    hi jenny, first off congratulations!!
    When did you end up getting the work done for this research proposal (background reading and such)? I always thought we could use our part 1 year out to learn what it is we'd like to do at masters, but I've now realized that applications for cambridge masters open in September!! 2 weeks after my part 1 starts!!
    did you do the research during the summer after graduating or while working as a part 1? did you already know what you wanted to research?

      @JennyKendall  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! It’s all very close in time - I also was so surprised at how early the application process started!
      I took 2 years at part 1 in employment, partly to give me a bit of extra time to look at all my options for Masters and to visit the exhibitions in summer.
      I started researching and the beginnings of my application process in October and finished my application in December. It’s tricky to balance after work so I’d highly recommend starting early to give yourself time! I did the background research after work during this time, and my initial idea changed a lot from where it started in October.
      Everyone is different and there’s no right path, but I have to say lots of my friends have spent 2 years in a part 1 role and have then applied to university this year. There’s a lot of value in the extra year of work but there’s also no harm in applying for Cambridge this year and seeing how it goes!!!
      In terms of what specifically I wanted to research I knew the rough area I was interested in (sustainability, public/community projects, retrofit) and then it’s important that the topic is relevant so I started paying attention to news articles and emerging academic papers in those areas to help me narrow down the research. I’d recommend picking something you’re interested in first and foremost and then go from there. Don’t pick something just because it’s in the news, but if you can find a topic that you’re interested, is relevant and that would be suited to 2 years of research at Cambridge, then you’re probably on a winner!
      Best of luck with the application process!

    • @JennyKendall

      Yeah it is a challenge - I ended up only showing 5-10 pages and the image quality wasn’t amazing

      @@JennyKendall it’s the same for cv and transcript as well - so perhaps they just have a 2MB limit for all attachments in all applications?
      But maybe they should make an exception for us architecture students 😂

    Hello Jenny, sorry to bother you again 😅 but i have one small question
    is the research proposal to be written with a view to your masters dissertation only, or to be written with a view to your masters dissertation and masters design project? if that makes sense

    • @JennyKendall
      @JennyKendall  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, so the dissertation and deisgn project work with each other. They are separate but the research will inform the design just as much as the design will inform the research. Ultimately though, my research proposal talked more about my dissertation aims, but I did select a site.

      @@JennyKendall that is the impression I got from reading the Cambridge online exhibition, but there’s not much hints that this is the case when you make your application!
      That is interesting though, the whole two years to research the same thing from a written and design perspective sounds super exciting!! You can really completely dive into a topic !
      Thank you for all your replies :)

      Thank you! The conditions are things such as upload accurate documents eg passport and to be accepted by a college
