    ,
Lost my husband 3 years ago after 64 wonderful years. I remain in our home we shared .
I look forward to our time together again. I loved being married and miss him everyday.
Time helps us move forward alone . I changed my thinking to gratitude instead of Grieving.
How blessed I was to have shared 64 years with this wonderful man. Fortunate to remain in
our home, drive my car, excellent health no medication, and financially independent
My dear husband had Alzheimer’s. I took care of him in our, home he loved where he passed away.
I have photos of him during our happy times throughout the house which brings me comfort
My dear husband was 86;when the good lord took his hand,
    GodmBless

Enjoyed listening! I am a 71 year old widow. I can relate to your story. I am in a TH-cam group called One Happy Widow. It has been a Godsend. There is also a private FB group connected to it. We have widowers in the group also. Learning to be happy again is the goal but we also recognize that you never " get over " losing your loved one. You just hopefully learn to deal with a new way of life. Sounds as if you are doing a great job. Sail on!

I suggest trying to shift your perspective of missing her by the things in your house to the perspective of how each one gave you and her joy. Be thankful that you have the things around your house to remind you of her, and think about the good things that happen about that item.

My husband was my caregiver and my supporter and life saver. I have 15 seconds to get epi pen in or there is no blood going to my heart or brain. We didn't know until his autopsy that he had the congenital heart disease. My life is so difficult and I spend most days in bed due to the damage my disease has caused me. 10 years ago tomorrow, I buried my wife. Truly my soul mate. Tonight 10 years ago, I kissed her goodby for the last time, just before they closed her casket lid. So tonight,. I'm feeling kind of blue and on a lark, I just looked on TH-cam to see if others have had difficulties, setting over such a loss. I ran across your post and I identified with everything you said because I went through all the things that you described. I still have bridges to cross, even after 10 years but it is my intent to do that, but still on my time line and not that of anyone else. God Bless you sir. By the way, I'm 82.

Very nice that your grandkids are filming this for you and love you so much.
You seem like an amazing person and its obvious that you loved your Wife and treated her like a queen.
Im in the same boat my friend.
Lost my Wife after 33 years of marriage to cancer.
We were high school sweethearts and were friends since age 14.
The hardest thing for me is picking up my 20 month old Granddaughter without crying and wishing my Wife was here to love on her but Im so glad she was able to be there at her birth and spend time with her.
It makes me love on her extra special.
We have 12 grandkids and two on the way.
Im so thankful that my Wife had some very deep conversations with me during her 16 months after she was diagnosed and had her first major surgery.
She said some things to me that really help to comfort me right now 30 days after she passed.
We spent her last 8 weeks in the hospital together day and night after her second major
    Surgery.
I wasn’t taking my eyes off of her.
She was in the medical field for many years and many of the nurses were students of hers.
So many of them were in tears when she started declining.
She encouraged student nurses to give her their first stick, always teaching even while being the patient.
The day before we brought her home her ocologist showed up in tears to say goodbye, two of her surgeons broke down crying , multiple nurses and techs showed up in tears to give her one last hug and many of them made comments that theyve never seen a couple so in love and dedicated to one another.
That was my wife…she always made an impact on people wherever she went and everyone that knew her had a personal story on how she encouraged them to better themselves.
Her life story in itself is one of great triumph to overcome a terrible childhood in which from a very young age had to be the parent in the household in a very dis functional home and took every opportunity to go to the library to read books and learn as much as she possibly could.
She continued her education all while working two jobs, fostering kids and running a household.
    What an amazing woman.

I've been watching other widow vlogs because I recently lost my hubby. Yours showed up on my newsfeed so I was curious about what widowers go through. It's all really the same. I had to laugh about the fitted sheets. One of the many hard parts for me are the finances because hubby was the one who loved working on them. Finances and all the legal paperwork, so overwhelming, still is. I'm surprised no one has mentioned that. Anyway, looks like you have great support through the kids and grandkids. My grandkids could probably start helping me once I get back into my routine. The picture of your wife is beautiful and I love the way you greet her in the morning. I never thought of that but I think I will start saying good morning to my hubby. I'm a believer too and that's where I draw comfort is that he's no longer suffering and is in the arms of Jesus.

My wife did all the finances and bill paying on line; she was so organized that I am not having any problem keeping up with the paperwork; I just don't like doing it! The fitted sheets; I don't change them; I wash them and put them right back on the bed! When they wear out I will replace them; problem solved! My cat buddy is a life saver; he has been keeping me company since she passed and he knows she is gone.

and still pretty healthy, loves to golf with his buddies! We are going through this first year with all of “ the first’s without mom “

Birthdays 13th. 18th all big occassions gone without her presence seems so strange she is not here to share them, but im convinced she is in spirit, and is helping us through this, Erin was such a spititual woman, a social care worker always giving of the most valuable thing we have...time...if we can spread the goodness as she did we will be the better for her influence in our lives. I hope and pray you are doing good, and still have your loving family by your side. It's All that truely matters. Some times it takes a tragedy to realise this. There's a lot of things that I want to do for her but it's not possible now. If only she has reached the same age as of your wife, I know it will be still painful but we could accomplished more and probably less regrets. She will not be able to see her children graduate from colleges and go to work. She will no be able witness their marriage and see her grandchildren. Three months have passed and still very hard for me to accept the reality that she's not here anymore.

Being the youngest child I lost my Dad when I was a sophmore in High School. I really didn't think my Dad would die at just 65 but he did of heart problems.
Both my parents are passed and I know they are together...and happy.

I lost my wife 3 weeks ago after a 15 year battle with cancer. I'm 75 and my bride was my best friend we spent every moment of every day together. I'm so lost I know she is with Jesus and her favorite dog. I'm just not sure I want to go on without her

      Hello John,
Sorry for your loss. I know exactly what you are going through. If the situation was the other way around and you had died, and your wife was living, wouldn’t you want for her to enjoy live the rest of her days? By the same token I am sure that your wife would like for you to enjoy the rest of your life. I know it’s hard because I’ve gone through it but the most important thing is to focus on the positive not the negative. focus on all the memories that you and her had together. I hope that you have a support group made up of either family or friends. They are invaluable during your grief.
      Carlos

Hi Karen, i came across your touching comment in the grieving of love ones post here on face book. Well am really sorry about that okay 😒☹and I know how it feels to be lonely without our love ones, we've all lost our love ones in death one way or the other, either a spouse, child, family members, or a true friend that meant the world to us, such is life I understand how you feel but life must move on because death is inevitable no matter how hard we try! And we'll all have to face it someday...

It is almost a year since my 66 year old husband has passed away from cancer. He too was so healthy prior to this horrible deadly cancer. We were married for 47 years and blessed with 3 children and now 5 grandchildren. You’ve given me hope for the 2nd year of being alone. Bless you.

      Hi Bonnie,
I just saw your comment. As you know the first year is the hardest to endure. It does gets better with time, but you have to get involved in outside activities such as walking, going out with friends, or volunteering at a non profit organization such as a food bank or thrift store. I guarantee you will be amazed at the changes you will go through when you are exposed to others. It’s a privilege to give of yourself to others.

What a healthy attitude of life without his wife. Because he and his wife were Christians the transition was as it should be. Sad and of course not easy but he drew strength from the Heavenly Father God. What an inspiration to others that will have to face one or other leaving. He had lots of family and friends too that is very helpful. I hope the rest of your life continues to be peaceful and full with your memories and draw strength from Jesus.

Carlos, everything you say is so true. For me I am learning yard work on this 30 acres. My husband has been gone for 10 months, I am lost, I miss him so much. He was perfectly healthy then the brain cancer, wow. An incurable disease.
You have a wonderful outlook on life and like you said God, he is always there and good.
I just made a video something like this, a reflection of my grief journey so far. But I am beginning to enjoy a few things there is a light in all the darkness. God be with you.

I feel that men and women losing their other half are really sad,my dad and mom divorced for along time before my dad died, but for myself I still have my husband, but I also feel alone, and people can't understand what I mean, but I do and I felt that for years, so I like to help others if I can,or even when we lose our loved ones it's a lose that you don't ever over come, God bless each and everyone that has to go through this kind of thing,God bless all the people in the world and bless them today and tomorrow and forever
