The Heart of Jesus

Tuesday of the Twenty-fourth Week in Ordinary Time1 Corinthians 12:12-14, 27-31aPsalm 10:1b-2, 3, 4, 5Luke 7:11-17
Biblical: If yesterday Jesus was amazed by the faith of the Centurion. Today, Jesus was moved with pity upon seeing a widow who is about to burry her only son. Jesus told her, “Do not weep.” Then he touched the coffin and told the dead, “Young man, I tell you, arise! ”, and the dead man sat up and began to speak.
Reflection: We see here that every time Jesus would be touched through his heart, he would always perform a miracle. Kahapon, namangha siya sa pananampalataya ng Kapitang Romano, kaya napagaling niya ang sundalong may sakit. Ngayon naman, naantig siya sa Balo kaya binuhay niya ang anak nito.
But let us understand why Jesus was touched by the widow. During that time, only men are allowed to work. Women are the ones who take care of the household. This means a widow who lost her husband could only rely on her son if she had. In the case of the widow in the gospel, she also lost her only son. Wala na ngang kasama sa buhay, nawalan pa siya ng katuwang sa hanap-buhay.
Ito ang dahilan kaya naantig ang puso ni Hesus dahil sa kaawa-awang kalagayan ng balo.
Contemporary: It’s good to know that Jesus has a heart for those who are in need. He is touched by situations where we have nothing and performs miracles for us to have something.
However, it is also good to understand that if we feel something is not happening despite our situation, maybe God still sees something in us.
Akala lang natin walang wala na tayo. Pero meron pa tayong kayang gawin.
Iniisip lang natin, kaawa-awa tayo. Pero ang totoo may maibibigay pa tayo.
Pakiramdam lang natin wala na tayong pag-asa. Pero niagkakamali lang taco.
Hindi pa tayo nakaka-awa, dahil madami pa tayong puwedeng magawa.
My dear brothers and sisters,Jesus knows who needs help and those who need push. His heart is easily moved to people who are helpless and to situations that are hopeless.
