- The headquarters of the Imperial and Royal Postal Savings Bank of Vienna, designed by Otto Wagner between 1903 and 1906, is a symbol of architectural modernity.
Wagner, after his conversion to modern architecture in 1896, surprised imperial Vienna with his innovative approach.
He designed the building with brick covered in marble for speed and cost efficiency, while preserving a monumental aesthetic. The edifice, with its large courtyards and glass roof, reflects both functionality and elegance. It embodies modernity while maintaining a connection to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, a true architectural paradox.
