuna and they are building homes worth billions!!!
I wish their was a bi law for both westlands and upperhill to have development policies that make all cooperate responsible for their locations
Felix Aloo all the same, it’s hard to force a tax paying company to engage in work supposed to be done by government . Responsible companies do it for good of society. But also government can give incentives like tax breaks for companies that a socially engaged. But I agree with you.
Unless you're not watching the video, , upperhill was meant for a residential area, its now they are making it more commercial by expanding the roads and creating parks
23M for a 2 bed apartment and then you probably cough up some 30k for service charge.
There are some people who can easily afford that, and may choose to put it up for Airbnb and the sort. It would really sell well as an airbnb, location, finishing, security and near most amenities.
People are seriously into investments but some of us are suffering without employment
steve lumumba :,there is work for everyone on the planet. If you look at your surroundings carefully you will find something to do and earn a living.
This whole "documentary" is one very clever advert for that high rise building😁
I noted that too
Yes this is sponsored and has a sponsor board. We have have had several such sponsored content on this series
@@ChamsMediaTV yeah I agree with you - but the building is the sponsor of the content. Advertorial stuff
@@richardmadrian5695 Yes! It is called product placement. Like Watch Connecting Kenyans that we did with Communications Authority of Kenya. Equity Sponsors daring abroad, we feature their products and clients. Ecobank Sponsored us and we had product placement. We have more new such programmes coming up
You make it sound like it's a crime to advertise? Get a life!
We as many are not impressed! A small city with only 4.5m people cannot function effectively, due to negative politics and rampant corrupt behaviours of the shareholders. These are affecting the initial plan of the Nairobi metropolis. Why should all headquarters, industries, govt agencies be placed in one Nairobi? Nowonder everyone hopes for an opportunity in Nairobi hence unwarranted pressure on everything. We should think of a new capital city...plan for expansive Konza tech city or city of Isiolo, instead of the so called Nairobi expansion. Infact it is interefering with our green enviroment and the entire ecosystem.
Good inspiring content.
Man home learning brought me here
Overblown prices.... they just don't make sense
Incredible report
Yes my first education staryed t uphill nurseryschool
Why not include private insurance companies like GIA Insurance and Madison Insurance Group whose headquaters are also located there.
Good work. Next do a follow up on Westlands will you?
Yes we will
@@Chwamwada Thank you and keep up the good work.
very interesting about CHAMS media I love the job they do
Amazing report
so they have registered I.P on the view....very smart people
Other parts of Kenya should be considered for development. Nairobi is very small and congested
Only Nairobi kiambu kajiando and machakoes people sell their land to willing buyers
@@ezekielmburu3418 ii uguo ni maa but laikipia also
88 is a good idea but alot of caution must be taken by interested buyers l wouldn't recommend off plan buying from a company registered in Czech Republic by a person with an English accent and was born in Kenya
Goods news
Please do westlands
westlands is a dump, just like upperhill and the rest of Nairobi. All these residentials have no parks,no walkways,no cycling lanes,no rail system.
What are the on-going condominium fees after the sale price?
Build it I’ll come to buy one .. congratulations you are doing a great job 😊😊
Amazing!!!!!
The problem with nairobi is the high cost of rent. It will hardly attract the investors
people have money my friend.
There is nothing tangible to justify th price hike just speculation.
That's what has been happening in Kenyan lately.
Economies of scale
You have to think everything not only building some skyscrapers everything must be there water sewage transportation Roads, one thing Nairobi is lacking is good modern transportation but instead, they are just building only some big offices no good affordable housing for so many people no good transportation you can see people walking kilometers and kilometers come on we are almost 2020 still no city trams no underground metro they should get rid of these old ugly fashioned matatus old cars old polluted lorries in the city they should build trams underground metros for transportation then Nairobi will be in good position but now they are still far to reach top 10 but they are trying very much and doing there best. nice malls.
shujaa kijana lol I feel your pain but this developers are private and not government.
Good job
wow good contents
But, what’s the price?
Too expensive people are moving out of this place. Tell me which of those tall building wich is fully occupied
So true. Hence the sponsored advert
Are they for hire or for sale?
Expensive is relative. That building is not targeted at fellows commenting on this story including myself. At 25M you would have a big ass compound and a 4 bedroom house on the outskirts of Nairobi. Upperhill is for ballers and play boys who already have a home elsewhere.
Telcom building , half of it was closed by the statehouse , due to statehouse security
well representation mr. mugambi
Is that an open kitchen? And where are the wardrobes?
motosana1 so many houses in Kenya has open kitchens for over ten years
@@sarahjustice526 I did not need a history lesson. I hate open kitchens and would not invest in a property with such.
Of course with enternet expertriates who are majority can work at home
My issue is about the Government why can't they issue licenses for the developers to finish their projects in time. This is what fades me up with the government, all they know is to ask for bribes from the investors very disappointing
