In my opinion, Carbon is middle ground in terms of available gun engines out there.
Pros:
- easy to change weapon stats
- relatively realistic for its time
- settings can be adjusted via changing values in scripts
Cons:
- static damage, cannot set random damage into weapon stats
- difficult to script animations
- Code is rather old and is a derivative work

I’m pretty sure that they used acs code and base modles. Then adjusted variables of the acs guns and re designed them.
