I was stuck in purple rank for 2 weeks and finally hit blue two days ago! When i did it, i jump out of my chair,jumpscared my mother and call my father just to tell him i hit blue in tekken. I think he was really dissapointed

Dancing between Mighty Ruler and Tenryu has been my life for like 2 weeks now. This helps knowing that we're all going through it, I see a lot of match up struggles and the "playing too passively" going with my own play. We'll get there. They can't keep us out forever.

This part is important. This is the rank you will start to recognize moves and learn matchups. It will come. It takes a lot of time and you are learning the right way. Don't ever get discouraged because you see people with less time on the game with higher ranks, because a lot of that is knowlege checks.
Tekken at purple+ ranks is basically knowledge checks - the game
It's why i stop grinding as hard after getting to purple and go to quick match, just isn't as fun anymore
@@Dimchek970 It's better to stick to quick play after you hit your plateau against other characters. Coming from someone that is a Fujin Yoshi player, I'm sticking to blue ranks until more balance patches are out and I feel more comfortable jumping back into ranked. Quick play gives you the time to develop your fundamental skills with less stress.
@@Arnuld15Governator You got that rank before so you shouldn't be scared to lose and regain it. Tekken 7 was littered with season 1 'blue ranks' and above who clearly were green ranks scared to be sorted back into their actual rank
@@Arnuld15Governatorit’s stressful and annoying I’m at blue ranks rn too I’m taking a little break and getting back into but don’t stop and wait for an imaginary balance patch there won’t be any fix that’s gonna fix any of the issues me and you are going through, you can fight people in quick play but ranked is what’s gonna make you step up your game don’t get too afraid to lose it I cherish my rank too but at the end of the day, if you got there once you’ll get there again don’t get left behind sometimes you plateu but that’s when you have to go even harder, despite what many say I enjoy ranked after I’m done with it, you fight people who want to win who’s pushing you to improve your game in the moment it’s stressful but it’s gets better
@@rossanderson4156I agree I’m taking a break for a bit I just hit blue ranks, even tho it’s stressful rank is what pushes me to evolve my play style the more I stand by and be happy with my rank and play quick play I feel like I’m getting left behind and I don’t like that so it may be stressful but it’s still fun when I see how far I’ve grown

The weird kick move in the first match with Lee is called mist trap, it works even if you block but you can duck it. It's a mix up Lee players use a lot since they don't have good lows. It's normally a perfect frame so very hard to do but you do it automatically in heat👍
When Jack goes into stance after 6LK, he's +4 on block, and you can beat most of his options with left sidestep+ block
His only grab during stance can be teched with 1+2
You can also use jab to beat out most of his options (except for power crush which you can block even after throwing out 1+2)
You can also use power crush to beat all of his options except for grab
After blocking sledgehammer, he is +6 when he goes into stance, so sidestep is a bit tricky but crouch jab and power crush can still beat most of his options
When you get hit, then you have to guess to a certain degree, idk if fuzzy guard works but most of his good options during stance is high so you can try ducking

Red ranks are a slaughterhouse. It’s been rough to get through. I’ll gain some momentum and then come crashing down again.
And you are doing ok, and then a Blue rank playing with his alt, just destroy you.
@@johnnyestrada6993 Red ranks are the transitional path from average player to decent player. Obviously, like all other games, there are some players that abuse certain moves and sneak into those higher ranks, but they get call out by the true good players eventually.

same thing here. A promotion rarely comes along and when it does, I miss it. Paul is stronger but I have been easy prey for Victor, Reina and Feng. I will adapt, but for now it is difficult.

I get lucky in this game. I usually will fight the same characters in waves for some reason and it helps me learn matchups. I just went through a three day span where I was fighting Raven non stop. I feel pretty good about that matchup now.
I'm trying to get back to Battle Ruler but Unicorn Overlord has me hooked right now.

I'm in the middle of red ranks right now, and been steadily going up. I don't know if I WANT to pass red though, if that makes sense. My neutral can be decent, but I feel like I'm still getting blown up by string spamming and I don't know if I'm progressing ranks too fast without having learned a fundamental skill like knowing when to crouch/step/interrupt strings.
1:20 hey worm man incase you dont there are no hitboxes in tekken imagine it like the limbs get painted over to hit so some moves can miss should a character go low enough or straight some lows can whiff if it goes between the chars legs although chars "hurtboxes" are bigger when juggled

Just got out of red I swear I was in there for like a month
the tank system is silly, I am mighty ruler played 2 fujins in a row won both sets 2-0 got like 300 a piece, lost the next match against a mighty ruler lost 400 -_-. The hardest part of the grind is just matchup knowledge wish I could play against characters like lili and zafina more cause when I play them once out of every 100 matches I get stomped.
The first statement Brian made is part of my problem with Tekken...the other part is understanding all the moves needed in the first place...Tekken I find is far more complex to grasp any of the finer points and not just be called a scrub masher than Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat is thus far.
You can be a lot more obnoxious with Paul. Play keep out with df2s that move is veery annoying and high crushes then in the last rounds start your offense with demo mans etc. Also try not to sway in the neutral , it can be easily defeated with 13 frame mids.

Paul is a defensive character and a classic Tekken. you need a match-up knowledge and use more ss and do better combo.and use more of your move list. do qcb 4 as a stand alone move and df2 as keep out . nice vids

Question for the Tekken players in the comments: Why is it worse to be on P2 side in this game vs other fighting games? I hear Brian + others complain about it more in this game but people never bring it up as much in Street Fighter for example.
I don't know of any true advantages aside for personal preference. Most people play on P1 and are used to the inputs and movement. You gotta learn kbd on both sides n such
The only real difference is that there are very rare circumstances with sidestepping/crouching that don't exist on P1 side. I belive PhiDX has a video about it called Why Online Tekken is Literally Different or something like that
Mainly though, most people will say it's worse due to their muscle memory only existing for P1 side because they always select it when playing online. A joke you'll see often is that if you side-swap a Mishima player to the other side, they crumble apart because they don't know how to function on P2 side.
Side switching happens less naturally in Tekken compared to 2D games. It's fairly common to start on P1 and never get switched to P2 over the course of a match. Because of that, people tend to have a favored side that they are much better on, and when a side switch does occur during match and you haven't practiced your bad side, good luck
Many players have a weak p2 side in general, in Sreet Fighter as well but there you can't pick your side so you'll be forced to play p2 more. Also movement is generally harder in Tekken, especially when it comes to korean backdash compared to 2d fighters so that being a weakness has more impact to your play
@@Nerevaar you can actually pick your side in SF6, and also make it randomly select per match, though most people keep it on P1.
