Those woods are impregnated in the solution composed of Arsenic, Chromium and Cupper compounds against weathering, so they are basically highly toxic especially when inhaling dust from sawing as well as dust ash from burning the woods. Chromium oxide might cause nasal perforation. So, in my country, the waist woods from railway, telephone poles and power grids are strictly controlled in disposing.
I was just thinking what a cool looking heavy duty kitchen table it would make to knead dough for bread making etc . . still , same style out of less toxic wood would do the job
Thanks for the heads up about the treated timber . . heard excited talk here in Oz about grabbing timber from old wood railway bridges being dismantled & the projects that could ensue , so important to reflect it dangerous to cut up & inhale the dust
LMAO... The dude is wearing sandals while running a circular saw on thick lumber near his feet; he is pushing thick boards through a table saw, with no guard or push stick, getting his hands very close to the blade... I don't think he cares about an inhalation hazard ...but I appreciate you sharing that for the rest of us

That is one hella beautiful table! I'm not sure what railroad ties look like in Vietnam, but those kind of look like telephone pole cross-arms, don't they? They also don't look pressure treated.
The various chemicals used to treat these railroad ties hazardous materials and should be handled as such and be taken to a special waste disposal dump. BEWARE!
It’s called “Creosote” and long term exposure to it can increase the chances of cancer. I wouldn’t want to be breathing in the sawdust from these ties.
Fantastic, very beautiful work brother! Please stay safe though and be aware of your fans concerns about toxins and wearing protective gear!! Love your You Tube Channel and I have subscribed!! Blessings to you, your family and coworkers too! 👍👍👍👍👍
I've seen this a year ago. It had a different beginning. They had gotten all this lumber from an old shipyard. We questioned why they said railroad instead of shipyard..
When clamping table tops together, always alternate the clamps top and bottom on the piece. When attaching the table top to the base, always allow for expansion and contraction owing to changes in heat and humidity - this means not using dowels.
The sleepers will have a lot of toxic chemicals probably bad to work with dust etc but also the lead and heavy chemicals in the furniture to use. Good building skills however
I don't know how they lay track in your country but here in Australia the sleeper sits in a bed of crushed stone and over time little fragments of that stone get imbedded in the wood and no matter how you clean the sleeper you can't remove all the grit. I have tried using a high pressure water jet but it still did not work. So every time I started working on the sleeper with whatever tool it bluntened almost straight away. It did not matter if it was Bi-metal or tungsten or carbide they all had the edge taken off of them so I stopped using sleepers for anything.
Someone mentioned carcinogenics I wouldn’t worry on that score at5’10 the radial saw was very close to his left arm same as not using a push stick on the table saw.
Hi there. Where are you from and which wood do they use for railway sleepers in your country? I'm from South Africa and I believe we use something called ironwood which seems to be similar to teak and is highly prized by woodworkers.
It's Okay If You have Nothing Else To Work With, But I Would Have Filled Up All Them Nasty Holes With Epoxy Filler. Good For Use In A Park, As I Wouldn't Use It At Home.
Mmm. Creosote. Ask me how I know. I picked up a railroad tile while doing landscaping. It rolled and creosote poured out onto my chest and down both arms. That was 50 years ago and I haven't been the same.
These are the beams from a building and not rail sleepers! I have a huge oak beam put aside and was looking for ideas, it’s about 350-400 years old so no way is it going for firewood!
Usage.. Depends on how Naturell you wanne Keeper them in usage. Old oak beams and epoxy looks nice, but absolutely not natural and forever not separateable. Perhaps an natural looking table and a Bank to sit on with brushed and bit sanded surface. Or in a garden in my country a so called ' rider' .for plant climbing onto it. Or ornaments on an old worden building. Big Letters about somethkng/ someone you love... Best regards from a carpenter and artsman
These are NOT railway sleepers. they have notches cut out of them and far to many holes in them. barn roof or boat beams. Railway sleepers destroy all woodworking tools and are unuseable. Carpenter of 35 years.
I love watching these but every time you have the armchair critics airing their knowledge. Accept these videos are from Asian Countries and they do it their way right or wrong in your eyes, accept it. It’s their skill and end product that’s being shown. I think the title is wrong anyway as these don’t look railway sleepers
umm... Skills - very good. Table - super ugly. There's a difference between reclaimed wood and half-rotten railway waste. More of that - railway sleepers could be soaked with toxic anti-bacteria solutions, making them unusable for a food table.
Not immidiatelly. The devils thing is, it takes time. 5 years, 20 years.but it does... Even if is pure hard wood, it is hazardous.various studies proofed it. Money for machines but no money for dust collecting.poor.its also much better for the machines for longer life time

Yep good ol TOXIC railroad timbers , Brilliant!
You stick to your Ikea then!
Great use of PPE, especially the steel toe capped sandals
Whoever buys your table won't have to wait 100 years for it to gain "character," it's already built in. Thanks for posting.
thank you
Good ol' safety brigade.. self righteously saving the day, one comment at a time.
Just beautiful..
Eine wunderschöne Handarbeit mit viel Sachverstand!
That table is solid AF!
Beautiful work of art. You Sir are a master of making sawdust.
Simplesmente magnífica! Adorei! Madeira perfeita! Trabalhoso ! Ubatuba cidade do litoral norte de São Paulo Brasil.
I love the way he does the glue-up with not a square to seen. I bet it's perfectly square just the same.
A true master carpenter, love the dogs as well

Beautiful work sir. Very well done
Beautiful work.
Looks good.
WOW nice and beautiful thank you for showing.
I like it so Beautiful 🙂👌
Great table
True Australian “HARD” timber ! , just like Australia 👍
Sehr schön gemacht. Hut ab-well done
Excellent and rapid working skills!` wow!!
What a beautiful looking table. And no chance of that bad boy breaking is there!?!
❤Using railway sleeper beatiful👍👍👍👍👍
I saw your video and it was amazing
what a beautiful table made with great skill........................

lol he'll be fine
The good news is life expectancy there is so low that inhaling all that toxic dust doesn't matter.
I heard that in the Russian depths they even made houses from old sleepers. "Well, it smells a little like creosote. Always."
Could explain the lower life expectancy compared to the rest of the world.
They are not railway sleepers. They are ships timbers.
great skills
Cheers!
Life is too short to wear a respirator...
Great piece of work, but c,mon fella ,,,,,,,,get your self some safety boots and a mask
Distracted by 2 dogs combating flease. 😅 Nice sturdy table, though!
😅
Master Van.
nice video. nice job!
My understanding in regards to railroad wood ties is that they're treated with poison chemicals to protect from pests, safe if epoxy coated?
Never Safe!

I would like to know how deep the chemicals they use to treat the timber penetration is
The sleepers will have a lot of toxic chemicals probably bad to work with dust etc but also the lead and heavy chemicals in the furniture to use. Good building skills however
Belleza de mueble

Excellent video. Thanks for taking the time. Love what you did with the wood. By the way, Love the dog!

What kind of glue are they using between each piece?
And it gets a whole new life, what a perfect way to retire
26’14 he should of offset the holes so his doles pull the joint together.
What kinda grid do they use on the grinder?

In sandals!
Anouther safety is not a priority production..Got thousands of dollars worth of power tools but no money for a respirator?..Makes sense 🤔
And no sense for the poison dust from those ties which were dipped in for protection as ties😢
Those don't look like railroad ties to me. The ties I have seen are around 8" square, and too heavy to lift.
Peg holes and pegs should have glue applied as well.
Let’s face it you’re not going to be moving that table around once it’s in place.
❤👏👏👏👏👏🇧🇷
I thought you weren’t supposed to use that wood because creosote is a harmful carcinogen.
Don't worry, these are not railway sleepers anyway. Looks like those were taken from a boat wreck.

This table is good for the Swiss cheese Emmentaler with all those holes.
Vertaling opslaan

They are railroad Ties not sleepers.
Ones I did the same job, but was unable to remove unpleasant smell.
We don't know about the smell were the table stands now.😮
And the smell is from the poison chemicals😢
Well going by the safety boots they are wearing, not and not seeing any breathing gear I think they are working very dangerous
Where do you think passenger coach toilets deposit their waste?
Didn't really need to watch every single hole being drilled.
Wood is too far gone for anything much, full of holes and chemicals…….. yeh I’ll pass on that ……
These are NOT railway sleepers. they have notches cut out of them and far to many holes in them. barn roof or boat beams. Railway sleepers destroy all woodworking tools and are unuseable.
Carpenter of 35 years.
mmmm, highly toxic table - bon appetit
We don't need no stinkin' PPE.
Una española
I hope the MAN's UNREST has not gotten into the table.

When you have all the skill but no taste
Perfect solution but your health is gone
Not good enough. Need a hard work... Holes and cracks still there....
With holes it’s not very beautiful...
NO! NO! DON'T USE IT!
None of these Asian guys wears work boots when using power tools. Must not have workers comp in that country.
Carcinogenic …..
umm... Skills - very good. Table - super ugly. There's a difference between reclaimed wood and half-rotten railway waste. More of that - railway sleepers could be soaked with toxic anti-bacteria solutions, making them unusable for a food table.
Why are anti bacterials unussble for Livingstone room table? You never need to clean food particle of it.they will never build bacterias😂
I bet he was really ill after making that.

Krebserregend!!☠☠☠

That wood would stink!!!!!!!!!!!!
This guy knows the wood is toxic …he making it for his mother in law
