If I remember correctly, I used a 1" PVC pipe, about a 14" length, 90 degree elbow, a flush stopper (don't know what it's called. the end piece that stops flow of air) and a sheet of velvet with adhesive backing I found at hobby lobby. I made about a 3/8" hole on the far end for the spindle and cut a slit using my Dremel tool the length of the grooves making sure to grind the edges down smooth. Then I created a strip of velvet along the slit and a small square piece on the end of the spindle hole to protect the surface of the record. I also made a small hole on the handle end to relieve pressure because it was working too well.
I used a direct drive motor from a broken turntable and mounted it on a scrap piece of wood. Basically screwing it down, using blocking where necessary to keep it stable and level. Been working quite well for about 10 years now.
I've been looking for a way to clean my records for a while mow, without spending a fortune. Thank you so much. Awesome idea.
This is great, thank you. Going to try this, would rather spend 50ish for everything than 1k minimum for a fancy setup.
everything about this video is diy.. love it
Intense fight for the dust in this one! Good measure!
Hi, you didn't mentioned how you build it and from what parts. Thanks

When you do the other side, how do you keep the clean side from getting "dirtied" up again when lying it down on the mat? Thanks!
With records that dirty/dusty, I first turn the mat upside down to clean side A and turn it back around when I clean B side.
How is your spindle mounted?

Hi, what did you use for the pads around the slit in the pvc pipe? And where did you source it from? Thanks for your time.
I made strips out of felt paper w/ an adhesive back I picked up at Hobby Lobby.
Cool. Thanks..
I had made a couple home made wonds one for 45s and one for LPs. I have $5 in it. I wasn't going to spend $30 for a piece of pvc pipe. LOL
