More great info here Rachel, thanks for that. And yes... I am working my way through your videos. They are the perfect length and present good info alongside beautiful beach scenes and swim sites. Love the wee bit of humour tossed in there too. Much appreciated... I’m learning lots!! 🏊♀️🇨🇦
Hi Rachel, thanks for sharing. As best as I can tell - Dry Robe will not dry you after a swim (hence your mention of a towel). Allow me to suggest - after a swim pop on the Decathlon as a body towel, put on the Dry robe as a warm cocoon - then remove swimming cosi, pat dry and you're ready for dry clothing. I have the Trek mates microfiber poncho towel, which is rather thin material but super fast drying you off after a swim, I think it would work a treat under a Dry Robe. It does come with a hood so can be used as a summer changing robe - however it is a bit narrow in width so best suited for narrow people!
Ah, thanks for this Steve. In actual fact, I now just put my dryrobe on, whip my cozzie off, pat myself down with the inside of the dryrobe and stick my clothes on. I don't carry a towel at the moment and it seems to work just fine. I use the Decathlon one for summer changing, using the same method. 🏊🏊
@@EverydayAthleteRach Hi Rach, thanks for this reply. Only tangentially related, Buffalo outdoor clothing has since the 1970's offered 'Pertex outer layer and Pile inner layer', the 'pile' being the same fabric as now offered with the Dryrobe - so this will wick moisture away - with the Buffalo jacket the Pertex fabric is highly breathable so the moisture then evaporates away. With the Dryrobe the outer layer is waterproof trapping the moisture. Likely not a problem for a garment worn for such a short time. However a Pertex and Pile version of the Dryrobe would (technically) be excellent!
Steve Wright I’ve got a Buffalo over the head jacket just like you describe which I’ve had since 2000! That and Rab vaporiser trousers is what I used to wear for leading gorge walking 😀
@@EverydayAthleteRach Crikey Rach, if I didn't know better I'd have said you raided my wardrobe! My Buffalo Six Special now out and in use for the winter season (it's my jacket of choice after Wild Water Swimming), my Rab rain pants are in mint condition - hardly worn... There you are - great minds think alike!
Hi, some of us old men have just recently got into outdoor swimming. I’m looking for a robe for the winter, the problem is I’m 6 foot two and 52 chest. Everything that you say about it having lots of room I worry about! Also I found that with most dressing gowns for example, They don’t come anywhere near my knees! I’m Worried about flashing as I’m totally blind and obviously that makes it more difficult to make sure that people can’t see the relevant bits! Also I don’t quite understand probably because I’ve never been able to see the robes, how did you get your arms inside in order to strip off. If you’ve got your arms in the sleeves, surely they’re stuck there especially with fleece when you’re at least damp if not wet. Cheers for any help Rob
Hi there! Thanks for watching and commenting. I think the longest robe I've tried is the Sittingsuit, which isn't actually a changing robe but could be used as one if you have a small towel to dry off underneath: www.norse-supply.co.uk/ The Goilla Robe is also pretty long and has zips up to the armpits to help with geting changed gorillarobes.com/collections/waterproof-robes I would say both of these would be large enough for a 52 inch chest. It could be worth contacting the companies and asking, or seeing if you can try it on and return if it doesn't fit? Enjoy the water 🏊😃
Hi, most of the robes, although arm shaped are more of a butterfly - poncho shape and very wide in the underarm area which makes it fairly easy to pull your arms in.
Thanks for sharing Rachel. Have you any views on the Swimzi XK changing robe? Also I have one of the Decathlon ponchos and, while not ideal for warmth, it is fab for modesty and drying. And what a price!
Hi Deirdre, I have not got my hands on a Swimzi XK yet, but hope to review it alongside the new and improved SmocSmoc which is due out early in the new year..

I love your swimming costume in this video, where is it from please?
I love your red cosy with white polka dots. Where’s it from? ❤️
Thank you, it's from Next, a couple of seasons ago.
