That first loud chord scared the heck out of me! And it's not even the surprise symphony!
+Renji Mao The surprise symphony is Haydn.
I know! Hence why I said "NOT the surprise symphony".
+Renji Mao Beethoven was a fan of the surprise though. He often used subito before dynamics, which means suddenly!
It’s difficult to choose a favorite of Beethoven’s symphonies but the 7th is mine. Fantastic job Smalin!
I don't know that I can choose one favorite Beethoven symphony myself, but I will say that this movement it's one of my favorite things that Beethoven wrote, symphony or otherwise. I don't think I will ever get tired of listening to this piece... it just has everything I want in music... dynamics, mystery/suspense, development, power, driving rhythms, amazing melodies, a variety of emotional expressions... I could go on and on but, I think I'll just listen to it again! 😉
Beethoven mit kaum einem Musiker habe ich so viel Freude und Gänsehaut Momente erlebt ich bin froh seine Musik zu unserem kulturellen Erbe zählen zu dürfen!
I love from 11:45 to the end.....I love the entire movement..... I love the entire symphony.
8:57 - 9:27 is like a musical rare solar eclipse. A glimpse of something grand!!! A burst of creativity. A spark of imagination.
That's such a beautifully poetic way to describe that transcendent section of this movement... one of my favorite sections from any Beethoven, no, from any composition I've ever heard, period. So stirring and powerful!
That string bassline + viola is legendary!
9:43 - 10:10 is surely the best moment of the movement. I wish it was longer.
But would it have the same substance? Could it still be something to be desired?
How about 11:45 to the end. That is one bagging coda!
its so beautiful but because he prepared us to it through the whole 10 min before that part comes

That very subtle french horn victory call at 4:57 in the middle of the very obvious fanfare horn theme...listen closely for it. Amazing!
After the noble introduction, to me this movement is s series of "bass drops". Yet so profound!!! Each one is showing how Beethoven composed, from deep deep deep withing his mind. Out of mind, in the composition process, out of seemingly nowhere, colors and forms emerge. And what ideas they are: noble, bounteous, beautiful, everlasting, etc. We listening are getting a glimpse of Beethoven's genius, as in directly putting us in his mind. The joys of creation during a moments of inspiration from the distant guiding sun.
I believe this was the first symphony from any composer that I heard in its entirety, giving it a rare spot in my mind. I love all of its movements, but the first will always feel like a day out with a very excitable lecturer.
The whole score comes alive and every note is shown as if I was conducting the music. What a wonderful learning tool. Please keep adding different music,

An harmonious and beautiful mixture of sounds, colors and forms. I enjoyed following. Thanks
Hey! Smallin. My favorite Beethoven symphony. Reminds me o9f my university days in South Africa years ago . Besides Beethoven. Mozart and Back are the real geniuses. I love Haydn and Schubert too.
Napoleon was planning his campaign against Russia when Beethoven began composing his 7th symphony. The 7th seems to be another musical confrontation with Napoleon after the 3d and the 5th symphonies. This time the context was for the European wars for liberation from years of Napoleonic domination.
I love this symphony!
Just wanted to thank you for all your work on these videos. I've watched every one (on both of your accounts) and simply can't get enough. Thanks again!
How wonderful movment it is ! Thank you
I've been waiting for this one for so long, it's amazing to finally get it :D
So good it's giving me chills.
Bravo
9:45 very pretty
11:31 Just listen to this, isn’t it beautiful?
Thank you, beautiful, joy :)
4:45 Beautiful :)
3 Words: I love it ❤
Beautiful both to look at and listen to! I'd like a dress with the patterns and the colors :-)
Absolutely gorgeous visual data realization, bravissimo!
That is one good recording.
2:21-2:50 this is amazing
Great work!!! It´s a musical mind travel.
The intro reminds me of an MC Escher drawing: continually ascending stairs that bring you back to the same point.
7:50 to 8:30 the flute here is very soft and is leading the melody
Thank you!!
I wonder what Beethoven would compose if he lived today. He's just so brilliant, I would like to know.
Know him through his music
Thanks for your advice.
Thanks so much for doing this
You're welcome. Please help me share my work.

I often share your links on FB.
Great Job
Very Interesting
This piece was used as the background score on the first episode of the 1980 version of Carl Sagan's series Cosmos that aired on PBS...
Love the first 1 minute :D

The weirdest part is not hearing the shuffling of paper at around 4:15
The animations look jerky for me when viewed on a Desktop browser via Flash. On the iPad they are fine. Also when ripping the 720 lines video from TH-cam and playing it in any player, they look great without issues.
So, it is just an issue with the playback in some configurations.
fabuleux! sublime!
"Pure Genius"
Linda! ❤
I feel like there are too many 'moving tiles' at the same time. it's a personal opinion, but I prefer it better when the moving and unmoving ones are mixed. your works are always amazing though :)
The origins of the universe are contained in this 1st movement. I'm just not smart enough to figure it out.
Since you seem to be doing all the Beethoven symphonies, will you do movements 3, 4 and 5 in one video in the Sixth? I appreciate this, by the way; one of my favorite movements!
I plan to do movements 4 and 5 of the sixth as a single video, but all the other movements separately.
Hi, This representation is superb. Please could you tell the times of the start of bar 44 and the end of bar 47?
Who remembers hearing part of this during the Easter Beagle's arrival in _It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown_ (the 50th anniversary will be this year)?

Just incredible its like the fabric of the univers or a univers all those infinite universes kept elegantly together by LOVE - why people pay to go and hear or see Carmen or LA traviata ?
Because they LOVE it .
So Love is the one and all comprising element that put together Einstein ,Newton ,Plank string theory and all other theories yet to be discovered but LOVE is the all engulfing and also the inner matter that holds all together.
After this, you will be done with all the odd-numbered symphonies (!) Any plans on doing the even-numbers?
Actually, I haven't done the first symphony yet, and I've done one movement of the sixth. But I expect to do them all eventually. My planned order is: 7 (two movements to go), 6 (four movements to go), 1, 2, 4, 8.
Still my favorite Beethoven main melody, although "Ode To Joy" runs a very very close second.
These are mine as well! Seems like our ears are related. Do you have any other favorites from Beethoven or other composers I should listen to?
the link is broken for me, but I really want to know which orchestra and conductor this is. Any help would be appreciated!
Y el movimiento 2?
The animation seems jerky on this one, something I've not noticed on your other videos.
The faster ones tend to look jerkier (on TH-cam). Sorry; I don't know what to do about this (they don't start out jerky here).

If you download the video (google "youtube video downloader") and watch them from a local drive they are smooth and beautiful!
4:10 "Is it? It is! He's coming! He's coming! The Easter Beagle is coming!"
I don't know, the "6/8" theme is a bit slow. 1.25x is good though
Execution?
The first part of the movement doesn't repeat like in the first movement of the other Beethoven symphonies performed by the Bezdin Ensemble, why is this Mr. Malinowski?
I don't know. And, since the Bezdin Ensemble doesn't exist, I wouldn't know how to find out.
What do you mean they don't exist? The video says "performed by The Bezdin Ensemble."

One of Beet's better works!
this is long AF
+Long & Hard I recommend you listen to the fourth movement of Beethoven's 9th symphony. It's 25 minutes long.
Emma Axelson that is only 4th movement not the entire symphony
It reminds me of Peanuts the Easter beagle
