Hey Chris. We keep pickup hose in tank 1-2" off bottom of tank so you we do not pickup any of the sludgey oil. We also use a clear hose which allows us to see the quality of oil as it pumps. When we see anything but pink in color we stop. We treat the oil being pumped as if it was oil going into our own tanks!

Is there a filter on the suction hose that's dropped into the tank so that your not transferring any sludge to the tote and back again?

I just had my oil tank replaced by a heating contractor and I wish they didn’t put the oil from my old tank in my new tank. I had a quarter tank left from the old tank and then had it filled with new oil. Now I have a layer of sludge on the bottom of my new tank that keeps clogging the fuel filter at the tank. I wish I never filled the tank with new oil because now the whole tank of oil is contaminated. The oil is cloudy and dirty at the bottom. If I hadn’t filled it I could have pumped the old oil out and cleaned the bottom of the tank with rags the best I could. Bottom line, if you put in a new tank, follow the first step on the label on the new tank. DO NOT TRANSFER OIL FROM THE OLD TANK TO THIS NEW TANK.
