When I use the hold CMD shortcut and use the arrows to choose how many splits, ableton nudges the notes instead and I can’t seem to choose how many splits which any other short key. Any ideas why? So I need to change something in settings?
maybe you are doing this in computer midi keyboard mode. to turn it off, click on the piano icon in the top right or the "m" button on your keyboard. also, while performing shortcut, hold cmd + e, and only then click on the arrow
I would recommend to find the best way to have fun while playing. For me in the beginning it was to learn how to play chords in my left hand and then improvise melodies with my right hand
That is such a solid tip. Makes you appreciate the shortcuts
Couldn’t agree more
Wow. The workflow is so improved.
It is!
Like an user coming from FL Studio missing a lot the piano roll, this tip makes me happy a lot, gives instant groove! Thanks sir!
Great to hear!

That’s absolutely gorgeous
Thank you!
This is what makes me most excited 🎉🎉
The MIDI editing stuff are crazy!
whoa! that's a nice one
Thank you!
Sick
So good
insanely helpful
Glad to hear
Why when I hold command and hit my arrow keys it moves the notes left or right instead of giving me an option of how many chops?
Amazing tip! I guess I should upgrade from 11 now 😅
thank you!!😊
You’re welcome!
Wow 😮 I hope I can make something similar to this with Studio One😢
Please update if you find out
@@SideBrain I hope I will find it
You can do this I imagine in any daw … :) s1 would be just as easy
what shortcut do you use to turn the velocity of the hats down? and what shortcut are you using for deactivating the kicks? thanks a lot!
Hold CMD and drag up or down on the notes to change velocity
0 (zero) to deactivate notes
@@SideBrain thank you very much!

Brandy-what about. Song from the 90s had the same humanized off beats. Go listen to it.
Yes! so much of that vibe was in the Neo-soul RnB tunes during that time
@@SideBrain I love these kinds of beats. A how-to guide might be a video idea 💡 🤔 😇
Nothing like j dilla but cool still 👏
Does this work in Ableton 10 suite?
There is a workaround with midi stretching but this new feature is Ableton Live 12
Dopeee
Thank you!
I dont get the kick split into deactivate move
It's just to have options and then it's easier to play around with on/off on each kick to check how it sounds.
How do I play on a keyboard as well as you? Do you just learn scales?

Oh man, I was hoping Ableton's grid can finally be changed to quntuplet/sextuplet😢
Yes bummer but still, not it’s easy enough to get any division you want and beyond
I wonder can Reaper do this?
I couldn’t tell you
And you’re left with a terrible drum beat. Why not just place the notes where you want them? I would imagine it’s quicker in the long run.
second this! Like just imagine how dilla or any swing drum patterns, you want to make it. That's how I do it tho.
🔥🔥
🙏 Thank you!
