For the Mac version, could the USB view be implemented as a dockable window ? And maybe even create multiple instances of that window ? My idea would be, that on a Mac with multiple screens, one could then have the Multiview on a different screen and maximized. Eventually maybe 2, 3 or 4 multiviews, if you add a capture for each multiview on a 2M/E, 3M/E or 4M/E.
Amazing updates, as always! Do you think it would ever be possible to get a supersource that would be optimized for vertical video? I always wanted to be able to stack sources for multicamera podcasts where i could have each guest and the wide shot stacked on top in a 1080x1920 output somehow. or even just take the inputs, flip them 90 degress and put them on a 1920x1080 supersource stack so that i could just flip that supersource in post for vertical video.
This is something that needs to come out from BMD. You could look at Zoom Tiles however, which can let you output video in 9:16 format: www.liminalet.com/tiles
Hi Adam, Mixeffect Pro is working nicely with my Ipad Pro. I started to use mixeffect as off today on my MacBook air M1, I see the usbview but once i activate supersource my setup between Macbook and Streamdeck buttons is not working anymore. I know am doing something wrong … do i need to add an extra connection in Bit Companion like i did for the Ipad?
If you were previously using Companion to communicate with your iPad, you now need to either (1) change the ports and IP addresses to reflect the Mac's address (or use 127.0.0.1) or (2) create a new MixEffect module connection in Companion pointing to your Mac. Second, make sure that the OSC Server and Ports are set up correctly in your Switcher Connection entry in MixEffect on the Mac. Since you'll have to recreate buttons, I would recommend (1) if you plan to change in Companion which MixEffect device is controlling the ATEM.
You can turn on Shortcut Macros which will you can use with MixEffect and a shortcut to enable VFA. Unfortunately, VFA is a feature of MixEffect, and macros only affect the ATEM. See this for more details: docs.mixeffect.app/explore/macros/shortcut-macros You can also enable in Switcher Settings to always turn on VFA. This is useful if you experience disconnects or just want VFA to be enabled whenever you connect to a particular switcher connection. docs.mixeffect.app/configure/switcher-connections#video-follows-audio
You need an ATEM switcher that supports SuperSource. Here is a current list: docs.mixeffect.app/explore/supersource If your switcher doesn’t support SuperSource, it will not appear in MixEffect.
I do run the computer in that location over remote desktop. I guess I could just get the app for the local computer? Or what's the best way? Happy to pay for an hour of your time!
You could have MixEffect running on the remote computer or if you control the ATEM over the VPN with MixEffect (and as a result the HyperDecks). But sometimes, the reliability of a VPN connection can be hit or miss (the ATEM and its controller needs a strong, steady connection). What is your exact use case?
@@AdamTow We are streaming two Sony FR7s in NC that are hooked into an ATEM 2M/E Constellation 4k and we would use MixEffect to switch the cameras and start/stop the HyperDecks recording.
@@andrewmanzano This should work then, either remote into the computer running MixEffect locally (more reliable) or use MixEffect over the VPN (it will work, but I can't speak about its reliability). If you go to former route, make sure MixEffect is hard-wired into the Ethernet network.
Hi Adam - love the app. Just wondering if there’s a way to add another box. I’m using Box1 for multiple preset and the transition between the 2 doesn’t work because it’s the same box.
@@tdivina28 are you referring to SuperSourfe Box 1? Unfortunately, you cannot do transitions within SuperSource boxes. You could animate between box 1 and 2 in your presets, moving box 1 off screen when box 2 comes on screen for instance. The other option is to combine multiple ATEMs so the box sources are powered by the other ATEM. Then you can do transitions on that ATEM and the one doing the SuperSource will see them occur in the box. But that complicates things because now you have to manage two ATEMs.
Thanks @@AdamTow. That's a great workaround. I was referring to "Box 1-4" in SuperSource. Will you be adding more boxes in the future? It's great for church livestreaming. Thanks again for all your work!
@@tdivina28 You can use the two DVEs to get two additional boxes. They won’t operate the same as SuperSource boxes, but you can use this method to get 6 boxes on screen. Combine MixEffect with Companion/Stream Deck to display all six on screen at the same time. Several of the sample presets show the parameters you need to specify for a 5 or 6 box layout using the DVEs (check in the preset description).
I saw that and will have to look into what's possible with direct Stream Deck support. As for Media Thumbnails, this is more problematic because you have to download the thumbnails every time to connect to the ATEM. So, if you manually disconnect/reconnect to the ATEM (or if it happens randomly), you'll have to redownload all those thumbnails again, which could take time and lead to more disconnect/reconnect attempts.
@@AdamTow - downloading the thumbnails should be quick. Would be grateful if you could explore it as an option, as it would really enhance usability. Thanks again!
Go to the App Store and search for the version of MixEffect (Trial and Pro Unlock) or MixEffec Pro (Paid Up Front) you originally downloaded. If it says Update, tap that. If it says Open, you might already have the latest version. Check in MixEffect Settings > About MixEffect.
Hello Adam, do we know when we can expect a future release that would allow ATEM mini Pro ISO users the ability to wirelessly not only control the switcher but most importantly SuperSource the various HDMI inputs from the ATEM Mini Pro ISO? thank you. Again currently using iPad 7th Gen. If and when ever it gets release please reach out and take my money PLEASE! :). My main reason for these request is that like most of the user here, we are a 1 man show and so I would like the availitiy to wireless switch camera angles when hosting a podcast with my studio guest, without having the ATEM right next to me and or any cables showing on the shot.
I'm not BMD, so I can't comment on what their development cycle, but I highly doubt there will ever be a firmware update that supports SuperSource in the ATEM Mini Pro / ISO line of switchers; I don't think the hardware supports it. So, you'll have to go to the Extreme / Extreme ISO to get SuperSource. Wireless control of the ATEM is another open question. That's one reason why I developed MixEffect in the first place.
Hello Adam, I have one more question for you if I may. If using the Super Source feature via your APP, do these get "baked" into the recording either if one chooses to use an external SSD to then enhance the editing later down the road with ATEM multiple file sources or if one is recording the video via OBS? Again I'm aware that this feature only works for ATEM Extreme models. thank you for your time.
If SuperSource is on Program, any transitions you do via MixEffect will be baked into the recording. If you are using the ISO Record feature of the ATEM Extreme ISO model, the SuperSource transitions will be in the Program record, but the transition information WILL NOT be in the Resolve project file. If you’re recording the Program output using OBS, SuperSource transitions will be recorded.
