    Must I translate?
    Scrivo in Italiano: se leggete il Latino, leggerete capirete pure l'Italiano che ne è il figlio più fedele.
    Vi faccio i miei complimenti. Tralasciando la pronuncia che non conosco al dettaglio (e tengo al Medioevo), reputo che lo sforzo impiegato per mettere in musica un carme latino sia cosa degna di lode. Soprattutto perché finalmente dà una mera idea di cosa potesse voler dire cantare in una lingua dove non necessariamente le note toniche coincidono con le sillabe accentate.

      A latin knower can indeed undestand something, but absolutely not everything. Indeed I guest I would need a dicctionary to fully undestand it even in latin.

    Stupendo, grazie .
    E bellissima la grande sensibilità contenuta in questo carme, capace di provare affetto ed empatia per questo piccolo passero, per la sua caducità; pregno di quell'amore per le bellezze e dolcezze e di quel poetico dolore per la morte.

      In realtà, come quasi in tutti e 116 carmi, Catullo è ironico e non si riferisce affatto a un volatile della fauna italica, bensì a tutt'altro...

      sembra che molti filologi stanno arrivando alla conclusione che le lingue romanze non vengano del latino direttamente era un lenguggio che è fondamentalmente usato per escrivere e dai potenti. Como succede in alcuni posti in Cina o in Africa. Uno de questi filologi è Carmen Gimenez Huertas.

    Why are they pronouncing the V's as.... Well, V's?

      Aurelian Because that's the correct classical pronunciation.

    • @salvatoreriillo-neuroscien687
      @salvatoreriillo-neuroscien687 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That is no the correct classical pronunciation. The classical one needs a W. They are pronouncing a V instead, following the Italian way.

    • @keegster7167

      +Self OverComing yes.
      There are two dialects: Ecclestical and Classical. Think of them as dialects, because they have different pronunciation, and different words and uses. The pronunciation is mostly based on Italian.
      Est verō.
      Svnt dvae dialectī: Ecclesiae et Antiqva. Habe eōs prō dialectīs, nam prōnvntiātionem diversam habent, verbaqve et v̄sv̄s diversōs. Prōnvntio ducta plērumque dē Ītalianō.

      The pronunciation of v in Latin started as a 'w' then changed to a 'v' during the first century AD. So both pronunciations are classical, although Catullus probably would have used the 'w'.
